3 Axis Drive System High performance axis motors combined with Large 40mm diameter ball screws provide 3,800 lbs of thrust per axis, to handle the toughest cutting conditions. Fadal's servo controlled system uses parallel processing to create a fast response system. Dedicated computers on all axes provide the agility you need to maintain accuracy even when the feed rate is turned up. Throughout the day machining conditions vary and that is why Fadal VMCs have cooled ball screws. A refrigeration system is used to maintain ± 1 degree of ambient temperature by recirculating a refrigerant through the center of each ball screw to reduce the risk of thermal growth. This uniquely engineered feature insures consistent positioning accuracy to help maintain part tolerances throughout the day. Constant velocity direct couplers between the axis motor and ball screw provide smooth power transmission for a uniform surface finish. The result is consistently closer machine tolerances over more years of heavy-duty machining. Several of our most popular options are shown on the following pages. --- >~' Servo Coolant Fadal's Servo Coolant Unit assists unattended machining operations. Featuring automatic nozzle positioning (the CNC calculates required cooling line positions by using the tool length offset) the unit increases productivity by eliminating extra setup procedures. Tool Load Compensation This feature dynamically compensates for varying cutting conditions by automatically adjusting the feedrate (either up or down), both improving production and minimizing the time to manually "tune" the programed feedrates. This feature also helps to avoid tool breakage without the need for constant operator monitoring. 10 HYDRO SWEEPTM Chip\Removal System Fadal's computer-controlled HYDRO SWEEPTM Chip Removal System utilizes coolant jets to transfer chips from inside the machine, thus eliminating the need for augers and belts. The conveyor lifts the chips from the side of the machine and then deposits them in a drainage tray. At regular intervals a ram moves the chips from the drainage tray into a 55 gallon barrel. The system is much more efficient and dependable than a chip conveyor. AUTOMATIC PALLET CHANGER Our Pallet Changer meets the requirement for higher production jobs which involve multipart fixturing and long part changes. The CNC continues to run parts on the on-line pallet while the operator loads parts on the off-line pallet. Workers are isolated from the machining area by the automatic door which helps protect them from flying chips and spraying coolant. TS-27R Probe The TS-27 can establish tool diameter, length offsets and be used in conjunction with the setup utility or under program control. This probe can also detect broken tools. IN-PROCESS MEASUREMENT Probing allows the CNC to perform various measurement tasks required during a machining process.

12 World Class Motion/ Fadal CNC Overview Parallel processing promotes machine performance by using up to nine microprocessors working simultaneously to achieve precise servo control. Our control is able to move 128 bits of information at one point in time. This is equivalent to four 32 bit processors. User Friendly BBHS Menu prompting displays all the machine functions in English, eliminating the need to remember tedious keystrokes. This powerful and easy to use feature steps you through the entire setup process from start to finish. Setup Utilities allow quick and easy part setup by automating the many steps you would normally take to establish offsets. Program Verification A graphic representation of the machining operation is displayed on the screen before the machine is actually run. This helps detect geometry errors or other programming mistakes prior to machining the part. Zoom in/out allows you to focus on any specific detail. Each move can be displayed, as well as absolute position and modal G codes. Quick Keys Functions Menu Comprehensive geometric and trigonometric functions are provided to program the part profile at the machine. 13 Optional 32MP with Fadal Visualizer The 32MP provides a shop floor PC interface to our CNC 88HS control. It is equipped with a 486 DX4 loomhz processor with 16Mb RAM, 546Mb hard drive, two 3.5" diskette drive, SVGA video card with 1Mb of memory and a color monitor. This PC has expansion slots allowing network and system upgrade capabilities. Bundled with the 32 MP Control, Facial VisualizerD 1 a unique CAM package allows the user to program from print to part with minimal training and documentation. Having a simple graphic interface means productivity, because the user can program parts quickly and easily. Tool List Tools required by the part program can be defined at any time, simply by selecting from a graphical list of tools and then entering flute length and shank size. There is an option button that allows the programmer to define more complex tools, such as endmills with shapes or undercuts, fly cutters, drills and many others. Tool List Geometry Creation All geometry is created vvith graphical icons using standard geometric shapes such as points, lines and circles. Predefined rectangles, squares (multi sided), slots and hole patterns are provided to enable rapid prototyping of these common shapes. Tool Path Geometry Solid Model Rendering With solid model rendering, the user can visually see their part cut on the screen in real time. This feature has detection for tool shank interference, tools rapiding through walls and non bottom cutting tools attempting to bore in with Z-axis.
