The savings is determined by calculating the energy consumption of a constant speed drive (displayed via CSD kwh Meter), and subtracting the measured energy consumption of the variable speed drive (displayed via VSD kwh Meter). The resulting difference is the energy savings. The OptiSave feature only generates data that is displayed and written to the BRAM, it does not affect chiller operation or performance. The energy consumption of the constant speed drive is calculated by using equations that have been developed to provide an equivalent constant speed operating point based on the Input Power (VSD kw) of the variable speed drive and the Return Chilled Liquid Temperature. The Chiller OptiView Software is shipped with the OptiSave feature disabled. The commissioning service technician may enable the OptiSave feature, if desired, by contacting Service Marketing ( ) to obtain the following necessary installation and setup information: Admin. COMPLETE OPTISAVE DATA RESETS Logout of the Administrator access level by pressing the key below the Logout label 3 rd from the lower left at the base of the Home screen. Verify access level is View. OPTISAVE CONTROLS Data Corrections On Power Up The hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly averages and totals are adjusted for any time that has elapsed while the control panel was powered off. Array points corresponding to the time during which the panel was powered off are filled with default data. Data Corrections When The Time Or Date Are Modified Because the hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly averages and totals are performed based on calendar time, adjustments are made if the user changes the time or date of the control panel. To limit the effect of changing the time and/or date, twice the required array elements are stored (i.e. save 48 hours, 60 days, 24 months, etc.) in a circular queue. The head of the queue is moved so that it points to the element whose Julian date stamp most closely matches the time and date currently read from the panel. However, it is still possible that data may be lost with this method. In the case of lost data, those array elements are filled with default data. Do Not Reset Time or Date arbitrarily, OptiSave data may be compromised. BRAM Replacement or Clearing If the microboard BRAM is replaced or is cleared, the following OptiSave setpoints and data would need to be manually captured prior to the BRAM being replaced or cleared and re-entered afterward from the OptiSave Energy Analyzer and OptiSave Energy Analyzer Data screens: Enable OptiSave Price Per kwh VSD Design kw CSD Design kw YORK INTERNATIONAL 9

10 Home Screen Display VSD kwh Meter CSD kwh Meter Total Saved Energy Monthly Total Energy Saved Meter (x12 months) The above setpoint values, except Enable OptiSave, may be captured via the OptiSave Energy Analyzer Setpoints print report or read from the OptiSave Energy Analyzer Data screen at the Administrator access level. The following OptiSave information stored in BRAM would be permanently lost: Hourly Average Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x24 hours) Daily Average Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x30 days) Monthly Average Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x12 months) Yearly Average Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x20 years) Hourly Minimum Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x24 hours) Daily Minimum Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x30 days) Monthly Minimum Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x12 months) Yearly Minimum Return Condenser Liquid Temperature (x20 years) Hourly Total Saved Energy (x24 hours) Daily Total Saved Energy (x30 days) Yearly Total Saved Energy (x20 years) Last Full Calendar Month Savings Last Full Calendar Month Minimum Return Condenser Liquid Temperature The above data will again begin to be recalculated and stored in BRAM afterward and going forward. Do Not replace or clear BRAM arbitrarily, OptiSave data may be compromised. Software Program Software Replacement Installing an earlier software program without the OptiSave feature: OptiSave specific data values are written to the BRAM. Should an OptiSave featured software program be replaced with an earlier non-optisave software version the OptiSave feature will not be available. The OptiSave data values previously stored in the BRAM will remain intact at the point when the OptiSave featured software was removed. OptiSave data will not be calculated or updated while the non-optisave software version is installed. Should a later OptiSave featured software program be reinstalled and the OptiSave feature re-enabled the prior OptiSave data in the BRAM will be read by the software and displayed on the OptiSave Energy Analyzer screen. The OptiSave data will be calculated and incremented going forward as the VSD motor controller operates and the OptiSave feature is Enabled. Installing a later OptiSave featured software program: OptiSave specific data values are written to the BRAM. Should a later version OptiSave featured software program be installed the prior OptiSave data in the BRAM will be read by the software and displayed on the OptiSave Energy Analyzer screen. Three different access levels are provided as follows: VIEW: The panel defaults to the lowest access level which is termed VIEW. In this mode, the chiller operating values and setpoints can be observed, but no changes can be made. OPERATOR: The second access level is termed OPERATOR and will allow the customer to change all of the setpoints required to operate the chiller system. The OPERATOR access level reverts to the VIEW level after 10 continuous minutes without a keypress. SERVICE: In the event that advanced diagnostics are necessary, a SERVICE access level has been provided. Only qualified service personnel utilize this access level. This level provides advanced control over many of the chiller functions and allows calibration of many of the chiller controls.
