2 1. Creating a new project Launch ContextCapture Master Enter name and location of the project 2

3 2. Importing your data Open the photo tab and browse your photo dataset using Add photos or Add entire directory 3

4 The photos have been importing in a photogroup. The camera sensor size and focal length have been extracted from the EXIF info and ContextCapture camera database. The position of the photos have been extracted from the EXIF as well. By default ContextCapture interpret the Z value as MSL height. If the Z value of your GPS tags are ellipsoid height, click on the modify link in the bottom panel and select ellipsoidal height. (To know how your Z value are defined, please refer to your acquisition device manual). 3. Checking the geo-positioning of your block Go to the 3D view tab. Thanks to the Geo-tags, your photos are already pre-positioned. 4

5 You can also export your block as a KML file to check the geo-referencing in Google Earth: Right click on your block -> export -> Export to KML Save and open the KML file in Google Earth 5

6 4. Processing the aerotriangulation Back to the general tab, select submit aerotriangulation The aerotriangulation definition window pops up 6

7 Change or leave the default name for the new block that will be created. In the positioning/georeferencing page, select the mode you want to use. Since your dataset contains geo-tags, select use photo positioning data. In the settings page, leave the default settings and press submit. 7

8 The AT is now pending and ContextCapture Master is waiting for an Engine to process the job Launch ContextCapture Engine from desktop icon A command window will appear and the Engine will start processing the job. Once the AT is done the status becomes complete photos and the positioning level is georeferenced (thanks to the GPS-tags). Go to the 3D view tab to check the positioning of the photos. 8

9 The displayed points are the automatic tie-points used by ContextCapture to link the photo together. 5. Creating a new reconstruction A Reconstruction item manages a 3D reconstruction framework (spatial reference system, region-ofinterest, tiling, constraints, retouching, processing settings). Based on the reconstruction item, one or several productions can be launched. To create a reconstruction, go back to the general tab and click on create reconstruction Go to the Spatial framework tab to setup the bounding box and tiling (if needed). 9

10 Alternatively, you can use a KML polygon to define the bounding box: Go in google earth and create a new polygon and save it in KML Import your KML in the spatial framework tab 10

11 Apply a planar grid tiling and change the tile size: 11

12 To change processing settings got to processing settings tab: Once you reconstruction framework is all setup, go back to the general tab to submit a new production. 6. Submitting a new production 12

13 The production definition window shows up. In the purpose page, choose the purpose of your production 13

14 In the format/options page, choose the format and options for the specific purpose. In the Spatial reference system page, select the SRS you want your model to be produced in. 14

15 Select a default or recent SRS or open the SRS database for more choice 15

16 In the Extent page, choose the tiles you want to produce. The selection can be done using the 3D view, a KML polygon, or a txt file containing the tile name. 16

17 Select the destination folder and press submit Select your production in the project tree to see the progress of the process 17

18 7. Visualizing the production Visualize the 3D model in the 3D view tab (only works for S3C 3MX and single-tile OBJs). Alternatively, open the model in Acute3D viewer. Use Acute3D viewer to perform distance, surface and volume measurements: 18
