1 Setting Up Your WSU Apple ipad Mini Page 1 of 7 Your ipad Mini should be plugged in and ready to setup. ATTENTION: All students MUST create a new Apple ID during setup to use with their WSU ipad. If you use another personal or shared Apple ID, you will lose or alter data on other devices tied to that account. You will create an Apple ID during the setup in these next pages. You can use your WSU address for your Apple ID if you wish. Any questions about this can be answered by the laptop technicians. Please read through these setup instructions carefully. Thank you, please continue on.

2 Setting Up Your ipad Mini Page 2 of 7 Your ipad Mini should be plugged in and ready to setup. 1. Slide to unlock. 2. Choose English and press arrow icon in top right corner. 3. Choose United States and press Next in top right corner. 4. Choose Warrior. 5. Log in with your WSU username and password and press Join in top right corner. 6. Select Accept for certificate. This may take a few minutes. 7. Select Next in top right corner when done loading. 8. Select Enable Location Services. Press Next in top right corner. 9. Select Set Up as New ipad. Tap on Next in top right corner. 10. Do NOT sign in with an Apple ID. Choose Create a Free Apple ID on the bottom of the screen.

3 Page 3 of Select your birthdate with the rollers. 12. Enter your first and last name. 13. First choose to use your current address. Try using your winona.edu address. If your WSU says it s in use, try another or press back and select Get a free icloud address. 14. After you re finished entering an unused address or creating a new icloud , enter a password and verify it. 15. Select each of your Security Questions and type in an answer to them. 16. Press Next to skip this step. 17. Turn updates off and press next. 18. Read Apple s Terms and Conditions and tap Agree In bottom right corner when finished. You will need to confirm that you agree. 19. Press Next to skip this step. A pop-up will appear, confirm that you want to skip this step. 20. Select Use icloud and tap on Next in the top right corner.

4 Page 4 of Select Back Up to icloud and tap on Next in the top right corner. 22. Select Use Find My ipad and tap on Next in the top right corner. 23. Select Use Siri and click on Next in top right corner Choose Don t Send for Diagnostics and Usage then click on Next in top right corner. You may be asked to Register with Apple. Choose Off and press Next. 25. Choose Start Using ipad. 26. Open Safari. 27. Type awenroll.winona.edu in the address bar. 28. Enter your WSU username and password. 29. Select Install to install profile. Select Install Now on pop-up. 30. A warning will appear. After reading select Install.

5 Page 5 of After the profile is finished installing click on Done. You may need to wait a moment. You ll be asked to install Airwatch or OneNote shortly after. 32. Tap Install. Whenever asked, insert your new Apple ID with Use existing ID (full and password). Let a technician know if there are any issues. 33. A message will appear prompting you to review your account information. Select review. 34. If Apple Apps pops up press close in the top right corner. Make sure United States is selected and press Next. 35. Read the terms and conditions then scroll to the bottom and choose Agree. 36. Enter in your address information and press next at the bottom. 37. Read the Edit Home Screen window then select Dismiss. 38. You will now have to create a passcode for your ipad. This is NOT the same as your WSU password! A passcode is a short code to get through your ipad s locked screen. Tap on Continue. 39. Create any 4 digit passcode (with numbers) that you will remember and verify the code when it asks you to. 40. If you swipe to the right you should see 3 new apps; move on to step 42 if you do. If you do not see these apps, move onto step 41.

6 Page 6 of If you do not see Airwatch installed, click WSU Apps (also on your second home screen) and then press install/reinstall next to AirWatch. Follow any onscreen prompts to sign in or review your account information. You may need to go back through steps and try step 41 over again. Move on to step 42 when you have finished installing Airwatch. Alert a technician if you have any issues or confusion. 42. Open AirWatch by pressing the AirWatch App on your second home screen. 43. AirWatch will open and ask for your location. Press OK to allow it to access your location. Type in your full address and click continue. Your address is your username followed 44. Below your , type in: Server: awapp.winona.edu Group ID: wsudevice Press continue. Tip ipad home button If your ipad appears to be nonresponsive in Airwatch setup, you may have messages to address in your background. Double-tap your ipad s home button to bring up the multitasking bar. Open up another open app (I.E. Settings) and address your messages. If your ipad skipped previous steps (such as setting a passcode), you may see these steps. Otherwise, you ll see a message about Push for Airwatch (Press OK). Open Airwatch again when you ve finished taking care of messages. 45. After you hit continue, you may again be prompted to allow AirWatch to use your location. Again press OK. 46. Once you see this screen, you re done! If you do not see this screen, please contact a technician.
