1 Sharp Copier/MFP Downloading and loading Sharp copier/mfp print drivers (Windows PCs) 1. Before you start to download your print drivers, you will need to determine exactly what version of Windows you are using. Click on the Start or Windows symbol in the lower left corner of your computer (see the image below). 2. The Windows menu will open (see the image below)

2 3. Right-click on the Computer (or My Computer) button and open the menu. (see the image below) 4. Click on the Properties button in the menu and open your computer s properties window. Check the Windows version in the Windows Edition section at the top of the page and then check the bit format (32 or 64) in the System section. You will need this information to download the correct driver for your Windows computer. (see the image below)

3 5. Go to the Allfax Specialties, Inc. website ( (see the image below) 6. Click on the Customer Support button at the top of the page (see the image below)

4 7. Click on the Search for Drivers button (see the image below) 8. Under the red Sharp logo, click on the MFP Drivers button (see the image below).

5 9. The Sharp Driver search window will open (see the image below). 10. First, click on the Series (optional) drop down arrow and select the series of your Sharp copier/mfp. (***You can determine your machine s series by the first several letters of the model number. The model number is on the front cover of your machine. ***) (see the image below). 11. Second, click on the MFP drop down arrow and select your machine s model number (see the image below).

6 12. Third, click on the Platform (Optional) drop down arrow and select your computer s platform (see the image below). 13. Fourth, click on the Operating System drop down arrow and select your computer s operating system (see the image below). ****Reminder, you determined this information in step #4**** 14. Fifth, click on the Search button at the bottom of the screen to search the Sharp driver library for your driver (see the image below)

7 15. The available drivers for your machine will now be displayed in the window (see the image below). 16. To download the driver, click on the Download File button. ****DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE UNIVERSAL DRIVER**** (see the image below).

8 17. The Agreement screen will open. Click on the checkbox to the left of I agree and the View File button to start the download (see the image below). 18. Click on the Save or Save as button to save the print driver file to your computer. If you click Save the button the file will be saved to the Downloads folder on your computer. If click the Save as button you can save the file to any location you want. (see the image below)

9 19. For our example, we have clicked on the Save button and the file has downloaded to Download folder. (see the image below) 20. Click on the Open button to view the download file. (see the image below).

10 21. Double-click the WHQL_PCL6_PS_PPD Print Driver_64bit compressed (zipped) folder and open the folder. The WHQL_PCL6_PS_PPD Print Driver_64bit driver set-up application will open in the folder window. (see the image below) 22. Double-click the application to run the driver set-up program. The User Account Control window will open. Click on the Yes button to allow the install program to run.

11 23. Your computer will display a User Account Control message. Click the Yes button to continue the install process. 24. The Sharp Install Shield Wizard window will now be displayed. Click on the Next button to continue (see the image below). 25. The application will extract the set-up files and the Sharp MX Series Printer Driver window will open. Click the Standard installation button and then click the Next button (see the image below).

12 26. The Program will search your network for the Sharp copier/mfp. Select your Sharp copier/mfp from the list and then click the Next button (see the image below). 27. The Sharp MX/DX Series Printer Driver confirmation screen will open. Confirm you have selected the correct machine and click the Next button. (see the image below)

13 28. The Sharp MX/DX Series Printer Driver selection screen will open. Windows users should select PCL6 as their driver. Click the Next button to continue. (see the image below) 29. The Next screen to open will let you determine if you want to set the machine as your default printer. Choose Yes or No and then click the Next button. (see the image below)

14 30. The next screen to open allows you to use the default name for the printer or you can enter a new name for the machine. Click the Next button to continue. (see the image below) 31. The next screen to open will be a final confirmation of the installation, click the next button to continue (see the image below).

15 32. The last screen to open will confirm the installation has been completed. Click the OK button to close the installation program. (see the image below) 33. You will need to configure the print driver to match the options installed on your Sharp copier/mfp. Click on the Windows symbol in the lower left hand corner of your computer s desktop and then click the Devices and Printers button in the menu (see the image below).

16 34. Locate your Sharp copier in the list of Devices and Printers. Right mouse click on your machine and the menu will open. Click on the Printer properties button (see the image below) 35. The driver properties window will open. Click on the Configuration tab at the top of the window. (see the image below)

17 36. The driver properties/configuration window will open. Click on the Auto Configuration button and the driver will check for the options installed on your machine. (see the image below) 37. The Auto Configuration window will open. A finger icon will point to the options installed on your machine. Click on the options and then click the OK button. (see the image below)

18 38. Click the Apply button to save the configuration and then the OK button. (see the image below) 39. Close the Devices and Printers window. Your print driver is loaded & configured and ready for use.
