1 CASE STUDY TEC Telemetry of water and wastewater networks Project: Ramnad Combined Water Supply Scheme, India City: Trichy District, Tamilnadu Province Country: India Solution Type: Telemetry of water and wastewater networks Client: M/s. TWAD Board Background- TEC presentation TECHNOMATICS provides water, wastewater and customer services management of Turkey s popular summer resort towns of Çeşme and Alaçatı since February In order to improve remote monitoring and management of the potable and wastewater networks, ALÇESU decided to implement to implement a telemetry and SCADA system. The SOFREL solution was selected. The equipment was installed and commissioned in km of water mainline, 15 reservoirs, 3 pumping stations, 1 treatment plant, and 11 water wells are monitored with the SOFREL telemetry system. The main water reservoirs and some important parameters are also monitored in real time through the SCADA control center. The Alaçatı-Çeşme wastewater network covers 220 km of collection lines, 6 pumping stations and 2 sea outfalls. SOFREL Remote Terminal Units are used for the monitoring and process control of the wastewater pumping stations network.
2 The aim of the telemetry system The telemetry and SCADA system has been designed in order to: Improve the efficiency of the network. υreduce operational costs. υ Prevent overflow at water reservoirs. υ Reduce water loss and leakage. υ Control and monitor the equipment remotely. υ Record data from the network. υ Control the water flows at the reservoirs. υ Control the pressure for dayυ & night demands. Get online information about breakdowns, power, generators, levels, pressures, flows,,... υ Improve service quality and customer satisfaction. The telemetry system implemented. SOFREL S550 RTU is installed at the water treatment plant. This device monitors all stages of the plant. The data collected is transmitted every 3 minutes to the remote control center (SOFREL PCWin). 9 CELLBOX are installed at the water reservoirs. They collect data about water level, water flow and security information. The data collected is sent to the control center (SOFREL PCWin) via GSM communication. The use of battery powered CELLBOX RTU s enable the control of isolated sites without power supply In the business of Fluid Flow Engineering - Since
3 υ 3 CELLBOX are installed on the water mainline in order to collect data and monitor mainline pressure and flow. 1 SOFREL S50 is installed at one of the water reservoir in order to control the flow to the reservoir by remote control of the valve with actuator. 1 SOFREL S50 is installed at Ildır pumping station. The S50 collects data such as water levels, pump working hours, flow, power, generator, pressure... The collected data is sent via GSM communication to the remote control center (SOFREL PCWIin) for monitoring and archiving. SOFREL LS42 data loggers are installed at pressure reducers for pressure monitoring. The data collected is sent via GSM network to the PCWin control center. 6 SOFREL S50 Remote Terminal Units are installed at the various wastewater pumping stations (TM17 Alaçatı, TM18 Alaçatı, TM4 Boyalık, TM2 Çeşme, TM20 Dalyan, TM6 Ilıca). These RTU s are controlling and monitoring waste water levels, pressures, pump start-ups, pump shutdowns, electrical and mechanical faults, pump working hours, pumped waste water volumes. Main benefits of the SOFREL system
4 Efficient, fast and reliable data provision. υ Quick remote intervention on demand. υ Obtaining online information about faults and emergencies. υ Direct remote network control. υ Reducing management and operational costs. υ Easy leak and water loss ratio calculation. υ Reduce leak, water loss ratio and Non Revenue Water. υ Efficient and effective manpower and machinery usage. υ Permanent online data archiving.υ
