2 CertiPUR-US Prgram Terms f Use Manual May 2017 Even if yur cmpany is buying certified fam, yur cmpany des nt have permissin t use the CertiPUR-US name/lg/r mark unless the cmpany is fficially registered with the prgram and abides by the rules and requirements set frth in this manual. Retailers If yu are selling brands cntaining certified fam that are already listed n ur website at certipur.us/listings, yu nly need t submit Frm B n page 6 f this dcument t becme a participating retailer. Be sure t list the specific brands yu sell. Eligibility fr Participatin in the CertiPUR-US prgram The CertiPUR-US mark may nly be used in cnjunctin with flexible plyurethane fam, merchandise cntaining flexible plyurethane fam, and flexible plyurethane fam prducts used in bedding and uphlstered furniture that cmply with the requirements assciated with the CertiPUR-US prgram including the Physical Perfrmance and Envirnmental Guidelines fr Prime Flexible Plyurethane Fam fr Use in Furniture and Bedding. The Alliance fr Flexible Plyurethane Fam, Inc., the nt-fr-prfit rganizatin that manages the CertiPUR-US prgram, reserves the right t inspect and test merchandise and prducts that are designated as cntaining CertiPUR-US certified fam t determine if they are in cmpliance with CertiPUR-US prgram requirements. Hw t Register and Get Listed n the Website Registratin is free, but yu must fllw these steps: #1 Yu must sign the agreement, Frm B, n page 6 f this dcument indicating that yu understand and will abide by the rules gverning use f the CertiPUR-US name/lg/mark. #2 We must have n file, directly frm the cmpany frm whm yu buy certified fam, Verificatin Frm A, that cnfirms the cmpany is selling yu certified fam. If yur verificatin letter cmes directly frm ne f ur registered fam prducers yur file will be cmplete and yu will receive a letter f permissin t use the CertiPUR-US name/ lg/mark accrding t the rules set frth in this dcument. If yu are purchasing certified fam indirectly, i.e. frm a distributr, fabricatr, r ther cmpany, that cmpany must have gne thrugh the prcess abve befre yu can be registered. All supply chain infrmatin is kept cmpletely cnfidential. #3 Yu will receive a letter f permissin t use the CertiPUR-US lg/mark/name frm prgram administratrs, have access t art files f the lg, and the pprtunity t rder hangtags and ther merchandise. Rules fr Participating Manufacturers, Distributrs, & Retailers Pre-Apprval f Prmtinal Material Required Pre-apprval f all ads, brchures, signage, sales sheets, web pages, marketing materials, news releases, r any ther prmtinal materials that use the CertiPUR-US lg/name/mark MUST be sent t apprvals@certipur.us fr apprval befre printing r publishing. Apprval r required revisins will be sent back within tw business days. Crrect use f CertiPUR-US Name Nte that the CertiPUR-US prgram shuld never be referred t as just CertiPUR, since the latter is the Eurpean prgram frm which CertiPUR-US was adapted and is a separate and distinct prgram. In additin, the CertiPUR-US name must never be used n its wn. In text and in print frm, the CertiPUR-US must always be used as as adjective mdifying an apprpriate nun. In cpy, sme examples f crrect use wuld be CertiPUR-US mark, CertiPUR-US guidelines, CertiPUR-US certificatin, r CertiPUR-US prgram. The Alliance fr Flexible Plyurethane Fam, Inc. (AFPF) has an aggressive prgram in place t mnitr use f the CertiPUR-US mark. The integrity f the CertiPUR-US prgram and its value t participating cmpanies is enhanced thrugh vigilant prtectin f the CertiPUR-US mark. If yu suspect misuse, please write t us at inf@certipur.us. Claims Be careful abut claims. Be sure it is clear that it is the fam that is certified nt the mattress, uphlstered furniture, prduct line, r cmpany. Avid psitining the CertiPUR-US lg, r language in any way that implies an endrsement and/r relatinship between the CertiPUR-US and any ther claim. Flame retardant claims: Certified fams are made withut PBDEs, TDCPP r TCEP ( Tris ) flame retardants (FRs). Other prhibited FRs are listed in The Technical Guidelines and at Yu cannt claim r imply that certificatin means there are n FRs in the prduct. yu can say: The fam is: Made withut zne depleters Made withut PBDEs, TDCPP r TCEP ( Tris ) flame retardants Made withut mercury, lead and heavy metals Made withut frmaldehyde Made withut phthalates regulated by the Cnsumer Prduct Safety Cmmissin Lw VOC (Vlatile Organic Cmpund) emissins fr indr air quality (less than 0.5 parts per millin) Language Whenever pssible, use cpy as it appears n hangtag r website. Labels n Prducts The CertiPUR-US lg, mark r name cannt be the nly identificatin n a prduct label r package as this may lead a cnsumer t mistakenly believe that the CertiPUR-US prgram is the manufacturer f the prduct. The mark, lg r name must be used nly when in additin t the name, website, r sme cntact pint, f the manufacturer f the prduct. Links T prvide additinal infrmatin abut the prgram, yu may link t the CertiPUR-US website at When Multiple Fams are Used in One Prduct If a prduct cntains a cmbinatin f CertiPUR-US certified fam and plyurethane fam that is nt certified, yu cannt use the CertiPUR-US name r lg in assciatin with that prduct. Hwever, as lng as all the plyurethane fam in a prduct is certified, r if a cmbinatin f certified plyurethane fam and a nn-plyurethane fam such as latex is used, yu may use the CertiPUR-US mark/lg/name because the CertiPUR-US prgram relates nly t flexible plyurethane fam as stated n the lg. 4 CertiPUR-US Prgram Terms f Use Manual May 2017 Graphics & Style Guidelines Overview This CertiPUR-US Prgram Terms f Use Manual was created t prmte and prtect the image and use f the CertiPUR-US mark/lg/seal by achieving a cnsistent lk acrss all materials, including printed publicatins, dwnladable PDFs, written crrespndence, as well as all website cntent ( When the same lg, clrs, and fnts are used, CertiPUR-US materials ffer a unified image t cnsumers, thereby enhancing recgnitin f the certificatin name and prgram. Branding Elements Clrs The green and blue frm the CertiPUR-US lg shuld be used as prminent clrs in a publicatin. The spt clrs fr a tw- r three-clr dcument are: PANTONE 576 PANTONE 287 The nly crrect CertiPUR-US prgram lg is shwn here in clr, and in black and white. Request lg art files in varius frmats at frms@certipur.us. The CertiPUR-US Mark/Lg/Seal The lg that represents cmpliance with the CertiPUR-US prgram is shwn in the clumn t the left. This CertiPUR-US lg shuld be used with the prgram s hangtag and any representatinal images f the hangtag, r a label that appears directly n a cmpliant prduct. It may als be used in a printed r electrnic representatin f a specific prduct that cntains CertiPUR-US apprved fams exclusively. If a cmpany ffers any prducts cntaining flexible plyurethane fams that are nt registered with the CertiPUR-US prgram, care must be taken t use the lg nly n pages and in clse assciatin with the specific prducts r prduct lines cntaining nly CertiPUR-US registered fams. In cases where a cmpany nly ffers CertiPUR-US registered fams in all its prducts cntaining flexible plyurethane fams, the lg may be used in a brader cntext in print r electrnic prmtinal matter. The green-and-blue versin f the lg shuld be used in tw-clr and fur-clr publicatins. Please see the Clrs sectin in this dcument fr the Pantne numbers f the lg clrs and their fur-clr equivalents (as well as ther clr schemes). In the case f a black-nly publicatin, a grayscale versin f the lg may be included. This versin uses screens f black ink t create different tnes f gray. In prfessinally designed publicatins, the EPS (vectr) file f the lg shuld be used, as it will prduce the sharpest reslutin. With crrespndence and internal dcuments, a JPG r PNG may be used, as they prvide better results with Micrsft Office sftware. Green: Pantne 576 Blue: Pantne 287 In fur-clr cated publicatins, the Cyan, Magenta, Yellw, and Black (CMYK) equivalents f these clrs are: Green: Cyan 54%, Magenta 5%, Yellw 94%, and Black (K) 24% Blue: Cyan 100%, Magenta 75%, Yellw 2%, and Black (K) 18% In fur-clr uncated publicatins, the Cyan, Magenta, Yellw, and Black (CMYK) equivalents f these clrs are: Green: Cyan 50%, Magenta 4%, Yellw 92%, and Black (K) 20% Blue: Cyan 92%, Magenta 62%, Yellw 0%, and Black (K) 0% The Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) equivalents are: Green: Red 92%, Green 135%, and Blue 39% Blue: Red 0, Green 83%, and Blue 155% Fr Micrsft Wrd users, these RGB numbers may be applied t create clrs that fit with the CertiPUR-US lg. (The title and main headings in this dcument are frmatted in the lg s green.) T use these clrs in MS Wrd, select text, then click Frmat > Fnt > Fnt Clr: > Mre Clrs and the Clrs dialgue bx will appear. In this dialgue bx, click the Custm tab and fill in the RGB bxes with the numbers abve. Fr prfessinally designed materials, use Myriad Pr as the prminent typeface. If Myriad Pr is nt available, a sans serif typeface such as News Gthic, Helvetica, r Arial may be applied. Fr written crrespndence and internal dcuments, the typeface Times New Rman shuld be used in bdy cpy, as it is widely available n PC platfrms. Use Arial in the title and heading levels. Using the CertiPUR-US Mark within Text The registered certificatin mark shuld be added adjacent t the S (example: CertiPUR-US ) in the use f the CertiPUR-US name. In additin, the CertiPUR-US name must never be used n its wn. In text and in print frm, the CertiPUR-US name must always be used as an adjective mdifying an apprpriate nun.
