Follow all warigs ad istructios idicated o the priter. Before cleaig the priter, discoect the power supply. Clea the priter with a damp cloth. Do ot use liquid or spray products. Do ot operate the priter ear water. Do ot use the priter o ustable surfaces that might cause it to fall ad be seriously damaged. 1

11 INTRODUCTION Oly use the priter o hard surfaces ad i eviromets that guaratee proper vetilatio. Make sure the priter is placed i such a way as to avoid damage to its wirig. Use the type of electrical power supply idicated o the priter label. If i doubt, cotact your retailer. Do ot block the vetilatio opeigs. Do ot itroduce foreig objects of ay kid ito the priter as this could cause a short circuit or damage parts that could jeopardize priter fuctioig. Do ot spill liquids oto the priter. Do ot carry out techical operatios o the priter, with the exceptio of the scheduled maiteace procedures specifically idicated i the user maual. Discoect the priter from the electricity supply ad have it repaired by a specialized techicia whe: A. The feed coector has bee damaged. B. Liquid has seeped iside the priter. C. The priter has bee exposed to rai or water. D. The priter is ot fuctioig ormally despite the fact that all istructios i the users maual have bee followed. E. The priter has bee dropped ad its outer casig damaged. F. Priter performace is poor. G. The priter is ot fuctioig. UNPACKING THE PRINTER Remove the priter from its carto beig careful ot to damage the packig material so that it may be re-used if the priter is to be trasported i the future. Two ticket presetatio systems are available o the series: - Motor-drive dispeser with sesors o the dispeser that holds the ticket while it is beig prited ad the delivers it oce it has bee cut. 13 INTRODUCTION PRINTER DESCRIPTION The priters (fig.1) are comprised of a metal frame (1), paper roll holder (2), pritig mechaism (3) ad cutter (4). The followig keys are located o the cotrol pael: FORM FEED (5), LINE FEED (6), Power O LED (7), Paper Low LED (8) ad Status LED (9). (Fig.1) Whe the LINE FEED (6) key is pressed, the priter advaces the paper so that it may be iserted maually i the pritig mechaism. Durig power-up, if the LINE FEED key is held dow, the priter will perform the FONT TEST routie. If the FORM FEED (5) key is eabled, whe it is pressed the priter advaces the paper the umber of icremets programmed i the Eeprom. 4

14 INTRODUCTION f the FORM FEED key is ot eabled ad the priter is i Custom Emulatio mode, whe the key is pressed, the code 12 (HEX 0C) is trasmitted o the RS232 serial lie. This fuctio may be modified by the ESC = software commad (see sectio o software commads). Durig power-up, if both keys are held dow, the priter eters the prit setup routie. Followig the prit-out of the setup report, the priter remais i stadby util a key is pressed or sigals arrive from the serial port; each 10 characters it prits out hexadecimal ad ASCII codes (if the characters are uderlied, the receive buffer is full); see Receive buffer hexidecimal prit-out The Power O LED (gree) idicates that the priter is o. The Paper Low LED (red) idicates that the paper is about to ru out. The Status LED (yellow) idicates priter status; the check is made o-lie. 18 1. INSTALLATION AND USE 1.3 CONFIGURATION This priter permits the cofiguratio of default parameters. The priter s cofigurable parameters are: Priter emulatio: ESC/POS, CUSTOM TPT D. If a serial iterface is preset: Baud Rate: 576, 384, 192, 96 D, 48, 24, 12. Data legth: 7, 8 bits/char D. Parity: Noe D, eve or odd. Hadshakig: XON/XOFF D or Hardware. If a parallel iterface is preset: Select lie: Select D, Ticket Preset, Paper Low. Fault lie: Error D, Ticket Preset, Paper Low. Autofeed: CR deactivated D or CR activated. Pael keys: Activated D or deactivated. Prit mode: Normal D or Reverse. Height mode: x1 D, x2 or x4. Width mode: x1 D, x2 or x4. Justificatio: Left D, Cetered or Right. The settigs made are stored i EEPROM (ovolative memory). Durig power-up, if both the LINE FEED ad FORM FEED keys are held dow, the priter eters cofiguratio mode ad prits-out the setup report; it will remai i stadby util a key is pressed or characters are received through the commuicatio port (see Hexadecimal dump). Whe the LINE FEED key is pressed, the priter skips the setup mode ad termiates the Hexadecimal dump fuctio. Whe the FORM FEED key is pressed, the priter eters the parameter etry mode. 1.4 HEXADECIMAL DUMP This fuctio is used to diagose the characters received through the commuicatio port; the characters are prited out both as hexadecimal codes ad ASCII codes. Oce the self-test routie has fiished, the priter eters Hexadecimal Dump mode. The priter remais i stadby util a key is pressed or characters are received through the commuicatio port. For every 10 characters received, the hexadecimal ad correspodig ASCII codes are prited out (if the characters are uderlied, the receive buffer is full). INSTALLATION AND USE 1.5 MAINTENANCE Chagig the paper roll Depedig o how the priter Paper Autoload parameter is set, oe of two procedures must be followed: If eabled: Positio the paper roll (1), so that it urolls correctly as show i fig. 1.4; isert the paper ito the ifeed slot (3) ad wait for the roll to load automatically. If ot eabled, proceed as follows: 1) Positio the paper roll (1), so that it urolls correctly as show i fig. 1.4; 2) Raise the prit head by liftig the lever (2) i the directio idicated by the arrow; (Fig.1.4) 2 3) Isert the ed of the paper roll ito the ifeed slot (3) ad have it pass beyod the prit head; 4) Lower the head lever (3) ad press the LINE FEED key (4), so that the paper will feed a few cetimeters out of the priter. 1-6
