GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING SAFETY Read ad keep the followig istructios. Observe all warigs ad follow all istructios attached to the priter. Before cleaig the priter, discoect the feed cable. Clea the priter with a damp cloth. Do ot use liquid or spray products. Do ot operate the priter ear to water. 1

Use the type of electricity supply marked o the priter label. I the evet of ucertaity, cotact the seller. Do ot put objects of ay kid iside the priter as they could cause a short circuit or damage parts which could affect its performace. Do ot spill liquids o the priter. Do ot carry out techical operatios o the priter with the exceptio of the scheduled maiteace operatios specifically idicated i the user s maual. Discoect the priter from the electricity supply ad have it repaired by a specialized techicia should ay of the followig coditios occur: A. The feed coector has bee damaged; B. Liquid has peetrated to the iside of the priter; C. The priter has bee exposed to rai or water; D. The priter is ot operatig ormally despite the istructios i the user s maual havig bee followed; E. The priter has bee dropped ad its case damaged; F. The performace of the priter is poor; G. The priter does ot work. UNPACKING THE PRINTER Remove the priter from the box, takig care ot to damage the packig material, as it could be eeded for future trasportatio of the machie. 10 INTRODUCTION GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS The priter is a practical, user-friedly rack priter. It is, therefore, the ideal solutio for applicatios which require the immediate pritig of data o a ticket, whether they be of a idustrial, professioal or laboratory ature: code cacellig systems, parkig lots, videogames, receipts, self-service machies ad automatic dispesers i geeral. It is equipped with a 204 dpi (8 dots/mm) thermal prit mechaism ad uses 60mm paper rolls. The priter has a wide rage of supplemetary fuctios i additio to ormal prit fuctios: High speed pritig: 130 mm/sec ( ormal). Easy paper chagig (automatic paper loadig). ESC/POS, CUSTOM DPT ad CITIZEN emulatio. Bar-codes: UPC-A. UPC-E, EAN13, EAN8, CODE39, ITF, CODABAR, CODE93, CODE128 e CODE32. 7 stadard ad iteratioal character fots. Etirely or partially programmable fots. Double width-height, quadruple width-height, expaded prit, italics rotated by 180. Macro fuctio defiitio for the automatic repetitio of the operatios. Iteral programmable couter. Graphic mode. Prit desity. 3 programmable logotypes ( 448 x 585 poits ). There are already two iterfaces o the card: RS232 serial ad cetroics parallel. 8 Kbyte receptio buffer. 4

11 INTRODUCTION DESCRIPTION OF THE PRINTER The priter (fig.2) cosists of a framework (2) with a support (1) for the paper roll, ad a prit mechaism (3). The keypad, cosistig of the PRINT (5) ad FEED (6) keys plus a lumious led (4) is housed udereath the paper slit. (Fig.2) PRINT key. Whe the priter iterface is RS232 serial ad the PRINT key is pressed, the priter trasmits the code 13 ($ 0D) i serial. This fuctio ca be disabled or modified by the software commad ESC K. (See paragraph relative to the software commads). If, o switchig o the priter, the PRINT key is held dow, the priter will ru the GRAPHIC TEST with 3 programmable logotypes. FEED key. Whe the FEED key is pressed, the priter carries out the paper forward feed fuctio, required whe the paper is iserted i the prit mechaism. If pressed oce, the key forward feeds the paper twice. If, o switchig o the priter, the FEED key is held dow, the priter rus the FONT TEST. The gree LED sigals a priter hardware error. The cotrol is ru o lie, i.e. i the evet of malfuctioig, the led starts flashig as per the followig table: 5

13 1. INSTALLATION AND USE 1.1 CONNECTIONS (Fig.1.1) Power supply The power ifeed o the priter is a 2.1mm bipolar jack socket. WARNING: Respect the polarity of the power supply Drawer kick-out coector The impulse specified by the commad ESC P is a output sigal to this coector. The host ca ackowledge the status of the iput sigals through the commads DLE EOT, ESC u, GS r. Drawer kick-out coector Soleoid Outout Wave form WARNING: i order to avoid a overcurret, the resistace of the drawer kick-out coector must be 24 Ω or more. (Fig.1.2) Drawer kick-out eablig sigal Curret: 1A (max 10 sec.) or less Output wave form: t1 (ON time) ad t2 (OFF time) are specified by ESC P. Durig the ON time phase (t1), the output voltage is approx. 0V. Durig the OFF time phase (t2), the output sigal is at high impedace. 1.2 CONFIGURATION The priter eables the cofiguratio of the priter default parameters. The parameters affected durig cofiguratio are: Priter emulatio:esc/pos, CUSTOM DPT24, CUSTOM DPT42 or CBM idp560rs. If preset serial iterface : Baud Rate: 57600, 38400, D, 9600, 4800, 2400, Legth of data: 7, 8 D bits/car. Parity: Noe D, parity o parity oe. Flow cotrol: XON/XOFF D o Hardware. Automatic feed: CR Disabled D o CR Eabled. Paell Key: Eabled D o Disabled Prit mode: Normal D o Reverse. 1-2

CWith CUSTOM DPTxx: Type of Fot: Fot A or Fot B. Speed: Normal D, Low. Offlie (1) : Disabled D, Eabled. Prit desity: Normal D,Dark, Light. Notes : The parameters idicates with a D symbol are the default values. (1) NOTE: Parameter valid oly o serial priter. Usig this parameter, it is possible to select whether the Busy sigal is activated whe the priter is both i Off Lie status (see sectio 2.5) ad the buffer is full, or oly if the buffer is full. The settigs made are saved o the EEPROM (o volatile memory). If whe the priter is switched o, the PRINT ad FEED keys are held dow, the priter eters cofiguratio mode ad prits. After the setup report, the priter waits util a key is pressed or characters are received from the port; every 10 characters, it prits hexadecimal values ad ASCII codes (if the characters are uderlied, this meas that the receptio buffer is full), see Hexadecimal dump. Whe the FEED key is pressed, the priter skips setup mode ad termiates the Hexadecimal dump fuctio. Whe the PRINT key is pressed, the priter eters parameter settig mode. 1.3 HEXADECIMAL DUMP After completig the autotest procedure, the priter eters Hexadecimal Dump mode. This fuctio is used for the diagostics of characters received i serial. I fact, these are prited i hexadecimal code together with the correspodig Ascii code. 1-3

17 1. INSTALLATION AND USE WARNING Before isertig the paper, esure that it is cut evely. (Fig.1.4) Access to priter mechaism for the L model To access to priter mechaism it s ecessary to lift up the autocutter. To ulock the autocutter pull lightly the side wiglets, as show i fig (Fig.1.5) 1-5

19 2. INTERFACES (Fig.2.1) 2.1 RS232 SERIAL The priter has a RS232 serial iterface ad is coected by meas of a 25-pi female coector. I the serial protocol, the sigals which distiguish the commuicatio are TXD, RXD, ad RTS if the RTS/CTS protocol has bee selected while, if the XON/XOFF protocol has bee selected, the sigals are TXD ad RXD. 24 3.2 CONTROL CHARACTERS ESC/POS Emulatio The followig table lists all the commads for the maagemet of the ESC/ POS Emulatio of the priter. The commads ca be trasmitted to the priter at ay momet, but they will oly be carried out whe the commads previously set have bee executed.
