10 Getting Started Reqired software EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP (NMSAP) is an add-on modle for the NetWorker server and client software that provides backp and recovery services for SAP HANA and SAP Oracle data. The term SAP Oracle sed throghot this docment refers to a SAP environment with an Oracle database. The following table lists the hosts and software that yo might need for NMSAP services. The NetWorker server host is sally a separate host, bt the server host can also be the NMSAP host. Yo might reqire specific NetWorker server versions to spport specific NMSAP featres as described in the NMSAP release notes. Yo mst se a certified version of the NetWorker server that works with the NetWorker client version installed on the NMSAP host. The operating systems sed mst spport the NetWorker server version. Yo mst install a spported version of the NetWorker storage node software with all applicable patches on the host that manages the backp storage devices. Yo can install the NetWorker storage node on the same host as the NetWorker server, on the same host as NMSAP (to spport backps to a local device), or on a separate host. Yo mst se a certified version of the NetWorker storage node that works with the NetWorker client version installed on the NMSAP host and with the NetWorker server. The operating systems sed mst spport the NetWorker storage node version. Yo mst install a spported version of the NMC software on a network host to provide a ser interface with the NetWorker software and NMSAP. Yo mst install a spported version of the NetWorker client software with all applicable patches on the spported SAP server host before yo install NMSAP on that host. Yo might reqire specific NetWorker client versions to spport specific NMSAP featres as described in the NMSAP release notes. Yo mst se a certified version of the NetWorker client that rns on the operating system. NetWorker client release 8.1 or later incldes the NetWorker Snapshot Management (NSM) featre that integrates and replaces the previos stand-alone EMC NetWorker PowerSnap Modle. On a SAP Oracle server, NMSAP can se NSM to provide a high-availability storage environment for snapshot backps and restores. To enable the snapshot operations, yo mst install the NetWorker client release 8.1 or later on both of the following hosts: NMSAP host A separate proxy client host, also called the data mover, which can be a NetWorker storage node NetWorker server software 11

12 Getting Started Some operating systems and volme managers reqire the proxy client host to be a separate host. For example, Veritas Volme Manager (VxVM) and Linx Logical Volme Manager (LVM) do not spport the se of the database host as the mont host. The EMC NetWorker Snapshot Management Integration Gide provides a fll list of restrictions and details. NMSAP software Yo mst install NMSAP on the SAP server. Yo mst install NMSAP on a spported operating system version. For split-mirror backps on a SAP Oracle server, yo mst also install NMSAP on the mont host (data mover). SAP BR*Tools software Replication Manager software Installation checklists On a SAP Oracle server, yo mst install a spported SAP BR*Tools version. Yo mst se a certified version of SAP BR*Tools that rns on the operating system. The SAP docmentation describes the spported operating systems. If yo install NMSAP in a non-english environment, ensre that the host operating system spports internationalization (I18N). Also ensre that the SAP Oracle software and BR*Tools software provide the reqired National Langage Spport (NLS) or globalization spport, and are configred with the reqired non-ascii character set. To enable split-mirror backp featres on a SAP Oracle server, EMC Replication Manager server software mst work with Replication Manager agent software installed on both of the following hosts: SAP Oracle server A separate mont host (data mover), which can be a NetWorker storage node The EMC Replication Manager docmentation describes the installation. Withot an enabler code, yo can only evalate the software. The EMC NetWorker Licensing Gide describes licensing. The EMC Price Gide describes the licensing reqirements for NetWorker modles. Accessing the NMSAP software Yo can obtain the NMSAP software from the DVD media or the EMC website. Accessing NMSAP from the DVD media The DVD with the NMSAP software is in the EMC Information Protection and Availability Prodct Families Media Kit. The kit contains the software and online docmentation for related prodcts. Yo can access the NMSAP software files from the DVD on a host with a local DVD drive. Procedre 1. Log in as the root ser (UNIX or Linx) or system administrator (Windows) on the host. 2. Insert and mont the NetWorker Modle DVD in the DVD drive: On UNIX or Linx, mont the DVD drive: mont /dev/dvd_drive_name /mont_point On Windows, select the DVD drive in Windows Explorer. 3. Go to the directory that contains the software as shown in the following table. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Release 8.2 Release s provides details abot the operating systems, database software, and application software that NMSAP spports. Procedre 1. Log in as the root ser (UNIX or Linx) or system administrator (Windows) on the host. 2. Create a temporary installation download directory in a local file system with sfficient free disk space to contain both the downloaded software package and the software installation files extracted from the package. For example: On UNIX or Linx: mkdir /sr/nsr_extract_nmsap On Windows: mkdir C:\Downloads\nmsap 3. Go to EMC Online Spport at 4. Go to the Downloads for NetWorker Modle for SAP page. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Release 8.2 Release s provides details abot the operating systems and the database and application software that NMSAP spports. 5. Download the NMSAP 8.2 software file to the temporary directory that yo created. 6. Extract the installation files from the downloaded software package: On UNIX or Linx: a. Uncompress the downloaded package by typing the gnzip command with the file_name.tar.gz name for the specific download file name: gnzip file_name.tar.gz b. Extract the software from the ncompressed, tarred file: tar -xvpbf file_name.tar The extraction lists the distribtion software files on the screen. c. Remain in the directory for the installation. On Windows: a. Unzip the downloaded software package, nmsap46_win_x64.zip. b. Go to the win_x64 directory. 14 EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP 8.2 Installation Gide

15 Getting Started Installation road maps Yo mst follow the appropriate road map to install NMSAP: A road map to install or pdate NMSAP on a local host A road map to pdate NMSAP remotely by psh install A road map to perform the post-installation procedres Road map to install or pdate NMSAP on a local host Yo mst follow the instrctions to install or pdate NMSAP locally on a host in either of the following configrations. Single host Clster host, Oracle RAC host, or SAP HANA scale-ot host Yo mst install the NetWorker client and NMSAP software on each node host that will perform backp and recovery operations in a clster, Oracle RAC, or SAP HANA scale-ot mltinode environment. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Release 8.2 Release s provides details abot the spported versions and clster or mltinode environments. Procedre 1. Review the Installation checklists on page 12 and verify that yo have the reqired docmentation, installation media, pathnames, and license information. 2. Ensre that yo have installed the NetWorker client software on the host. The client version mst spport the NMSAP version to be installed. 3. Access the NMSAP software as described in Accessing the NMSAP software on page 13 and ensre that yo start the installation from the correct directory. If yo do not start the installation from the correct directory, the installation might fail. 4. Ensre that no backps or restores are rnning on the SAP server. Yo do not need to sht down a spported database dring the installation. 5. If a previos version of NMSAP is already installed, ninstall the previos version according to the instrctions in the installation gide for the previos version. NOTICE Do not se an pgrade option on the platform, for example, the rpm -U command on Linx. Before yo ninstall a previos NMSAP version, ensre that yo save a copy of the original parameter file template (init.tl) and original configration file template (nsrsapsv.cfg) spplied with NMSAP. The template files are located in the following directory: On UNIX or Linx: /etc On Windows: NetWorker_install_directory\nsr\bin Installation road maps 15

16 Getting Started An ninstallation of NMSAP deletes the original template files along with any settings yo made in the files. 6. Start the NetWorker client service before the NMSAP installation. If yo do not start the NetWorker client before the NMSAP installation, then the atomatic registration of the NMSAP configration wizard might not occr and the wizard might fail to rn after the installation. Road map to post-installation procedres on page 17 provides details. 7. Install the NMSAP software by following the instrctions for the operating system in the appropriate chapter: UNIX and Linx Installation on page 21 Microsoft Windows Installation on page 31 After the software installation completes, a message appears abot how to start the NMSAP schedled backp configration wizard. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Administration Gide describes the wizard. 8. Perform all the reqired post-installation procedres. Road map to post-installation procedres on page 17 provides details. Road map to pdate NMSAP remotely by psh install Yo can pdate NMSAP on one or more remote NMSAP hosts with the software distribtion featre, known as psh install, from a centralized NetWorker server. Yo can perform a psh install with the Software Administration Wizard or the nsrpsh command. Clster environments do not spport psh install pdates. The EMC NetWorker Installation Gide describes the software distribtion featre, inclding the following procedres: Verifying software installed on NetWorker clients Performing and monitoring psh installs Managing the repository of software to psh install from the NetWorker server To add a new version of NMSAP to the NetWorker server repository, yo mst follow the NetWorker installation gide instrctions for the nsrpsh command. For the Prodct Name variable, yo mst type the complete name NetWorker Modle for SAP with the qotation marks. Yo mst complete the reqired steps to pdate NMSAP remotely by psh install. Procedre 1. 17 Getting Started The remote NMSAP clients contain NMSAP 3.5 or later, and the client operating systems spport psh install. Yo cannot perform a remote pdate of earlier NMSAP versions. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Release 8.2 Release s describes the operating systems that spport a psh install on the NMSAP host. The remote NMSAP client hosts contain a spported version of the NetWorker client software. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Release 8.2 Release s provides details. The remote NetWorker server hosts that serve the NetWorker clients contain NetWorker 7.5 or later server software. The NetWorker Console server incldes administrative privileges for the ser who performs the pdate. 3. Ensre that all NetWorker backps are stopped before yo start any psh install pdates. Road map to post-installation procedres The software distribtion program might stop and restart the NetWorker client nsrexecd daemon dring the installation. 4. On the NetWorker server, perform the psh installation to pdate the NMSAP clients by sing the Software Administration Wizard or the nsrpsh command. The EMC NetWorker Installation Gide describes the different methods of psh install with the NetWorker software distribtion featre. 5. Perform all the reqired post-installation procedres. Road map to post-installation procedres on page 17 provides details. After yo have installed or pdated NMSAP, either directly on a local host or by remote installation (psh install), yo mst complete the post-installation procedres. The EMC NetWorker Installation Gide and the EMC NetWorker Release s provide more information. Procedre 1. Enable the NMSAP backp program: On a SAP HANA server, perform either of the following tasks: Copy the hdbbackint program file from the /sr/sbin installation directory (Linx) to the /sr/sap/sid/sys/global/hdb/opt directory. Create a symbolic link that points from /sr/sap/sid/sys/ global/hdb/opt/hdbbackint to the actal hdbbackint program file. Road map to post-installation procedres 17

18 Getting Started Yo mst manally create the opt sbdirectory if it does not exist. SAP HANA reqires the hdbbackint program to be accessible from the /sr/sap/sid/sys/global/hdb/opt directory. Ensre that the hdbbackint file has the reqired exectable permissions for the operating system ser SIDadm to rn the program, where SID is the system ID of the SAP HANA system. On a SAP Oracle server, perform either of the following tasks: Copy the backint program from the /sr/sbin directory (UNIX or Linx) or the NetWorker_install_directory\nsr\bin directory (Windows) to the directory where the SAP BR*Tools reside. For BR*Tools 7.10 or later, set til_path=fll path to directory containing backint in the BR*Tools configration file, initdbsid.sap. 2. If yo are installing NMSAP for the first time on the host, register and enable NMSAP to work with the NetWorker software. The EMC NetWorker Licensing Gide describes licensing and enabling of software. The EMC Price Gide describes the licensing reqirements for NetWorker modles. If yo are pdating from a previos NMSAP release, yo do not need to reenable the software. 3. If yo will perform NSM snapshot backps and restores on a SAP Oracle server, ensre that NetWorker client release 8.1 or later is installed on the NMSAP host and the data mover (proxy client) host. The NSM docmentation and the EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Administration Gide provide details. 4. If yo will perform SAP split-mirror backp operations on a SAP Oracle server, install and enable the reqired Replication Manager software. Yo mst install NMSAP and Replication Manager software on both the prodction host and the mont (backp) host. The EMC Replication Manager docmentation and the EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Administration Gide provide details. 5. If atomatic wizard registration did not occr dring the NMSAP installation and the NMSAP configration wizard fails to rn, manally register the wizard: a. Log in as the root ser (UNIX or Linx) or system administrator (Windows). b. At a command prompt, type the appropriate command as listed in the following table. To manally nregister the wizard, rn the command from the table bt replace the -i option with -. If yo cannot access the NMSAP man pages (UNIX or Linx only) with the man command, modify the MANPATH environment variable to inclde the pathname of the directory that contains the NMSAP man pages. The NMSAP man pages are located in the same directory as NetWorker client man pages. For example, if the man pages are located in the defalt directory, ensre that MANPATH incldes /sr/share/man. 7. Optionally, register the NMSAP prodct. Registering NMSAP prodct information with the SAP SLD repository (optional) on page 19 provides details. 8. Configre the NMSAP software. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Administration Gide provides details. Registering NMSAP prodct information with the SAP SLD repository (optional) As part of the NMSAP installation, SAP recommends that yo register the NMSAP prodct information for yor installation with the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). Procedre 1. Locate the nwsldreg.xml file, and open the file in a text editor, sch as vi. Do not se a word processor. The NMSAP installation stores a copy of this file, which has been preconfigred with the NMSAP information except for yor compter hostname, in the following location: On UNIX or Linx: /etc/nwsldreg.xml On Windows: NetWorker_install_directory\nsr\bin\nwsldreg.xml 2. Change all occrrences of the word CompterName to the hostname of the compter on which yo installed NMSAP. 3. Save the file. 4. Ensre that the SAP SLD server is rnning. 5. Type the following sldreg command at the command line to send the edited file to the SLD server: sldreg -ser sername -pass password -host sld_server -port http_port -file nwsldreg.xml where: sername and password are the login credentials on the SLD host. sld_server is the name of the SLD host. http_port is the port configred for HTTP connections on the SLD host. If yo have configred the HTTP server to se HTTPS, yo mst add the option - sehttps. nwsldreg.xml is the XML file to send to the SLD host. 22 UNIX and Linx Installation Installing NMSAP on AIX systems Yo can install NMSAP on an AIX system by rnning the installp command line interface (CLI) program or the AIX System Management Interface Tool (SMIT), which is a graphical ser interface (GUI) program. Procedre 1. Complete the initial steps in Installation road maps on page 15. Ensre that yo log in as the root ser, no backps are rnning, and yo are in the correct directory that contains the NMSAP installation files. 2. Rn either the installp CLI program or the SMIT GUI program: To rn the CLI program, type the following command: installp -a -d /dir_pathname LGTOnmsap.rte where /dir_pathnameis the complete pathname of the correct directory that contains the installation software as described in Accessing the NMSAP software on page 13. To verify that the installation was sccessfl, type the following command: lslpp -L all grep -i lgtonmsap If the lslpp command otpt incldes LGTOnmsap.rte , then the installation was sccessfl. To rn the SMIT GUI program, perform the following steps: a. Type the following command: smitty install_latest b. When prompted for the pathname of the base directory, type the reslt of the pkgparam LGTOclnt BASEDIR command that provides the path of the NetWorker client software. b. Type y when prompted whether to contine the installation. The system installs the software in the specified base directory. If yo type an incorrect pathname, where the NetWorker client is not located, the installation displays an error and the software is installed in the incorrect directory. In this case, perform the following steps: a. Uninstall the software by typing the pkgrm LGTOnmsap command. b. Reinstall the software by typing the correct pathname at the first pkgadd prompt. Yo can ninstall NMSAP on a UNIX or Linx system by removing any RMAN symbolic link, removing the hdbbackint or backint program, and sing the appropriate ninstall procedre for the operating system. If yo ninstall NMSAP in a clster or mltinode environment, yo mst perform the ninstall procedre on each reqired node. Procedre 1. Ensre that no database backps or application backps are rnning. 2. If yo enabled the RMAN featre, remove the symbolic link for the library file. Enabling the RMAN tility on page 26 provides details. 3. Log in as the root ser on the NMSAP host. 4. Remove the reqired program file: On a SAP HANA server, remove the hdbbackint program file from the /sr/sap/sid/sys/global/hdb/opt directory. On a SAP Oracle server, remove the backint program file from the directory where the SAP BR*Tools reside, for example, /sr/sap/sid/sys/exe/rn. 5. Uninstall NMSAP by sing the appropriate procedre for the operating system as follows. Yo do not need to sht down a database to ninstall NMSAP. 32 Microsoft Windows Installation Installing NMSAP on Microsoft Windows Yo can install NMSAP on a Windows system by rnning the NMSAP Setp program, networkr\setp.exe. Procedre 1. Complete the initial steps in Installation road maps on page 15. Ensre that yo log in as administrator, no database backps are rnning, and yo are in the correct directory that contains the NMSAP installation files. 2. Rn the NMSAP Setp program, networkr\setp.exe, and follow the instrctions in the installation wizard. By defalt, the Setp program installs the NMSAP program files in the same directory as the NetWorker client program files, NetWorker_install_directory\bin. The EMC NetWorker Installation Gide describes nondefalt installations. If the Setp program detects no NetWorker client program files, the Setp program displays an error message and exits withot installing NMSAP. 3. Perform the appropriate task to install the RMAN component: For a new installation, select Install the Oracle RMAN component on the Oracle RMAN spport screen. For an pdate installation, select the NMSAP Oracle RMAN featre on the Cstom Setp screen. Do not install the RMAN component if NetWorker Modle for Databases and Applications (NMDA) or NetWorker Modle for Oracle (NMO) software is installed on the host. 4. Click Finish to exit the Setp program. When the installation completes, a message describes how to start the backp configration wizard. The EMC NetWorker Modle for SAP Administration Gide describes the wizard. 5. Verify that the system Path environment variable incldes the NetWorker client installation directory. For example: a. Right-click My Compter and select Manage. b. Click Properties. c. On the Advanced tab, nder Environment Variables, click Settings. d. In the System Variables, verify the Path variable. If reqired, add the NetWorker client installation directory. The NetWorker client directory pathname can inclde spaces. There cannot be spaces before or after the pathname. 6.
