1 Issue: DBF file missing issue encountered by Sage UBS 2015 user in client server environment with shared data folder access. [Certain files from shared folder (main PC) are not shown up on remote PC (client PC)]. Windows version involved: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2. Similar error message appeared from client PC but not main PC(server): File X:\DataFolder\userpin.dbf does not exist. Sample screenshot of error message prompt: Symptom: 1. The client PC trying to access the said (*.dbf) file from the shared data folder remotely which stored on the server (user s main PC), but the file could not be accessed successfully. 2. When you open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the said shared folder (mapped network drive), you cannot find the said (*.dbf) file exists. If you open Windows File Explorer from your server (user s main PC), navigate to the actual folder on this PC, you can find the said (*.dbf) file exists on this PC. Symptom explanation from Microsoft: 1. You open and then close a remote folder by using Windows Explorer on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. 2. A user on a different computer adds a file to the remote folder. 3. You open the remote folder by using Windows Explorer again. In this scenario, the file that the user added is not displayed in Windows Explorer, even after the redirector directory cache on the computer expires. 1

2 Steps to get the Windows Hotfix Patch related this issue (for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2): Note: - Please apply this on both client and server (main PC), it is recommended to create a Windows Restore Point before applying this hotfix, check Appendix for reference. - For Windows version other than Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, please skip the steps of hotfix installation below and proceed to step 13 directly. 1. Browse the URL on web browser ( On the page from URL given, click on the Hotfix Download Available button to proceed. 2. Read through the Agreement from Microsoft and accept it to proceed to next step. 2

Please tick the option of hotfix patch file which is provided by Microsoft based on its analysis, enter your address and click on Request hotfix button, you will receive the URL to download the hotfix from Microsoft via Open the that you ve received, click on the URL provided at the end of the to download the file. 5. Run the downloaded file. Click on Continue button. 3

4 6. Assign a temporary folder where the installation file to be extracted to and click on OK button. 7. Once file extraction completed, click OK button to close this dialog. 8. Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the temporary folder which you ve given at step 6, run the Windows hotfix file. 9. Once the file was executed, dialog below would be shown.s 4

5 10. Wait until you see the dialog below, click Yes to install the hotfix update. 11. The dialog below would be shown during the installation process. 12. Once installation completed, click Restart Now to restart your PC. 13. After the server (main PC) was restarted, open its Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Accounting or Inventory Billing folder based on which product s company data is having the issue followed by steps below based on example using C:\UBSSTK2015\TestCompany data folder: a. Move the TestCompany data folder out from current parent folder ( C:\UBSSTK2015 ) to a temporary folder for example C:\temp folder. b. After that, copy the folder C:\temp\TestCompany back to the said parent folder ( C:\UBSSTK2015 ). 5
