1 MOZILLA FIREFOX (Version 52) EXTENDED SUPPORT RELEASE (ESR) Guidance for Windows PC Patient Portal End Users 1

2 Downloading/ Installing Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) Version 52 As of version 52, Firefox no longer supports the Microsoft Silverlight browser plugin, which is required for the Patient Portal to operate properly. Until a more permanent solution is provided, Firefox offers an Extended Support Release (ESR) version, which can be downloaded using the links below: 1. Select Get Firefox 52 ESR as shown below (click on the link next to the green arrow) 2

3 2. Scroll down to English (US) and select the relevant link based on your computer s operating system(os)* *If you are using a Windows-based computer, select the relevant link based on your OS. To determine if your OS is 32-bit or 64-bit: Windows 7/8: Go to your Start menu, right-click on Computer and select Properties. Look under System and System Type. Windows 10: Right-click on the Start menu and select File Explorer. Right-click This PC and select Properties. Look under System Type. If you are using a Mac-based computer, please refer to the guidance documentation posted on the Registry FAQ webpage of the NPF website at the following link: 3

4 3. Unless otherwise specified, the installation file will be saved to the Downloads folder by default as shown below. Select [Save] to continue. 4. Once saved, open and extract the Firefox Installer file (.exe) either by going to the Downloads folder or locating it in your local browser downloads. 4

5 5. You will be prompted by the User Account Control (as shown below). To continue, you need to approve. Select [Yes] to approve. 5

6 6. Click [Next] to start the Firefox Setup Wizard and follow the steps as prompted 6

7 7. If prompted by the following message, it is recommended that you do NOT install the optional maintenance service so that automatic updates are not enabled in Firefox ESR (deselect the checkbox as shown below). 7

8 8. Select [Install] to begin the installation process 8

9 9. If the installation is successful, you will see the following. Select [Finish] to complete the installation process 9

10 Downloading/ Installing Microsoft Silverlight 1. Open the Firefox 52 ESR browser 2. Go to (refer screen shot below Patient Portal login page) 3. Enter your Username (your registered address) and Temporary Password provided to you by NPF. Upon successful firsttime login, you will be prompted to change your password. 4. After reading through the Welcome page, click on [Next] to continue. 10

11 5. You will be prompted to install Microsoft Silverlight as shown below. Click on [Install Microsoft Silverlight] 11

12 6. Next, you will be asked to save the Microsoft Silverlight installation file (.exe) to your computer. Select [Save File] 12

13 7. Unless otherwise specified, the installation file will be saved to the Downloads folder by default as shown below. Select [Save] to continue. 13

14 8. Double-click or double-tap Silverlight.exe from the Firefox Downloads window as shown below. If you have trouble locating the file, check for Silverlight.exe in the Downloads folder by pressing [Ctrl] + [J] on your keyboard. Select [OK] if prompted by the Open Executable File? window. Select [Run] if prompted by the Open File Security Warning window. 14

15 9. You will be prompted by the User Account Control (as shown below). To continue, you need to approve. Select [Yes] to approve. 15

16 10. When the Silverlight dialog window opens, select [Install now]. 16

17 11. Once you have accepted the installation, the process will begin, and you will see the following message. Allow a few minutes for the installation to complete. 17

18 12. If the installation is successful, you will see the following message. Click on the [Close] button to complete the installation process 13. Sign out of your account by clicking on 14. Exit your browser by clicking on the [X] in the top right-hand corner of the browser window 15. Reopen the Firefox 52 ESR browser by clicking on the icon on your desktop screen 18

19 16. Go to Enter your login credentials. Remember, your Username is your registered address. Your password is the password you chose to assign after your initial login session. 19

20 18. Once you have successfully logged into your account, the application will load as shown below: 20
