1 RURAL ROAD RAM Mobile App Quick Start Guide v3.0 1 RURAL ROAD RAM APP QUICK START GUIDE The following provides the setup instructions and basic user guidance for the Rural Road RAM mobile application. The mobile app allows field personnel to use the Rural Road RAM software application in the field to create sites and enter field observation data without cell service or an internet connection. Setup You need a tablet or phone device with Android, ios, or Windows operating system and: Desktop or laptop computer with Google Chrome Tablet or phone device with Android, ios, or Windows operating system: o Internet connection o Web browser (Safari, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox) o QR code reader app (e.g., QR Code Reader, QRReader, QR Code Reader and Scanner) STEP 1. LOG ON TO RURAL ROAD RAM 1. Using Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop computer, log on to Rural Road RAM ( using existing user name and password. STEP 2. SCAN QR CODE 1. Navigate to Field Observations page on desktop. 2. Using QR code reader on tablet or phone, scan the QR code on the left hand side of the page (Figure 1). Figure 1. QR Code on website. STEP 3. OPEN IN WEB BROWSER 1. Open the site in a web browser instead of in QR reader app. How to do this will depend on your device and QR reader app. (Figure 2 shows icon for an ios device using QRReader). 2. A Welcome Log In screen will appear. You may be asked the following questions: would like to user your current location. Answer OK. An update is available, reload now? 2. Click LOGIN. 3. All data associated with your account will be populated within the app. STEP 5. SAVE TO HOME SCREEN 1. From the web browser, save the site to your device home screen.

Tap highlighted icon to save to home screen. STEP 4. LOG ON TO APP 1. Enter your same user name and password in the welcome screen (Figure 3) 2. Click LOGIN. 3. All data associated with your account will be populated within the app. STEP 5. SAVE TO HOME SCREEN 1. From the web browser, save the site to your device home screen. How to do this will depend on your device and web browser. (Figure 3 shows icon for an ios device using Safari). By performing this step after logging in will ensure you do not have to log in each time you open the app from your home screen. www. 2ndnaturellc.com

Select the site type as Stream Crossing, Cross Drain, or Erosional Feature. Click Create an Observation. Proceed through field observations to calculate score and save data.

3 RURAL ROAD RAM Mobile App Quick Start Guide v3.0 3 App Navigation The following provides a brief reference to the main functionality of the app. Rural Road RAM App Navigation CREATE NEW SITE Create a new site at your current location. Enter a unique site name and click validate to ensure it is not a duplicate of an existing site. Select the site type as Stream Crossing, Cross Drain, or Erosional Feature. Click Create an Observation. Proceed through field observations to calculate score and save data. Site and observation data is not saved until the final calculated score is generated and saved. SELECT SITE FROM LIST Find an inventoried site from alphabetical list of all inventoried sites. Select site to open site page. Select Site Menu o Filter items field allows the user to type in letters or site name to quickly navigate to sites. o Line item indicate site name, sub type, last observation and distance from location. Tap site to view more information about the site (site score history, subwatershed, site notes) and to add an observation. Select Add Field Observation to enter field observation data and generate RAM scores. SELECT CLOSEST SITES Find inventoried sites within 1/4 mile from current location. Select closest sites to open page Tap top button Sites within ¼ mile (refresh) o Sites located within ¼ mile radius appears in list format o Filter items field allows the user to type in letters or site name to quickly navigate to sites. o Line item indicate site name, sub type, last observation and distance from location. 2NDNATURE, LLC ecosystem science + design

The map menu must have access to the internet in order to work appropriately. Instructions for offline maps using other map applications are listed in the Going into the field section below.

4 4 December 2016 Tap site to view more information about the site (site score history, subwatershed) and to add an observation. Refresh closest sites by tapping top button Sites within ¼ mile (refresh) as location changes VIEW MAP Find an inventoried site by locating it on a map. The map menu must have access to the internet in order to work appropriately. Instructions for offline maps using other map applications are listed in the Going into the field section below. Map Interface Small blue circle shows current location of device. White box with Level displays current map zoom level. Tap map to search for all sites within 1/4 miles of selected location (blue drop in). An orange circle will appear around the blue pin, highlighting ¼ mile radius search area. Click orange marker icon to display site name and current distance to site. Click Create Obs to open site page to learn more information about the site, and review previous assessment scores. o Select Add Field Observation to enter field observation data and generate RAM scores. CURRENT OBSERVATIONS Any data that has been entered via the app can be viewed, edited or deleted. On the main menu the number following Current Observations indicates the number of observations currently saved to the mobile device. Tap Current Observations to see specific field observations made. Click View to see a summary of the field observation data entered. Click Edit to return to any field observation Current Observations Menu data using the data form. o After editing information within a field observation, the user must calculate score and save observation to update the RAM score with the edits and save all changes. Click Delete to delete all field observation data for that site. o The column verify indicates data sync status as sent or not sent. Red Not Sent text means the data has not been saved to the cloud. Once the data has successfully sent, a green Obs Sent appears in the verify column. Sending www. 2ndnaturellc.com

5 RURAL ROAD RAM Mobile App Quick Start Guide v3.0 5 data to the server can only be done when connected to the internet or within cell service range If the data has been successfully synced to the database and you have verified it on delete data from your device to reduce the storage burden on your device. o Select Delete Obs Sent button in top right corner to remove all data that has been sent to server. SEND DATA TO SERVER When connected to the internet or within cell service range, any data added via the app can be synced to the main database. Sync Data Page Click Sync with Server to send site and observation data to the server. A complete list of records being synced will be shown beneath the button. While data is syncing a grey box will appear indicating that records are being sent. Once completed, a message will appear at the bottom of the the records Records sent successfully. Data can be synced to server as many times as desired. Repeat data sent to server will not be saved as duplicates. UPDATE APP The app will automatically search for updates when connected to the internet. The user can manually search for updates if desired or as instructed when receiving technical assistance. Click Check for updated files to manually update application. Status of update is provided beneath button. STATS PAGE This is device, web browser, and account information to help 2N provide technical assistance and customer support should technical difficulties arise when using the app. User name and login should appear at the top of the screen on the main menu. 6 6 December 2016 Troubleshooting CURRENT LOCATION IS NOT DISPLAYED Device Lat/Long Check to see if your device has satellite connectivity. Go to Main Menu and scroll to bottom. If lat/long for current position is not shown, your device cannot determine its GPS location and the blue dot will not show. MARKERS DO NOT APPEAR IN MAP Double tap map within the users mapped watershed. Mapped road sites outside of the watershed boundaries are not displayed on the mobile application. I CANNOT SYNC DATA TO THE DATABASE Please contact 2NDNATURE for assistance. There may be an issue with your data formats. Going into the Field 2NDNATURE values your use of the Rural Road RAM mobile app. As some of the pioneering users of the software, we anticipate that you may encounter some bugs and unexpected functionality. We appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to improve the app and the user guidance. The following provides our recommended best practices as you begin to use and get comfortable with the software. 1. While connected to the internet: a. Open mobile app on device, make sure you are logged in, and update app (UPDATE APP). b. Sync data with server (SEND DATA TO SERVER). 2. As backup, bring into the field: a. Map/list of sites that have already been inventoried. Include site type. b. Hard copy datasheet & pen(cil). c. For each site, record the site name, CE score, EE score, & RAM score. 3. In the field: a. If you notice a bug or poor functionality, take notes: i. Device type ii. Connected to wifi? y/n iii. Within cell range? y/n iv. What app page are you on? v. How did you navigate to this page? vi. What are you trying to do? vii. What isn t working? 4. Returning to the office: a. Sync data to server. b. On desktop or lap computer, log on to website using Google Chrome and verify: i. All newly created sites are inventoried (ASSESSMENT SITES). www. 2ndnaturellc.com

Please contact 2NDNATURE for assistance with correcting site names. ii. For each field observation, verify that the CE, EE and RAM scores are correct (SITE RAM SCORES).

For each newly created site, ensure the site is named appropriately and in the correct location (ASSESSMENT SITES). Site location can be edited within the website. Please contact 2NDNATURE for assistance with correcting site names. ii. For each field observation, verify that the CE, EE and RAM scores are correct (SITE RAM SCORES). Observation data can be edited as necessary within the website. d. Add bug records to the Google document feedback form, which can be accessed in the website banner under your log-in name (PROVIDE FEEDBACK). Offline Maps Rural Road RAM v3 native app does not support offline maps. When users will be performing RAM observations in the field with no wifi or cellular data we recommend using an external application that provide offline maps to assist with relocating previously existing sites. Below, we outline steps to using some of the several free offline map applications, maps with me and google maps. 1) Begin by downloading maps with me to your mobile device 2) Prepare an excel file with road site name and longitude and latitude for sites you plan to visit a. Note this information can be downloaded from Rural Road RAM website i. Navigate to banner on Rural Road RAM website. Select Downloads --> Click Download All My Data and select Sites tab to view site names with mapped longitude and latitude. 3) Navigate to google.com/mymaps and select create a new map on your computer (not mobile device) a. Assign a name to the maps b. Select import c. Drag and drop excel file into import window (KMZ or CSV files can be uploaded as well) d. Select columns that position place markers (latitude and longitude) e. Select columns identify titles (site name) f. Continue through prompted menu and sites will appear on the google map.
