1 The Payment Review module is used to reconcile payments, prepare deposits, and verify finished payments. After a batch of payments has been reconciled, the payments must be moved to the Deposited state to prevent editing or deleting. This creates a permanent record in the system as part of the audit trail. Typically this is performed once a day but can be performed as often as required. 4 The Payment Review Selection Criteria dialog is displayed. Included are several fields which can be used to specify the payments which require review. The results may be filtered by Patient, Payer, Posted Date Range, or User. Typically, deposits are made for the entire practice. 8 The Payment Review window is displayed, consisting of a toolbar, a series of filter buttons and a list pane. Payments meeting the criteria which are currently in the Received state are displayed. 16 In larger practices, payments may need to be transferred to an accounting department for processing and deposit to the bank. In this case, the administrator would modify the state to Transferred. In smaller practices where the administrator would be responsible for bank deposits, the transfer state is unnecessary and therefore, the state of the payments can be modified to the deposited state.
