3 efore you begin Welcome The system you are about to install comes factory pre-loaded with EMC Celerra Network Server software (DRT) and CLRiiON storage array software (FLRE ). Software upgrade Primary internal network If you bought a software maintenance contract, you are entitled to software upgrades only after the installation, Celerra Startup ssistant (), and registration have successfully completed. Site preparation Complete the site preparation by verifying the following activities before instal lation: Network connections Power requirements Rack space requirements Default IP addresses The system components communicate with each other using a private Internet Protocol (IP) network. y default, this network uses the IP addresses listed in the following table. If your existing IP network uses addresses on these subnets, you are required to change the private network addresses of your Celerra Network Server to different subnets before the installation. 5 Installation overview steps Installation steps:. Review and complete the Celerra worksheet, pages 9-34, and verify that the site is properly prepared for the installation of your Celerra NS-48. bout minutes.. If your Celerra NS-48 is to be installed in a customer-supplied rack, use this document to unpack the system from the mini-rack shipping container, remove the reusable rails, and install the system in your available rack. bout 4 minutes. Note: If your Celerra NS-48 system arrived at your site in a pre-installed cabinet and is previously cabled, verify the cabling before you begin the use of your system. Cable your system according to the instructions and illustrations contained in this document. Ensure that all of your cables are seated securely. bout 45 minutes. 3. When you install your Celerra NS-48, use the Celerra Startup ssistant () to pre-confi gure your system. The latest version of the can be downloaded from the Celerra Tools section on Powerlink. The is also on the Celerra pplications & Tools CD. bout 5 minutes. 4. Register your system with the service provider. If you do not register your system now, using the Celerra Startup ssistant, your request for support from your service provider will be delayed. You can also register your Celerra NS-48 by downloading the Registration Wizard on Powerlink. bout 5 minutes. Implementation step: 5. fter you have registered your Celerra NS-48 system, you must confi gure the system for production. You can use the Provisioning Wizard in the, one of the several pre-packaged implementation confi gurations based on common usages, or your own implementation using Unisphere to confi gure your system. t the end of each one of these confi gurations, your system will be ready for production. 5
6 Unpacking the Celerra NS-48 system If your Celerra NS-48 system was purchased and shipped in an EMC 4 Unit cabinet (7 in. in height; unit =.75 in.), start on page 5 of this document and confi rm that the cables are installed correctly and securely; otherwise start unpacking your Celerra NS-48 system from the disposable mini-rack shipping container. 29 installation worksheet Complete the worksheet and use this information to install using the Celerra Startup ssistant (). Download the latest version of the from the Celerra Tools section of Powerlink. Getting Started with the Celerra Startup ssistant can be downloaded from Powerlink and provides more information on the pre-confi guration and provisioning processes. Note: If you want to confi gure the IPv6 addresses for the Control Station (Control Station address, DNS, or NTP) or for the Data Movers (DNS or NTP), use the for the initial installation and then refer to the Confi guring and Managing Celerra Networking technical module and Celerra Network Server Command Reference Manual to complete the IPv6 additions. The pre-populates values based on auto-discovery from your Windows client. Shaded fi elds below are values that will be auto-discovered based on your system and network environment; if auto-discovery fails, you need to provide the information manually.. Record the appropriate Control Station public LN settings. Field Value Primary hostname Primary IP address (For second Control Station only) Secondary hostname (For second Control Station only) Secondary IP address Netmask Gateway DNS domain Primary DNS server Secondary DNS server NTP server Time Zone. The passwords for the root user/system back-end administrator and NS administrator are default factory values and should be changed as soon as possible for security reasons. The passwords can be changed during the installation process or later, from within Unisphere. root_password (default value = nasadmin) NS dministrator (default value = nasadmin) 9

DNS domain Primary DNS server Secondary DNS server NTP server Note: These settings apply to all primary blades. 4. Record the storage processor public LN IP addresses. Note: Public IP addresses for your storage processors are required for use with the Navisphere Service Taskbar for routine array maintenance and upgrades. In addition, for Celerra systems where Navisphere licenses are in place, Navisphere can be used to manage storage for external host connectivity, and the Celerra. However, we recommend users manage Celerra storage using the Provisioning wizard capability within the or within Unisphere. The IP addresses must be on the same subnet as the Control Station. SP IP address SP IP address 5. If applicable, confi gure service provider/customer notifi cation information. Note: The dial-in modem number is the phone number for the line that connects to the modem. This is the local number that is used by the service provider to dial into your system. Note: will not work without a DNS server.
