1 STEP 1: Open the File WALL SECTION.dwg from the Class 04 - Resources folder. Select all the viewports in the layout. Toggle to the STATUS BAR, next to the scale, select the LOCK to LOCK all Viewports selected. When you double click in the viewport you will not be able to scale or change the way the layout appears. 1 2 STEP 2: Type DIMSTYLE. Click on NEW. Name it ARCH 226. Make sure ASSOCIATIVE is checked. Click on MODIFY to change the settings of this dimension style. STEP 3: In the dialog select SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Set the ARROW SIZE to 3/32 Set the CENTER MARKS to be 3/32 3 1

2 STEP 4: Select the TEXT tab. TEXT SIZE = 3/32 STEP 5: Select the PRIMARY UNITS tab. Units should be set to ARCHITECTURAL. 4 STEP 6: Type DIMLINEAR. You make dimensions by selecting point to measure in the drawing. Make dimensions strings at the top and bottom of the drawing as shown in the figure. NOTE: Points do not need to be in the same plane to make a linear dimension. 7 STEP 7: In PAPERSPACE, double click in the first viewport. Select all the dimensions previously made. RIGHT CLICK, Set the annotative object scale to USE CURRENT SCALE. You will notice the dimension tags are larger and readable in paperspace, but not legible in model space. 5 If the viewport scale were to change, you could update the scale of the dimensions and they would always come out to be 3/32 tall in Paperspace. 6 2

3 9 8 STEP 8: Type I for INSERT. Find the ELEV TAG.dwg file in the Class 04 - Resources folder. Hit OK. STEP 9: Insert the block on the grade line using the INSERT POINT at the intersection of the GRADE LINE and the SLAB. You will be prompted to enter the Height (Elevation), and the Name. HEIGHT = 0-0 NAME = GRADE This is an Annotative Block. Essentially, you can copy or insert this block and change the names and elevation heights using only one file. STEP 10: Copy this tag to all the points shown in the Figure. Double Click a tag. Rename and change all the Elevation heights to match the figure. STEP 11: We are going to define our own Block Attributes for a Drawing Tag. Open the DRAW TAG.dwg file. In the File type ATTDEF. In the Prompt box type NAME Set the text height to be 1/4. Insert this tag close to as shown in the Figure. When you insert this into a drawing it will prompt you for the NAME of the tag and automatically enter it

4 STEP 12: Type ATTDEF. Enter SCALE at the prompt box. Text Height = 3/32 13 Place this tag close to what is shown in the Figure. STEP 13: Type STYLE. Make a NEW text style called ARCH 226. Make the text height 1/8. 12 STEP 14: Type T for TEXT. Type SCALE: in the text box. At the text options in the Ribbon make sure ANNOTATIVE is checked. Position this text just before the previous attribute defined. 15 SAVE this file and Close. STEP 15: In PAPERSPACE in the Wall Section.dwg file, type I for INSERT Insert the DRAW TAG.dwg, rename the attributes, and locate them as shown in the figure. Draw Tag 01 NAME: BUILDING SECTION SCALE: 1/4 = 1-0 Draw Tag 02 NAME: WALL SECTION SCALE: 1 =

5 16 STEP 16: On the HOME ribbon, go to the Annotative tab. Push the word Annotative under the A for text. Toggle to the button that looks like the one in the figure and press it. This is the MULTILEADER style box. 18 STEP 17: Make a NEW Multileader style. Name it ARCH 226. Make sure it is ASSOCIATIVE. Set the TEXT HEIGHT to be 3/32. STEP 18: Double Click in the SECOND VIEWPORT. Click on Leader in HOME tab-annotative Panel, or Type MLEADER. This is going to draw an arrow with a line that ends with text to call out specific objects in the drawing. 17 Click somewhere on the CMU CAP block to start the arrowhead. Then pull up at approximately 60 degrees. Click again to define the end of the arrowhead, (see figure). Type 8 x 8 CMU CAP STONE. Hit ENTER. You will notice that the text is not visible. It is too small to read. STEP 19: With the viewport still active, select the new leader. RIGHT CLICK and toggle its QUICK PROPERTIES. (CNTRL+1 for the full properties dialog). Check to make sure it is associative. Right Click again. Add the annotative scale to be the current scale. The Leader should update its text to match the viewport scale and be 3/32 of inch tall in the paperspace. 19 5

6 20 STEP 20: It is best to COPY this leader and replace the text rather than trying to match the angle of the original arrow and line drawn. COPY (CO) a leader to each place as shown in the figure. Rename them accordingly. The names are as follows: 2 BALLAST 2 RIGID INSULATION CONCRETE ROOF SLAB PELLA SLIDING GLASS DOOR 8 X8 CMU CAP STONE 8 X8 CMU BLOCK (2) 3 X6 ANGLE FOR LINTEL 1/2 EXPANSION JOINT 3/8 SETTING BED 6 SLAB ON STEP FOOTING. 6

7 STEP 21: In the top Viewport we can still see the annotative tags, but we don t want to see them there. In the middle and bottom viewport, we see the overall dimension lines, which we do not want to see there. 21 As long as the Dimensions are on the A-DIM layer and the text is on the A-ANNO layer, we can use a VIEWPORT FREEZE to hide objects respectively in each viewport. DOUBLE CLICK in the top viewport to make it active. In the RIBBON where the layers have a pull down, toggle to the A-ANNO layer. Next to the SUN looking object there is a button for VIEWPORT FREEZE. Check to make the snowflake appear. 22 This hides the layer only in the top viewport. REPEAT for the A-DIM layer in the bottom two viewports. STEP 22: Type PLOT. Setup the pen assignments to be ARCH 226 1in.ctb. Hit ENTER. Upload this to the portal. Type ETRANSMIT. Save the file. 7
