1 A Quick Start Guide for teachers: Working with Report cards in eteacher on MXWEB
2 Welcome to eteacher on mxweb! This guide is intended to introduce you to eteacher on mxweb and help you become familiar with the tools and options you now have available to you to help you complete your reports. eteacher on mxweb has many exciting advantages over other traditional report card management systems. Here are some of the exciting things that you can look forward to: 1. Work from anywhere! If you have access to the internet and a web browser, you have all you need to get working on your reports. Your student information, marks and comment libraries are available to you 24 hours a day from both work and at home. You no longer need to worry about moving files or keeping things on disk. Mxweb does it for you. 2. Collaborate! You are working as part of a network. Share your comment libraries with any staff member you like or borrow someone s existing comment library and save yourself some time. Work together with your school to produce a master comment library and everyone can have access to it. 3. Real time! View your student s term marks as they are entered in the system school wide to better determine how they are doing overall each term or semester. grade. 4. Flagging! Flag students and apply comments to them automatically according to 5. Preview! Call up a.pdf preview of your student s report card at any time to see exactly how the final report will look like on printing. 6. Line counter! You no longer have to guess how much room you have left to write your student comments. Mxweb does it all for you by providing a handy line counter that accurately displays the amount of room you have left in your subject's comment box. 7. Teachers can now see all their student data, but can only edit their own comments.

If you would like to get to work on your report cards, choose the Report Cards section from this menu. Note: If you would like to change how your name appears on your reports, use the Change Display Name option at the very top of eteacher s main menu.
6 eteacher: Report Card Editor When you first enter the Report Cards section of eteacher you will be presented with a list of your classes. Click on the name of the class you would like to begin working with from the selection presented on the left hand side of your screen. You will notice that a series of icons are now available along the top of your screen. At any time you can access your Comment Library, The Expectation Browser clicking on these icons will open up these tools in separate windows while letting you continue to work in your original report card editor window.
7 eteacher: Report Card Editor (continued) Once you ve selected your class, you will be presented with a list of your students in alphabetical order. Click on a student s name on the left hand side to open up the report card editor. This interface will change appropriately to the type of class you are currently working with. In the image above we are working with a homeroom class and have access to learning skills. At the bottom of the screen appears the comment box, you can used this box to type in comments for your student reports or apply comments to it from your comment library.
8 eteacher: Report Card Editor (continued) Pictured here is another example of this interface, this time we are looking at a mathematics class. Note that all the appropriate strands are displayed and marks can be selected from the drop down menu for each strand. The comment box appears within each class editor and contains a number of important tools listed along its left hand side. PDF PREVIEW call up and exact.pdf preview of your students final report card. ERASER Clear contents of comment box. SPELL CHECK - Run spell checker on your comment box contents. VIEW Expand the size of your comment box, giving yourself more room to work comfortably if you are using a smaller screen.

10 eteacher: Report Card Comments Similar to list view, report card comments can be seen at a glance for each of your classes. This view allows you to see all marks and comments for each student in your class. You may print these out at any time by using the print icon located at the top of the page.
11 eteacher: Student Comment View You may also generate a Student Comment view, this gives you the marks and comments assigned for a student in your class for all of their subjects. You can use this view to gain a sense of how they are progressing in the current term and use this information to produce appropriate comments for the report card.
12 eteacher: Comment Library Your comment library can be accessed at any time from within the eteacher report card editor. This will give you access to all of your private and shared libraries. Click the [+] sign beside each folder to reveal the subfolders or comments contained within. Your comments will be displayed according the levels they have been assigned. Clicking on a comment will send it down to the Preview box at the base of this window. Here you can make changes and tweak the comment to you liking before applying it. Click the following symbols to apply you comments: Will apply comments to all currently flagged students. Will apply comments to the currently selected student in the report card editor only. User the Insertion Mode pull down menu to change how the comment will be applied to the report card, either appending, replacing or inserting the comment as needed.

Use this to browse and view the entire current curriculum expectations for your area. Choose by Grade, Subject, Strand and Section until you find the expectations you need. You can use these as a reference while building your comment library or applying comments to report cards. Highlight the expectation you need with your mouse and copy / paste as needed into your comment fields or click on the expectation entry to move it into your comment box within the report card editor.

Comments can be organized within folders and arranged within a hierarchy. You can create folders within folders allowing you to organize your library by grade, class or strand. Comments and folders can also be cut and pasted allowing you to rearrange your library as you like. If you are a previous user of eteacher Desktop you can import your old eteacher comment library into the MXWEB system by using the Import Comment Library tool located at the top of Comment Builder screen.
