13 Vector Basemaps Vector basemaps available on AGOL since 2016 Contain vector representations of data across a range of scales Leverages several Open Source projects - Tiles use the Mapbox vector tile spec - Based on Google protocol buffers - Styling conforms to the Mapbox GL style spec More aggressive overzoom - Indexed tiling scheme - Support for traditional tiling also exists

35 Wayback Imagery A digital archive of the World Imagery basemap Allows you to access 80 versions of imagery published over the last 5 years Available as tile layers you can add to your map

37 Localization Eight Esri Vector default gallery map styles Currently nine languages (including French!) Localized labels display primarily at small scales (eventually expanding to more feature classes/scales) Can use the web map or the tile layer

39 Localization Boundaries and disputed names can also be localized - Regional preferences for depicting disputed boundaries and/or names Alternatives are cooked into the tile set - User needs to expose them by modifying the filter codes for those features Requires editing of the tile layer JSON - Make a copy of tile layer in your ArcGIS.com account - Use Vector Basemap Reference PDF - Edit and update root.json style
