2 about us Madison Student Media provides numerous avenues for you to reach the 24,000 students, faculty and staff of JMU. Several state and national organizations have recognized us for excellence in news coverage and advertising practices. OUR PUBLICATIONS The Breeze A weekly print newspaper that has been named one of the best in the state and nation. See page 4. Specialty Publications Each year, we produce several publications focusing on speciic aspects of college life or speciic events on campus. Examples include off-campus living, a football preview and graduation. See page 4. BreezeJMU.org A dynamic website featuring news, sports and opinion, and videos and other exclusive content. See page 6. The Final Draft Readers of our twice-weekly newsletter receive Breeze headlines directly in their inboxes. The newsletter features all the latest Breeze news and provides links to our website. See page 6. Port & Main A lifestyles magazine that covers food, fashion, entertainment, student issues and more, all from a student perspective. It is produced twice a year. See page 7. Madison 0 Each year, JMU welcomes more than 4,000 freshmen and transfers to campus, and this guide helps them with the transition. It is a guide to JMU for students and by students. See page 7. 2 WHY ADVERTISE WITH JMU STUDENT MEDIA? A Targeted Audience More than 2,000 students attend JMU, and these students make up 40 percent of Harrisonburg s population. When you include The Breeze in your media mix, you reach a large and highly desirable section of the city s consumers. And these students consistently tell us The Breeze is their number-one source for news about JMU and Harrisonburg. An Economic Powerhouse JMU students spend more than $30 million each year in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, according to a JMU study of JMU s economic impact. The same study showed that students spent $.2 million alone using their Flex card, a debit account tied to their student ID. An Expansive Network Studies show that student visitors pump $5 million a year into the local economy. Also in 206, the website was named Best of its Size by the Virginia Press Association. And in 203 and 204, The Breeze won National Pacemaker awards, some of the top awards in student media. # 3

Files submitted in other formats may be subject to design fees. Color ads must be in CMYK format, and images must be 200 DPI at actual print size. Ads submitted at the wrong size may be adjusted to it. We are not responsible for quality of artwork submitted with low DPI or at incorrect size. A Camera-Ready ad is one that is created to the correct size exactly as it will appear in the newspaper; meets all of The Breeze s technical requirements; and includes all support images, graphics and fonts needed to print. What is the preferred file format for ad submissions? PDF. The Breeze prefers that camera-ready ads be submitted as PDF iles with all fonts embedded. Artwork should be created in CMYK color or grayscale. Can I submit native files? Regular Issue Special Section Port & Main may How should I save my pictures? To ensure high-quality reproduction of photographs within ads, all photographs should be at minimum 200 dpi at the inal size they will appear in the newspaper. Photos must be CMYK or grayscale.
