PRESIDENT S CORNER Roger Evans The Chase Oaks board of directors approved the 2017 HOA assessment and held the amount the same as last year. As you have noticed the City of Keller water rates have increased. Water is one of the largest expenses the HOA incurs. The board is putting several tools in place to cut our water usage with a goal of 10 to 15 percent. We always look at ways to save money; we are homeowners in Chase Oaks as well. Please keep in mind that solar panels are not allowed on roofs. Several housing additions nearby have homes with solar panels covering roofs. Any major change to the outside of your house must be approved by the architectural committee. This is to keep our neighborhood looking consistent. 2 LEANING MAILBOX? The subject of leaning mailboxes was discussed at the November Chase Oaks HOA Board Meeting and it was decided to give our residents an opportunity to get their mailboxes fixed before sending notices of infraction. We can probably negotiate a lower bid if we have a number of mailboxes to be replaced. If you wish to be included, please Ms. Diane Newberry at newburys1@verizon.net. If you know or can recommend a reputable contractor please let us know. Each homeowner assumes responsibility for payment for their individual mailbox. If you would like to nominate someone as Yard of the Month, Ms. Diane Newbury at SOCIAL COMMITTEE REPORT We had 96 people attend the Halloween Social and had good comments from many neighbors. Thank you to all that attended. Hope you had a good time. Please come join us for the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9, at the park. Watch for reminders on the marquee. (Sorry but we had to cancel the December 10 th Movie in the Park due to equipment problems. )

5 JUST A THOUGHT from the editor Like you, I received my annual greetings from Secure Association Management with a request to kindly remit my 2017 HOA dues: $172. At a recent HOA members meeting, I was very surprised to learn that Chase Oaks has the lowest HOA dues in this area. Well you get what you pay for. Maybe it s time to increase our HOA dues. Then we could afford professional, upscale, Southlake-worthy landscaping and holiday decorations. I understand some of our neighbors are unhappy with the landscaping and the holiday decorations at the entrance to Chase Oaks Until then, let s just thank the unpaid volunteers that devote many hours of free labor to keep our entrance looking nice. Our police contacts say that crimes seem to increase after neighborhoods mature ten or more years in age. Only by having your can we inform you in a timely manner of items that can have a direct bearing on your safety and the value of your home investment. Thanks for participating.
