2 Bike Excite Contents IPod docking station compatibility on WTV models ipod not detected by the machine Problem displaying ipod video New SW version for 700 WTV UB New SW version for 700 WTV UB ACTIVE WTV Codes for WTV display IPod docking station compatibility on WTV models Starting from September 2007, there is a new " station" device available for connecting and managing ipod players on ACTIVE Wellness TV models. This device takes the form of a slot on the upper part of the display, into which an ipod can be inserted and subsequently controlled via the machine's touch screen. The slot is provided with a cover for when no ipod device is being used. NEW MACHINES It is possible to order an ACTIVE WTV version machine with the docking device pre-installed. These machines will be distinguished by a different value for the 7 th character of the machine code, which is already used to indicate the presence or absence of the TGS reader, and will therefore now have 4 possible values: N no device pre-installed on the machine. T machine with TGS reader. I machine with station. A machine with station TGS reader. For example, on a Run Excite the code might be: D447EII Run 700 with Active Wellness TV and pre-installed station. MACHINES ALREADY ON THE MARKET To install a docking station on a WTV machine already on the market, refer to the table below: page 1

4 Bike Excite ipod not detected by the machine When the machine fails to detect an ipod device inserted into its docking station, the problem may be due to an incorrect connection of cable 0WCU0167AB, leading from the external connectors board to the docking station board. In particular, because the cable in question has identical connectors on either end, it can sometimes be connected the wrong way round, causing the device to fail to function. Currently, to avoid inverting the cable, a marker is used to identify the end that plugs into the connector board. Problem displaying ipod video Occasionally, on machines equipped with station, it can happen that music or video cannot be played back. More specifically, although the machine does detect the ipod, the various menus remain completely empty. This problem is caused by a defect in the electronics board of the docking station, and can be corrected only by replacing this board. The new circuit board has order code 0WQ00371AB and replaces the preceding version 0WQ00371AA. The two versions can be distinguished by looking at the version number on the sticker: V: 3.0 for the old model (0WQ00371AA) and V: 4.0 for the new one (0WQ00371AB), as shown in the figure below. OLD MODEL - 0WQ00371AA The two components are mechanically interchangeable. NEW MODEL - 0WQ00371AB New SW version for 700 WTV UB It is version number available in the 10 standard languages. The main modifications in this version are: Corrected the problem which allowed the training keys to be enabled using an empty TGS key, even when these had been disabled from the configuration menu. Modified handling of Touch Screen malfunction: on powering up the machine, if there is any extraneous material between the frame and touch screen that produces a continuous pressure, first of all the calibration procedure is launched, then if the continuous signal persists the message Remove fingers from screen, then press the 3 crosses that appear in sequence to calibrate is displayed, after which the calibration procedure is aborted, returning the machine to stand-by mode. If the pressure on the touch screen continues when the machine is in stand-by mode, the message Screen out of order. Check that it's clean between screen and frame and restart equipment is displayed. page 3

5 Bike Excite WHEN TO UPGRADE ALREADY INSTALLED MACHINES: in order to implement the above described functions. New SW version for 700 WTV UB ACTIVE WTV It is version number available in 11 different languages. The main modifications in this version are: Added a pop-up signaling the end of the training session on reaching the maximum duration programmed from the machine configuration menu. Defined a function for deleting previously tuned channels from the TV and Radio menus. Fixed the problem which prevented a TGS key training session from being ended on reaching the maximum duration programmed on the machine. Corrected the error which disabled the ipod control button, when the machine returned to stand-by mode at the end of a training session. The "ipod" button is now disabled only when the device is disconnected. Corrected the error which prevented correct display of video from the ipod if the machine was configured with a different television standard from that of the ipod. Now the television standard of the machine is automatically set to match that of the ipod when the device is connected, and reverts to the default setting as soon as the ipod is removed. Corrected the error which caused the TV switch off and on again in touch-screen mode, whenever a TGS key or ipod was inserted while touching the touch screen at the same time. Corrected the error which caused the machine to reset if the Zoom and Zoom - keys were pressed in rapid succession during the training session. WHEN TO UPGRADE ALREADY INSTALLED MACHINES: if any of the above problems are observed, in order to implement the new functions. page 4

OLD MODEL - 0WQ00371AA The two components are mechanically interchangeable. NEW MODEL - 0WQ00371AB Breakage of tread belt motor support In some cases, breakage of the motor support has been caused by the absence of the washers and spacers which should be fitted on the fixing screws. It is important, whenever the motor is removed and then reassembled on the machine, to check that all the washers are correctly repositioned as shown in the drawing below. page 3

15 Run Excite 2007/08 The order codes for the components indicated in the figure are given in the table below. Ref. New running deck With a view to continuous product improvement, the machines are now being equipped with a new running deck which differs from the preceding model in that the surface laminate of the deck is 8 cm narrower. The deck used until now did not cause any particular problems, so there is no need to replace it other than as part of routine maintenance. Because the two decks are fully interchangeable, the order code R AB remains unchanged. Frontek LCD inverter As reported in TN 09/2006, beginning about a year ago, Frontek LCD inverters are being used in place of the previous TDK model. Because these two components are not interchangeable, when replacing an inverter it is important to carefully check the machine configuration to determine whether it uses the old TDK or the new Frontek inverter, so as to order the correct replacement part. The two inverter models are shown in the table below: page 4

16 Run Excite 2007/08 TDK Inverter FRONTEK inverter 1. To replace a TDK inverter with the Frontek inverter, an order code has been created which includes all the components needed to assemble the new model in place of the old one. The order code of this kit is W AA. 2. To replace a Frontek inverter with another of the same type, it is possible to order the inverter by itself. The code for ordering only the inverter is 0WR00596AA. New SW version for 700 and 900 WTV UB It is version number available in the 10 standard languages. 26 Step Excite ipod not detected by the machine When the machine fails to detect an ipod device inserted into its docking station, the problem may be due to an incorrect connection of cable 0WCU0167AB, leading from the external connectors board to the docking station board. The new grey colour, in addition to being slightly lighter than the previous shade, also has a slightly textured surface finish. The cams with the new finish are fully interchangeable with the preceding versions. TE: whenever a cam is replaced on a machine, it is recommended to also replace the other ones to ensure uniformity of appearance. New adjustable bushing for Lat Machine, Upper Back, Low Row, Crunch Bench and Lower Back Bench The adjustable bushing used on the above machines, and shown in the figure below, has been modified. In particular, the two holes for fixing the bushing to the frame, which are not used on the Personal Selection line machines, have been eliminated. The code of the new adjustable bushing is W AA-GD or W AA-GG, depending on the machine configuration; it is completely interchangeable with the old model. P915 Crunch Bench: new backrest adjuster pin Because of the stresses to which the pin in question (shown in the figure below) is subjected, it is now put through a special treatment to increase its strength. The new pin, which has order code 0P000289AA, is completely interchangeable with the old one. The first production machine to incorporate this new solution has SN P page 1

35 Selection Line Loosening of counterweight assembly on Abdominal crunch and Lower Back The method of fixing the counterweight hub on the lever has been modified, because the preceding solution allowed the components to work loose over time. The new solution involves use of a clamp type hub which is fixed to the lever as shown in the figure below, and a new self-locking ring. S e l e c t i o n L i n e The new solution is interchangeable with the old one and the codes identifying the new components are given in the table below: Ref. Dropping of lever caps on Arm Curl & Arm Extension The end caps used on the Arm Curl and Arm Extension machine levers have been modified to prevent them from dropping off during the exercise. The new caps, which are completely interchangeable with the preceding model, have order code W AB-GD or W AB-GG, depending on the machine configuration. page 2

36 Selection Line Abdominal Crunch, Total Abdominal and Rotary Torso: upgrading of backrest lever and its spring A number of upgrade kits have been created for replacing the gas piston spring, originally installed on the above listed machines to support the backrest lever, with the new torsion spring solution. The kits contain all the components needed for upgrading the different machine configurations to the current solution for both spring and lever (which is dependent on the type of spring used). S e l e c t i o n L i n e To summarize and further clarify the correct use of the various codes given in previous issues of the Technical Newsletter, the following table details the purpose of each kit. CODE R AA-# (Abdominal Crunch) R AA-# (Total Abdominal) R AA-# (Rotary Torso) (TN Selection 2007/04) R AC-# (Abd. Crunch/Total Abd.) R AB-# (Rotary Torso) (TN 2006/09 Selection 2006/07) R AA (Abd. Crunch/Total Abd. /Rotary torso) (TN 2006/06 Selection 2006/04) WHAT IS IT FOR? When the backrest lever needs to be replaced on a machine that still has the "gas piston" solution, this code includes all the components for replacing the lever and upgrading the machine to the torsion spring solution, including the kit for keeping it in the raised position when not in use. (the gas piston solution is no longer available, and therefore the machine must be upgraded to the current "torsion spring" solution) When the gas piston needs to be replaced on a machine that still uses that solution, this code includes all the components for installing the "torsion spring" solution, complete with the kit for keeping it in the raised position when not in use. (the gas piston solution is no longer available and the machine must be upgraded to the current "torsion spring" solution) If the backrest lever on a machine with torsion spring solution does not stay up when not in use, this code includes all the components for tightening the spring so that it keeps the lever raised. page 3
