4 When using Smart View queries with Management Ledger Profitabiity appications, if the query contains a space in a dimension name, the query fais and an exception message is dispayed , Profitabiity Management Ledger appications do not dispay propery in Internet Exporer 11 on Soaris systems. For that patform, use Internet Exporer 10 or a supported version of Firefox Smart View queries in Standard Profitabiity and Management Ledger appications fai with vaidation errors when they reference dimension members containing & characters in the member name In some cases, Standard Profitabiity depoyments to Essbase fai when using the APS connection type. If this occurs, use the Embedded connection type ( Changing the Connection Type to Embedded Mode on page 5). Bug The Management Ledger Profitabiity sampe outine BKSML12 can be saved ony to a Unicode appication. If saved to an appication in non-unicode format, an error message indicates that a Fie Save error has occurred The HPM_EXP_CALC_SCRIPT does not seect a rows from HPM_CALC_SCRIPT. It omits rows that were created by the processmutipovcacscript web service API Reporting cube depoyment fais when a generic dimension is associated with a dynamic hierarchy type. An ASO cube cannot have attribute dimensions associated with dynamic generic dimensions. This issue occurs with Standard and Management Ledger appication types An Essbase timeout exception can occur during execution of a Point of View (POV) in parae mode with mutipe threads. Try running in seria mode instead For the processcacoptions web service API, at east one stage must be added to the ist of stages to be ceared. If you woud prefer to cear no stages, add the ast stage to the ist, since it typicay has no data at the time this operation woud be run When there are no dimension member aiases defined for any member in any dimension in any appication in the entire Profitabiity and Cost Management instance, Driver Seections/Exceptions and Assignments/Assignment Rue Seections secreens are not abe to dispay their data; the screen fickers and then the content disappears. The workaround is to create at east one member aias for at east one dimension in at east one appication in the Profitabiity and Cost Management instance. Tips and Troubeshooting Subtopics Dimension Member Naming ODBC Driver Recommendation Soving Issues with Profitabiity and Cost Management Connection Type Review the foowing information for best performance. 4

5 Dimension Member Naming It is advised to not use any of the system dimension member names for member names in any of the other dimensions or hierarchies. For exampe, DirectAocation or GeneaogyAocation are system members in the AocationType dimension and these names shoud not be used in any other dimensions in the mode. ODBC Driver Recommendation Detaied Profitabiity appications require a user-configured ODBC data source caed PROFITABILITY_DS in order to transfer data into the three Essbase reporting cubes that are now avaiabe for Detaied Profitabiity appications. See Creating the ODBC Data Source to Enabe Data Transfers in the Orace Hyperion Profitabiity and Cost Management Administrator's Guide for more information. Orace recommends using the DataWire ODBC driver from the Orace Data Access cient for configuring this data source. Soving Issues with Profitabiity and Cost Management Connection Type By defaut, Profitabiity and Cost Management uses "Embedded mode" to connect to Essbase. If you are using APS, the APS mode uses many TCP ports whie depoying the Essbase cubes. This situation may cause a network error which is dispayed in the Profitabiity and Cost Management og fie. Changing the Connection Type to Embedded Mode If you receive a network error when using the APS Connection Type, switch the Connection Type to embedded mode, and redepoy the cube. ä To set the Connection Type to Embedded mode: 1 In Profitabiity and Cost Management, from Task Areas, seect Manage Mode, and then Mode Summary. 2 On the Mode Summary screen, seect the Mode Leve Preference tab. 3 Under Essbase Connection Information, seect embedded from the Connection Type drop-down ist. 4 Cick the Save icon. Setting the JVMOption for Embedded Connection Type If you are experiencing difficuties using the embedded Connection Type mode in Profitabiity and Cost Management to connect to Orace Essbase (especiay in distributed configurations), you must set the environment variabe ESS_ES_HOME as a JVMOption for Orace Hyperion Profitabiity and Cost Management to point to any oca foder which contains two empty foders caed bin and data. 5

6 If APS is instaed on the system, set ESS_ES_HOME to the same vaue as the APS_HOME environment variabe. (APS_HOME shoud have the required foder structure.) If APS is not instaed, set ESS_ES_HOME to any foder which contains empty bin and data foders. Note: No changes are required if you are using the APS Connection Type mode. ä To set the JVMOption for the Embedded Connection Type: 1 Stop the Profitabiity and Cost Management server. 2 Edit the Windows registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Soutions \Profitabiity0\HyS9HyS9PftWeb. 3 Add a JVMOptionX (where X is the next integer, based on the existing number of JVMOptions). For exampe, if the current JVMOptionCount is set to decima 17, then add JVMOption18. 4 Set the string vaue for the new JVMOptionX to -DESS_ES_HOME=<foder-name>, where foder name is the name of the foder that contains the empty bin and data foders. 5 Increment the JVMOptionCount to the next integer. For exampe, if JVMOption18 is added, then set JVMOptionCount to decima Start the Profitabiity and Cost Management server. Setting for High Rate of Network Connections for Windows ä To improve the abiity of the Windows operating system to dea with a high rate of network connections: 1 From the Windows Registry, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters. 2 Add or modify the foowing registry entries: TcpTimedWaitDeay Set this to a ow vaue (for exampe, 30) for the sockets to be reeased quicky. This DWORD vaue ranges between MaxUserPort Set this to a high vaue (for exampe, 33000) to increase the tota number of sockets that can be connected to the port. This is a DWORD vaue. Caution! Before modifying these parameters, refer to the Microsoft Windows operating system documentation for more detais. 3 Reboot the system for the changes to take effect. Increasing Loca Port Range for Linux Caution! Orace recommends that ony a system administrator who is very famiiar with the system shoud make this change. The system administrator shoud consider a the effects on the Operating System before making this change. 6

7 ä To improve the abiity of the Linux server to dea with a high number of outgoing network connections, increase the oca port range: 1 From a Linux she, enter the foowing command to find the current range: Sampe Output: $ sysct net.ipv4.ip_oca_port_range Sampe Output: net.ipv4.ip_oca_port_range = Set the new oca range using one of the foowing commands: # echo > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_oca_port_range OR $ sudo sysct -w net.ipv4.ip_oca_port_range=" " Note: The avaiabe parameters are isted under /proc/sys/. This option is ony usefu for high bandwidth, busy Linux servers or arge scae grid servers. 3 To permanenty modify /proc fiesystem (the oca port range), edit the /etc/ sysct.conf fie to append the foowing: # increase system IP port imits net.ipv4.ip_oca_port_range = Modifying Defaut WebLogic Timeout Settings for Lifecyce Management If you are using Lifecyce Management to import arge modes, the import may take onger to process than the time specified in the defaut timeout settings on the Orace WebLogic Server (defect ). To work around this issue, you must reset the defaut timeout settings as described in the foowing procedure. ä To modify the defaut timeout for WebLogic Server: 1 Navigate to %Middeware_HOME%\user_projects\epmsystem1\httpConfig\ohs \config\ohs\ohs_component\mod_w_ohs.conf. 2 In the configuration fie, ocate the section LocationMatch/profitabiity: <LocationMatch /profitabiity> SetHander webogic-hander PathTrim / KeepAiveEnabed ON KeepAiveSecs 20 WLIOTimeoutSecs 3000 Idempotent OFF WebogicCuster servername:6756 <LocationMatch> 3 Add the foowing ines within the LocationMatch/profitabiity section: WLIOTimeoutSecs 3000 Idempotent OFF 4 Navigate to: 7

Timeout 3000 Note: The server timeout shown above is a suggested imit, and may be modified to suit the specific timeout settings provided in the documentation for your appication server.
