1 01.02, 15 Feb 2011 Installation Instructions To ensure that the Xporter application will function as expected, we recommend that a dedicated SIMS user be created specifically to interact with the software i.e. Groupcall. This user can also be an existing SIMS user if required. Please ensure that the user you decide to use is a member of ALL the following SIMS groups: Personnel Officer School Administrator Senior Management Team Third Party Reporting You will use the user you have created when setting up the Extractor so please ensure you have those details to hand. 2 Download and Install Studywiz Extractor 1. Open a web browser and enter the following URL: The Downloads for Studywiz page appears. 2. Click the Groupcall Xporter for Studywiz Setup link. Depending on your browser settings, you will be prompted to download or save the setup file. 3. Save and run the installer. A dialog box appears, prompting you to run the file. 4. Click the Run button. The setup wizard appears 5. Click the Next button. The Required Software panel appears. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

3 6. Click the Next button. The installer installs the software. When installation is complete, the Service Setup Wizard appears. 7. Click the Next button. The User Information panel appears 8. Enter your school details. There may be details already populated. Change these as needed. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

4 9. Click Next. The directory where Groupcall will be installed is automatically selected. 10. Click the Next button. 11. Select the For Capita SIMS.Net option. 12. Click the Next button. The Ready to Install panel appears. 13. Click the Install button. The installation is completed and the Completing panel appears. 14. Click the Finish button. to complete, the Extractor service will now start and the Extractor Settings screen appears Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

5 15. Enter your School Name and DCSF number. 16. Click the OK button. There may be a delay of up to 1 minute, and then the SIMS Schools Database Login dialog box appears. 17. Enter your SIMS user credentials created or identified previously above. If the user was newly created, then please enter the temporary password created by the System Tool and you will then be prompted to enter a new permanent one. Once complete, a popup window will appear on the right of the screen confirming that the Extractor has started correctly. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

6 The Extractor icon will now appear on the right of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and remains there every time you log onto your PC. Studywiz Extractor Status 1. Click the Extractor icon in the taskbar. The Extractor window appears. If the Next Run column shows a red pip, this indicates that the most recent data extract has failed. Should this occur, please contact Studywiz Support. Advanced Settings In some situations, changes to settings created by the installation program are required. Such changes are made by opening a settings file, locating the relevant lines, updating the line and resaving the file. Follow the procedures in this section to change your settings file. Set the Importer to use Preferred Name or Legal Name Studywiz Extractor can use each user s Legal Name or their Preferred Name for their user name. The default setting is to use their Legal Name. Follow this procedure to change the Extractor configuration between the Legal Name and Preferred Name options. 1. Navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\Groupcall\Exporter. 7 2. Open the file GCExporter.ini. 3. Locate the line StudyWiz_NameType= 4. Set the line to either of the following: To use Legal Name: StudyWiz_NameType=L To use Preferred Name: StudyWiz_NameType=P 5. Save the file. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

8 Automate FTP Imports Before you begin, contact Studywiz Support for FTP information. You will need the following details: Username Password IP or host name Directory. 1. Ensure that you have the FTP details from Studywiz Support. 2. Navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\Groupcall\Exporter. 3. Open the file GCExporter.ini. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter

9 4. Locate the line or host name>/<directory> 5. Change the line to correctly show the username, password, IP or host name and directory. 6. Save the file. Copyright Studywiz Powered by Xporter
