The connectors are keyed and will only fit one way. onnect the Old Axis I/O cable coming from the UBOB into the AIS I/O header on the TOP of the AIS I/O Tap card. Make sure the Axis I/O card does not make contact with anything below it on the G5-4 assembly. A small piece of heavy paper or light plastic taped over the bottom of the PB will insulate it from possibly shorting to anything below it.
3 SETTING UP THE 5TH Driver/Motor as a Hardware Slave to Free up the A Axis In order to use the full 4 axis of motion from the BladeRunner you must use the hardware slaving for the slave axis.. To use hardware slaving the option jumpers on the UBOB card need to be set to slave the 5th axis to the same one the A axis is set to now ( or Y). The software slave in MAH (Axis Slaving) needs to be un-slaved (no slaving). The object is to use the new 5th driver (G5-Solo) to drive the old slaved axis motor so you need to physically plug the old A motor cable into the new G5-solo motor plug. It is probable the new slaved axis will spin the wrong way since it s direction of spin is the same as the other motor. You can reverse a stepper motor direction of spin by simply swapping ONE of the two winding polarity. For example if you have the A and A+ outputs just swap the A with the A+ wire and vice versa on the connector. DO NOT SWAP THE A WINDING WITH EITHER OF THE B WINDINGS OR SWAP THE B WINDING TOO. ross wiring the windings will result in damage to the Gecko drive. Swapping both windings results in the motor still spinning in the same direction! onsult the motor wiring section (first chapter) of the BladeRunner AIO manual to test the windings. The A axis then is independent and can be used for other processes. If you are using our Rotary Wizard it automatically sets rotary motion to the B axis. You must change the pin mapping in Ports & Pins/Motor Outputs and move the Step & Dir pins (8 and ) to the B axis. Enable the B axis and then. DISABLE THE A AIS as it is not used. NOTE: you need a home switch on the Rotary axis to give you zero degrees home position. You will need to go into Ports & Pins/Input Signals and remap the A home signals over to the B Home inputs and disable the A home. IF YOU ARE USING A Home on the slave axis to auto-square your gantry YOU WILL LOSE THAT APABILITY (sorry). Setting UP the 5th axis on a full 5 axis installation. NOTE: To run a full 5 axis system you have to have a nd parallel port card in the P and our PORT Interface ard (which comes with the MPG0B Hand ontroller). You can order the Port Interface card and install it in the BladeRunner AIO box as a separate part #. You must set the 5th axis option jumper on the UBOB to the 5th axis position. That makes PORT pins 4 and pin 6 as the B axis Step & Dir pins. You can use the A as a software slave or as an independent axis.
4 Setup for Hardware slave on G5-Solo and using moving Rotary axis to B from A Setup for Full 5th axis on G5-Solo and using both A and B axis (requires nd parallel card see previous page instructions)
