5 CONNECTIONS Connecting your modem/router Make sure that the modem/router is not connected to your computer before you start the instaation from the CD-ROM. 6 INSTALLATION FROM THE CD-ROM Make sure that the modem/router is not connected to your computer before you start the instaation from the CD-ROM. insert the CD-ROM into the reevant drive; the opposite screen appears: cick on Next to dispay a screen describing the precautions to be taken during the instaation. cick on Next; the opposite screen appears to et you seect the type of instaation (first instaation or instaation of an additiona computer). For a first instaation, we advise you to check «You want to insta your router modem for the first time» then cick on Next to continue the instaation. Instaation from the CD-ROM 4

7 The opposite screen appears when you cick on Next. This screen ets you seect the interface (Ethernet or USB) you want to use to connect your modem/router to your computer. The modem/router ony connects to one type of interface. Instaing your modem/router using different interfaces is detaied beow in the order they appear in the previous screeen (connection mode seection). 5 Instaation from the CD-ROM

8 Instaation on the Ethernet port You seected «Use the Ethernet cabe», cick on Next. Foow the instructions provided by the instaer screens by puging in the modem suppy, switching it on and connecting the ADSL ine and then connect the modem/router to your computer using the Ethernet cabe. Once you have made these connections, an Internet connection screen appears. You must enter your connection ID then your connection password. This information is provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Once you have entered the configuration parameters, a window appears isting the different steps in the instaation. Once a these steps are compete, an end of the instaation window appears teing you that your modem/router has been correcty instaed. You may now use your Internet access. Instaation from the CD-ROM 6

9 Instaation on the USB port You seected «Use the USB cabe», cick on Next. Foow the instructions provided by the instaer screens by puging in the modem suppy, switching it on and connecting the ADSL ine and then connect the modem/router to your computer using the USB cabe. 10 Instaation of an additiona computer Your modem/router is aready connected. insert the CD-ROM into the reevant drive. Continue the instaation up to the instaation seection window and seect «You want to insta an additiona computer», cick on Next to continue the instaation. The interface seection window opens. seect the interface you want to use to insta an additiona computer in the oca network (LAN) then cick on Next to continue the instaation. An interface seection window which is identica to the previous instaations appears. seect your choice of interface then continue the instaation as described earier. Given that the modem/router has aready been instaed once you do not need to pug it in or connect the ADSL ine. Instaation from the CD-ROM 8

12 Modem/routeur supervision This is dispayed permanenty in a box at the top right of each window in the HTTP configuration too. To access the configuration too: n open your browser then enter in the address bar: the foowing URL : or the foowing address : A «Login» window opens. enter admin in the «Username» fied, enter admin in the «Password» fied, You may now access your modem/router s HTTP configuration too. 14 The resut of the tests carried out by your modem/router s «DSL router» configuration too is dispayed in the «Diagnostics» window. These tests reate to the connections to the LAN, your DSL Service Provider and your Internet Service Provider (ISP). A hypertext ink (hep) enabes the user to access contextua hep. This hep provides expanations about the status of the connection (PASS green, DOWN orange and FAIL red) and provides the appropriate repair procedures. Connection status Status PASS DOWN FAIL Coour Green Orange Red Meaning Indicates that the test was carried out correcty Indicates that an interface (ETH, USB) was not detected. Indicates that a test faied or that a command cannot be aunched. If a test dispays a «FAIL» status, cick on «Hep» then the «Rerun Diagnostic Tests» button at the bottom of the «Hep» page to make sure that the test was suitabe. If the test sti dispays «FAIL», you must foow the repair procedure dispayed on this page. If you are having troube connecting to the Internet we recommend that you restart your modem/router or possiby return to the factory configuration using the procedures described beow. Restarting your modem/router IMPORTANT To restart your modem/router, cick on the «Reboot» button in the top right of your HTTP configuration too s wecome page. Returning to the factory configuration To return to the factory configuration: in the top eft of your HTTP configuration too s wecome page seect the Management heading then the Restore defaut sub-menu in the Settings menu. or press and hod for about 10 seconds on the button marked «REG» on the back of your modem/router. 15 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Environment The modem/router shoud be instaed and used inside a buiding. The room temperature shoud not exceed 45 C. The modem/router can be paced on a desktop or fixed verticay in its wa mounting. The modem/router shoud not be exposed to strong sunight or paced near a substantia source of heat. The modem/router shoud not be paced in an environment where it woud be subjected to considerabe steam condensation. The modem/router shoud not be exposed to spashes of water. The modem/router s casing shoud not be covered. The modem/router and its peripheras shoud not be used for outdoor transmissions. Power suppy source The modem/router s mains adaptor shoud not be covered. The modem/router comes with its own mains adaptor. It shoud not be used with another adaptor. This Cass II adaptor does not to be grounded (earthed). The connection to the eectrica network shoud compy with the indications given on the abe. Use a readiy accessibe mains outet ocated near the modem/router. The power suppy cord is 2 m ong. Arrange the power suppy cord in such a way as to avoid any accidenta power cut to the modem/router. The modem/router is designed to be connected to a GG- (ground-to-ground) or GN- (groundto-neutra) type power suppy network. The modem/router is not designed to be connected to to an independent neutra eectrica instaation. Protection against short-circuits and eaks between phase, neutra and earth shoud be provided by the buiding s eectrica instaation. The power suppy circuit for this equipment shoud be fitted with 16 A overcurrent protection and differentia protection. The modem/router shoud be connected to the mains via a readiy accessibe wa socket with a cutout device. Maintenance It is prohibited to open the casing. This must be done ony by quaified personne approved by your suppier. Do not use iquid or aeroso ceaning agents. 13 Safety instructions
