1 February 29, 2016 Reminder: Great Texas Warrant Roundup starts March 5 Representatives of law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 300 jurisdictions across Texas, including Lewisville, have announced combined efforts to hold the ninth annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning March 5. The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions. It is believed to be the largest joint operation of its kind, with arrests expected to continue for several days. Hundreds of thousands of notices were recently mailed statewide by participating entities. Anyone who believes they have an outstanding warrant is urged to contact the appropriate jurisdiction or jurisdictions to dispose of their cases voluntarily and avoid the inconvenience of arrest at home or work. Lewisville Municipal Court can be contacted at The court is located at 1197 W. Main Street and is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 6:30 p.m. Do not send another person to pay your fines. People are subject to arrest until their payment has been accepted by the court and properly posted. Checks are not accepted. Payments will be accepted in cash, money order, Master Card or Visa. Pay online at cityoflewisville.com. City receives positive marks in Resident Satisfaction Survey Results from an online survey found that 89 percent of residents are satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of life in Lewisville. The survey was conducted last July and August as a way to measure public perception of city services and overall quality of life. Nearly 1,500 responses were received in this survey, which was made up of 36 questions covering a wide variety of topics. Some of the notable findings include: 82.06% of respondents said they would encourage friends or relatives to move to Lewisville 75.38% of respondents felt satisfied with the level of City services they receive in return for city property taxes paid. Fire, Ambulance, Library, Water and Police services all received 85% approval or higher. The most-useful communication outlets were the city website - (91.25 percent), the Horizon e-newsletter (90.56 percent) and City s (87.98 percent). Residents find it easy to give feedback to the city (80.48%) and said the city is responsive to their input (73.28%). About two out of five respondents (39.43%) regularly interact with their neighbors, and only 8.51% reported not knowing their neighbors at all. The 2015 Uniform Crime Report shows the City s overall crime rate is at one of the lowest points since Part I crimes such as rape, robbery, and burglary were down 2.9% from Part II crimes, which are mostly crimes against property, were up 28% from 2014 due to a large number of fraud cases including embezzlement and impersonation. In 2015, response time for Priority I calls for service was about 6 minutes, an 18% improvement since the approval of the Crime Control & Prevention District sales tax was approved in Results from the full survey will be used by City leaders to pinpoint areas of success and improvement. They also serve as building blocks as the City moves forward into year two of implementing the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. While overall results are positive, there always is room for improvement. Another survey will be conducted later this year as a way to further measure the City s progress. BECOME INVOLVED WITH LPD WEEKLY STATISTICS Maintaining a safe community requires a partnership between police and residents. Volunteers are needed to help organize local crime watch groups. Residents wanting a more intense volunteer experience can attend the annual Citizen s Police Academy in the fall, and afterward are used in a variety of supporting roles.
