4 Beginner Basics Objective The main objective of this webinar is to introduce the basic skills required to create simple interactive flipcharts for beginners.

10 What is ActivInspire? ActivInspire is software by Promethean that allows teachers to bring lessons to life. ActivInspire uses rich and powerful activities that will get the attention of the students. ActivInspire provides real-time assessments and real-world experiences to be part of the learning environment.

11 How do you open ActivInspire? Desktop Icon Display while waiting for program Display when program is coming up

13 Calibrate ActivBoard Method 1 Use the ActivPen to hover close to the indicator light. There will be a beep. The ActivBoard will turn white. The following message appears: Click on surface to begin. Follow the instructions on the ActivBoard.

14 Follow the instructions on the ActivBoard. Calibrate ActivBoard Method 2 Click the ActivManager icon located on the computer system taskbar. Select Calibrate. When the calibration process begins, go back to the ActivBoard.

15 Open a New Flipchart Methods Method 1: File Method 2: Dashboard Click on File. Click on Create a new flipchart. Click on New Flipchart.

16 Open a New Flipchart Methods Method 3: Main Menu Click on Main Menu icon. Click on New Flipchart. Click on File.

19 ActivPen Using the Pen Click on the ActivPen icon. Write or draw using the pen. Change to colors Click on the pen. Pick a color from the Color Palette to change pen color. If the desired color is not on the palette, right-click on any of the colors and a larger palette will open. Click the color wheel for even more choices.

20 Change Pen Color on a Touch Promethean Board Click on the pen. Click on the color pen box. Click on the color from the color palette. If the color is not on the palette, right-click on any of the colors and a larger palette will open. Click the color wheel for even more choices

21 Changing Pen Thickness The pen thickness can be changed by choosing one of the pre-selected thickness circles or slide the Pen Width Selector to the desired size. This will also change the highlighter and the eraser thickness.

22 Eraser Click on the Eraser icon. Erases errors made when using the Pen or Highlighter.

23 Undo/Redo Click the Undo icon once or multiple times to undo mistakes. Click the Redo icon once or multiple times to redo mistakes.

24 Add Pages to Flipchart Preview Previous Page Click the Next Page, (right arrow), icon to add a page to the flipchart. Click the Previous Page, (left arrow), icon to preview a previous page of the flipchart.

25 Add Text Special Note When ActivInspire opens, the default profile (called At the Board ) does not show a text tool button. Switch profiles to make the button visible. Click the Profile button at the top of the main toolbar. Select the Authoring profile. Adding Text Click the T, icon to add text. Click anywhere on the ActivBoard. Begin typing. Click off the T to stop adding text.

27 Highlighter Click on the Highlighter icon. The highlighter is used to draw over text or images. Change the color of the highlighter by selecting a color from the Color Palette. The width of the highlighter can be changed by sliding the Pen Width Slider.

28 Fill Tool Using the Fill Tool Click on the Fill Icon. Uses Change background color. Select the color from the Color Palette. Click on the page or object to change the color. Change color of objects. Change color of text.

29 Page Browser View Browser Click View. Click Browsers to make sure your browser is showing. Resource Browser Helps you to quickly view, navigate and use the resources provided with ActivInspire to enrich your flipcharts. The Resource Library contains a huge range of games and activities, annotations, assessments, backgrounds, concept maps, images, shapes, sounds and other items too numerous to list.

30 Click on the Clear icon. Clear Tool

31 Backgrounds Background Color Click on the Fill Icon. Select the color from the Color Palette. Click on the page to change the color of the background.

32 Backgrounds Background Pictures Click on the Page Brower. Click on the + Backgrounds. Click on the Resource Browser. Click on the background and drag it to the flipchart with the pen.

33 Backgrounds Background Pictures Click on the Page Brower. Click on the Shared Backgrounds. Click on the Resource Browser. Click on the background and drag it to the flipchart with the pen.
