Announcing IQ Central v1.10 Peek is pleased to announce the Version 1.10 release of the company s powerful central traffic management software package, IQ Central. The purpose of this release is to add several important new features to the software, including: Central Traffic Responsive operations, support for the latest features of the ATC-1000 traffic controller, Enhanced Status Map operations, Support for Windows 7 and Office 2007, and several other enhancements. The update also takes care of a number of issues that were identified in previous releases. Product... IQ Central Version... Version 1.10 Release Date...January 25, 2010 Product Requirements This release requires a Windows compatible computer, running Windows XP or Windows 7. For all of the reporting and export features to work, the system must also have Microsoft Office, either Version 2003 or Version 2007, installed and properly configured on the system. If running the system as an IQ Central network, each IQ Central server and workstation will need to meet these requirements. Important Note: IQ Central is not supported on Windows Vista. To connect with field hardware, communications channels to those devices will also need to be available. Devices capable of using the NTCIP protocol natively, such as the Peek ATC-1000, ATC-2000 and the ASTC family of controllers, can be connected to IQ Central directly via one of these communications channels. Other, non-ntcip compatible devices that will be connected to the software will need an additional piece of hardware; an IQ Connect translator unit, installed somewhere near (or in the case of Peek 3000E controllers, within) the device. 3 Installing IQ Central IQ Central Version 1.10 should not be installed without the guidance of a Peek Traffic customer support representative. The following procedures describe how to install the software on a new system (see below) or how to upgrade a previous version of IQ Central to Version (See Page 9) Installing IQ Central v1.10 on a New System Standalone Systems or the IQ Central Server 1. On each system where IQ Central will be installed, verify that the operating system is either Windows XP or Windows 7. (IQ Central Version 1.10 is not compatible with Vista.) 2. Verify that a properly licensed version of either Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 is installed on each system. All client machines and the server must be running the same version of Office. 3. If you are setting up a networked version of IQ Central, you will need to create an Admin account that has right across the Domain. This will be needed for IQ Central s server modules, later in this procedure, so record the name and password for later use. If you plan to install a single-computer IQ Central system, then you will simply need an Administrator level user account for that system. 4. Locate the license key for IQ Central. This code should have been provided along with the installation CD. If not, contact your Peek Traffic service representative in order to request a valid license key. 5. Log in to the computer using an account that has administrative rights to this computer. In particular, the account needs to be able to start and stop Windows Services. 6. Insert the IQ Central installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the workstation where you want to install the program. 7. If auto-run is not configured on this CD-ROM drive, open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the drive. Locate the Setup.exe installation program and double-click it. This will launch the installation program. Figure 1 IQ Central Installation menu 8. Choose the Install IQ Central button. Page 3 of 30

New Features The following features have been added in this release of IQ Central: Support for Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007 A new Central Traffic Responsive module Logging and reporting on detector volume and occupancy data A new IQ Central Server Manager for better management of an IQ Central network Alarm generation on unused detector inputs, intended to support cabinet UPS operation Enhanced Map Status operation for better scalability Support for the latest ATC-1000 features, including Traffic Responsive and Pretimed operation Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007 Support IQ Central Version 1.10 has been tested and verified to work under the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, and with the Office 2007 version of the Microsoft Office suite. This includes modifications to ensure that the IQ Central installer properly detects when the Office 2007 applications are installed on a system. (Case 5148) Central Traffic Responsive Module The biggest new feature in IQ Central Version 1.10 is the addition of the Central Traffic Responsive capability. IQ Central now has all of the tools necessary to configure, deploy and operate a traffic responsive system along multiple corridors within a traffic management region. The addition is implemented using several new modules and network services, including the Traffic Responsive module within IQ Central itself, that includes a Configuration window and a Monitoring window. Figure 16 Traffic Responsive Module Configuration window Page 17 of 30

Figure 17 Traffic Responsive Module Monitoring window Overview of Traffic Responsive Operations Traffic Responsive Operation is a tool that optimizes the flow of traffic along one artery by responding to traffic demand, day-to-day variation, unexpected incidents and trends over time. It uses the traffic sensors along the corridor as inputs, and sends changes to the individual intersections as pattern changes. The system tends to seek the best of three traffic optimization states for the corridor: Best inbound flow, Best outbound flow, or Balanced flow. Unlike Time-of-Day plans, the Traffic Responsive module in IQ Central provides predictable responses for unpredictable traffic conditions. Preconfigured patterns are used to adjust the offsets, splits, and cycle lengths at each intersection. This allows the central system to find the best set of plans along the corridor for: Normal daily traffic ebb and flow, including rush hour efficient responses to incidents handling special events dealing with delays based on weather conditions, or crisis management. The logging feature provides a record of conditions and responses that can be analyzed for opportunities for further refinement of traffic patterns and traffic responsive programming. The function of the Traffic Responsive Plan Selection module is to reduce congestion and move traffic more efficiently than conventional coordinated signal systems that rely on preset time-of-day plans. The Traffic Responsive module analyzes traffic characteristics using detector inputs, and then responds by selecting the predefined pattern that is programmed to optimize signal timing for the current flow of traffic. Data is polled at preset intervals, from selected system detectors, at strategic locations in the network. IQ Central software analyzes the information and applies smoothing, scaling, and weighting factors to the aggregated data. The calculated values are continuously compared against user-defined thresholds to determine if action is required. When the calculated values exceed the corresponding thresholds, IQ Central selects a pattern designed to adjust signal timings based on current volumes, from a stored library of preconfigured traffic patterns. Page 18 of 30

Your library may contain plans for a variety of scenarios, including planned events (e.g., construction, football game, etc.), adaptive holiday control, extreme weather, high or low volume conditions, or a complex preplanned response to an incident. The status of the pattern being run is monitored using Traffic Responsive s live performance monitor and polled detector data. Start IQ Central TR calculates data and compares to thresholds Action Required? Enough time elapsed since last pattern change? Yes Implement different pattern if next pattern selected No Hold this pattern in Next Pattern Buffer Pattern selected from Library New pattern selected? No Yes Return Figure 18 Traffic Responsive Plan Selection Supported Traffic Controllers At the time of this release (IQ Central version 1.10), the Traffic Responsive module of IQ Central is compatible with the Peek ATC family of controllers, including: Peek ATC CBD Controllers Peek ATC 1000/2000 Controllers In order to function, the module needs a group of controllers composed of only one or the other of these two controller types. If any unsupported controller is in the group, or if you mix CBD controllers in the same group with ATC-1000 or ATC-2000 controllers, the group will not be available for traffic responsive operation. Devices and Device Groups To enable retrieval of data from a traffic controller in IQ Central, devices must be configured and set up with a valid communications channel (a connection in IQ Central terminology.) Currently, IQ Central allows only one Traffic Responsive Plan to be defined per device group. Although device groups are made up of only the devices being commanded as a single set of intersections, the system detectors are not required to be associated with a device in the group. Traffic Responsive Plan Types There are two types of Traffic Responsive Plan types in IQ Central: Simple Threshold This type of responsive plan uses a single set of inputs (occupancy or percent saturation) and a single set of output thresholds. This can be set with occupancy data input and a single output threshold set high (85% or higher) to achieve a simple occupancy override type traffic management. This acts as a pressure release valve to trigger a flush plan. Arterial Balancing This type of responsive plan allows the user to manage an arterial roadway with distinct directional flows at different times. This methodology involves two input groups, each Page 19 of 30

representing a direction on the roadway, and three sets of Output Threshold / Patterns; for inbound, outbound and bi-directional balanced flows. Finally, the user will configure the ratio between pattern selections that give priority to one direction over the other, or provide a more balanced solution. Modes of Operation A traffic responsive plan can be operated in one of three modes. Under Construction This mode is the default. The traffic responsive server will not load or run any channels in this mode. This is intended for times when you are first programming and setting up channels, or making changes to an existing channel. Testing In this mode, the traffic responsive server will load and run the channel, but the pattern commands are not sent to the street. This tool allows the user to evaluate the effectiveness of the operation before going live. Live This is the full run time mode. All pattern decisions will be sent to the traffic controllers in the street. Accessing the Traffic Responsive Screens in IQ Central To open the Traffic Responsive module within IQ Central, go to the Devices menu and open the Intersections sub-menu, then click on Traffic Responsive. Figure 19 Accessing the Traffic Responsive Configuration/Monitoring window This will give access to both the Configuration and Monitoring interfaces of the Traffic Responsive module. Page 20 of 30

IQ Central Traffic Responsive Window Interface The IQ Central Traffic Responsive module is a mechanism for adding, editing, and implementing Traffic Responsive Plans. The Traffic Responsive Window, the main interface for the Traffic Responsive module, provides a single window interface that allows the user to manage multiple Traffic Responsive groups, plans, and patterns, as well as configure inputs, outputs, and thresholds. Selectable lists of currently configured Traffic Responsive Groups and associated Traffic Responsive Plans Editable User - Defined Traffic Responsive Plan Name, Plan Type, Priority, and Run Mode Computational Channel Inputs Add and Edit Traffic Input Data and Edit Labels Set ratio between the two input value influences Add and Edit Traffic Output Patterns Figure 20 Arterial Balancing Traffic Responsive Plan Interface Traffic Responsive Group This is a group of like devices that are grouped together to increase effectiveness. Command Interval This setting communicates how often the commanding patterns will be transmitted to the field traffic controllers. Entry is in minutes and seconds. Command Duration This setting indicates the minimum amount of time that the Commanding Pattern will be sent to the field traffic Controllers before any change of pattern. Enter time value as minutes: seconds [mm:ss]. Traffic Responsive Plan A list of traffic responsive plans. Display updates with user-defined Plan Name, Priority, and Mode of Operation in which the plan is running. Add/Delete Plan Buttons Add a Traffic Responsive Plan to the Group, or Delete the selected Traffic Responsive Channel from the group. Plan Name Enter a user-defined name for the selected plan (max 63 characters) Priority The priority that the Traffic Responsive Server will give to this channel over the other channels. One (1) being the highest. Plan Type Indicates whether the plan type is Simple Threshold or an Arterial Balancing plan. Page 21 of 30

Plan Run Mode this setting determines how the Traffic Responsive Server will handle this channel. Selecting Under Construction will cause the server to ignore this channel. In 'Testing', server will process this channel, but will not command the output pattern to the controllers. In 'Live' mode, the server processes the channel and commands the output pattern. Computational Channel Inputs List of traffic input monitors (detectors) for inbound and outbound traffic. Labels are editable (max. 20 characters). Plan Ratio Bar Represents the ration between inbound and outbound computational channel data. Used to select which set of output thresholds and patterns will be used. Traffic Inbound Patterns List of Traffic Inbound Patterns that will be commanded when the inbound computational channel data is dominant. Add / Edit buttons are used to modify the list. Balanced Output Pattern List of Traffic Output Patterns that will be commanded when the inbound and outbound computational channel data are similar. Traffic Outbound Patterns List of Traffic Output Patterns that will be commanded when the outbound computational channel data is dominant. Add / Edit buttons are used to modify the list. Types of Traffic Responsive Plans There are two types of Traffic Responsive Plans in IQ Central s Traffic Responsive Plan Selection module; Simple Threshold and Arterial Balancing, but effectively they are just Simple and Complex. The user interface provides a mechanism for input of required fields for whichever type of plan is selected. The interface is modal, meaning that the appearance of the interface changes, depending on the type of plan selected. The two types of plans are described in the following sections. Simple Threshold Plan This type of traffic responsive plan uses a single set of inputs (occupancy or percent saturation) and a single set of output thresholds. This can be set with occupancy data input and a single output threshold set high (85% or higher) to achieve a simple occupancy override type traffic management. This basically acts as a pressure release valve to trigger a flush plan. The configuration window, shown below in Figure 21, is divided into three main regions. Selectable lists of currently configured Traffic Responsive Groups and associated Traffic Responsive Plans Editable User - Defined Traffic Responsive Plan Name, Plan Type, Priority, and Run Mode Add and Edit Traffic Inputs and Output Patterns Figure 21 Simple Threshold Traffic Responsive Plan Interface The Simple Threshold Plan Interface is divided into three main areas. The top section of the window includes a list of all of the currently configured Groups in IQ Central, fields to set the command interval and duration, and buttons that allow the addition and deletion of plans. Below that, are the user-defined Plan Name, Page 22 of 30

Priority, Plan Type, and Mode of Operation fields. In the next section, the user can add and edit Traffic Input Monitors, and Traffic output patterns. Arterial Balancing Plan This type of traffic responsive plan allows the user to manage an arterial roadway with distinct directional flows at different times. This methodology involves two input groups, each representing a direction on the roadway (inbound and outbound), and three sets of Output Threshold / Patterns; for inbound, outbound and bi-directional balanced flows. Finally, the user will configure the ratio between pattern selections that give priority to one direction over the other, or provide a more balanced solution. The Arterial Balancing Plan Interface is divided into five main regions. The top of the window includes a list of all of the currently configured Groups in IQ Central, fields to set the command interval and duration, and buttons that allow the addition and deletion of plans. Below that, are the user-defined Plan Name, Priority, Plan Type, and Mode of Operation fields. In the next section, the user can add and edit Traffic Input Monitors, and add user-defined labels, and adjust the ratio of inbound, outbound, and balanced flow. The lower part of the screen displays the selected Traffic output patterns and the functionality to add and edit plans. More Information about Traffic Responsive Operation Complete details about configuring and working with IQ Central s Traffic Responsive module are included in the IQ Central operating manual. An update to the IQ Central help system will also be available in the near future and will cover traffic responsive operation as well. (Cases 4710, 4872, 4873, 4874, 4878, 4881, 4884) Logging Detector Volume and Occupancy Another benefit of the Traffic Responsive improvements to IQ Central is that large amounts of detector volume and occupancy data is now being gathered and utilized by the software, and IQ Central can now be used to store this information in the database for future analysis. To enable logging of detector volume and occupancy, navigate to Tools Logging Options Volume and Occupancy Logging. Check the boxes to enable logging. Figure 22 Detector Volume and Occupancy Data Logging dialog box Note When you activate Volume and Occupancy Logging, the logging will not actually start occurring until the Traffic Responsive server (console or service) is restarted. To ensure there are no problems, we recommend restarting the entire IQ Central server when the logging setting is changed. (Cases 4882, 5017, 5251) Page 23 of 30

IQ Central Server Manager Now that IQ Central uses several server components to manage communications, alarm monitoring and traffic responsive data polling, Peek has created a dedicated IQ Central Server Manager application that is automatically installed an configured to run in the background on each IQ Central workstation. It can be accessed by clicking on the IQ Central icon displayed on the right side of the Windows Task Bar. The Server Manager is only available and visible on the IQ Central server. If you have a single PC IQ Central system (i.e. not a networked IQ Central system), the IQ Central Server Manager icon will appear in the toolbar. Figure 23 IQ Central Server Manager icon in the Windows Task Bar The Server Manager acts as a watchdog on the other IQ Central services. If a service halts or is detected to have stopped operating, the Server Manager will automatically restart it. It can also be used to monitor past activity of the other services. Hover over the icon to see a Tooltip window showing the restart history of the IQ Central services. Figure 24 IQ Central Server Manager showing Services status The Server Manager monitors these services in the foreground: The Alarm Polling server IQAlarmTray.exe The Traffic Responsive Polling server IQTRSPConsole.exe The Polling and Event Scheduler SchedulerConsole.exe Important The TRSP server and the Scheduler both open console windows on the Server machine. These windows should not be closed, because they actually host the traffic responsive and scheduler applications. The IQ Central Server Manager will simply restart them again, at any rate. The Server Manager also monitors a couple of services in the background: NTCIPServer For IQ Central traffic out to the NTCIP field hardware NTCIPDataManager Which manages communications between IQ Central and the central database If any of the above services are found to have halted for any reason, the Server Manager will automatically restart them. You can also see a window showing the status of the above servers by right-clicking the IQ Central Server Manager icon and choosing Status... Page 24 of 30

Shutting Down the Server One other important function performed by the IQ Central Server Manager is to manage the shut down of an IQ Central server. As we mentioned, if you shut down the console windows or processes of any of the IQ Central servers or services, the Server Manager will automatically restart them. That is what the module is designed to do. So in order to properly shut down the IQ Central server, right click on the Server Manager icon and choose Exit. This will close all of the servers and services mentioned above in an orderly fashion, as well as the IQ Central application itself, if it happens to be running on the server machine. Note Any IQ Central application that is open and running on a client workstation when the IQ Central server is shut down will remain open, but will quickly halt when the server connections are lost. See Known Issues on page 28. Alarm Generation on Unused Detector Inputs IQ Central has been modified to allow unused detector inputs on intersection controllers to be used for other functions, and to be monitored for alarm conditions. This enhancement was specifically created to allow status signal from cabinet UPS (Power Backup) systems to be monitored within IQ Central for controllers that do not have a dedicated UPS status connector. This function can be accessed from within the regular Alarm Monitoring and Configuration module. (Tools > Alarms > Configuration) One of these inputs can be configured by opening the Alarm Configuration module, selecting the device to which the input has been supplied, then choosing the alarm type to be BatteryBackupAlarm. Figure 25 Configuring a Battery Backup Alarm through a detector input Click on the down arrows in the Alarm Editing instance ( ) to enter the advanced editing window for the Alarm, then specify which bit on which detector group is the input to watch. You can watch for multiple inputs All to go together, or any of a group to indicate the problem ( Any ). And you can choose to generate an alarm either when the bit goes high ( Bits Active ) or low ( Bits Not Active ). (Case 5094) Enhanced Map Status Operation The way that individual device status is displayed on the IQ Central Map Viewer was dramatically revised in version The actual appearance of the viewer hasn t changed much, but the performance of the module has improved substantially. Previously, IQ Central presented status using simple graphical elements, however device elements such as signal colors, pedestrian signal status, and other status indicators are now displayed using logical elements. The outcome of this is that the Map Viewer can now handle a larger number of devices on screen at the same time without suffering any status update slow-downs. It also means that Map Status windows that are open on multiple IQ Central workstations are smart about how they handle their device polling requirements. If one workstation switches the zoom level of the Map Viewer, and it is showing overlapping devices shown in a Map Viewer on another workstation, the module is much more sophisticated in knowing what device data elements need to be polled and updated. The basic outcome of this effort has been to make the status viewer and IQ Central much more scalable and responsive. (Case 5095, 5207, 5208, 5279) Page 25 of 30

Updated ATC-1000 Support The Upload/Download module and other sections of IQ Central have been modified to add support for the latest features available on the ATC-1000 controller. These include the fields for the controller s Transit Signal Priority function (see Figure 26 below) and I/O Mapping (see Figure 27), among other new features. All of the data handling and upload and download functions of these new fields in the Upload/Download module are the same as with other controller data fields in IQ Central. These new fields in IQ Central simply allow all of the ATC-1000 features and data to be retrieved, stored, modified, and uploaded to field controllers. Figure 26 Transit Priority data group for an ATC-1000 in the Upload/Download module Figure 27 I/O Mapping data for an ATC-1000 in the Upload/Download module Page 26 of 30

Issues Fixed in this Release The following are issues that were discovered in previous releases of IQ Central that have been repaired in the Version 1.10 update. Table 3 Issues Repaired in IQ Central v1.10 Issue Workaround Case # Time-Sync was not working for Multisonics OSAM-32 masters When printing out the database of a Peek ATC controller programmed with Pretimed data, the Preemption Track and Clear columns for Channels 3 through 16 were showing incorrect data The label in the Map Viewer for a 3000E controller shown at zoom level 4 has the MCE cell labeled as Free OVR At some locations with multiple IQ Central workstations, it was reported that the v1.9 Pattern Monitor module would not open anywhere except on the server, reporting Failure on ConnectAndLoad. The Pattern Monitor module could not be stopped or closed while it was polling. Pattern Monitor was failling to launch after a Print Database operation had been requested. Time-Sync was setting an incorrect time on 3800EL Masters It was unclear in the Time-Sync module whether the central time or the device time was being used as the reference for the time delta Performing a group time sync request, members of the group that did not have polling configured would not sync their time, even though this should be independent of the polling settings for the device. Attempting to time sync Traconex controllers through a TMM-500 master, either individually or as a group, from the Map Viewer was failing. Attempting to poll a 3800EL master controller for short alarm status information was not showing alarms. IQ Central s Time Sync module and the OSAM-32 IQ Connect translator firmware were modified to allow time sync to function with the OSAM-32. This has been tested and verified to function correctly in the Version 1.10 update. DataBasePrinter module was modified to correctly handle a comma separated byte string stored in the ATC controller database. This has been corrected so the Pretimed Preemption data will print out correctly , 4655, 4656 The cell has been corrected to say MCE This was found to be an NHibernate configuration issue. The issue was corrected in the v1.10 IQ Central installation script and procedures. The polling mechanism was taking precedence over user interface functions. This has been corrected so that the Pattern Monitor will respond to close commands even when it is polling. The Print Database module was using up all of the available database client instances. Client instances to the database are now handled correctly by the Print Database module. This was a problem in communications between the IQ Central Time Sync module and the IQ Connect 3800EL firmware. This has been corrected with the update and with the v2.1 firmware update for the 3800EL translator. It does need to be noted, however, that the time sync gets buffered by the translator to occur on the master at the top of the minute since the message does not include seconds. The calculation for Delta has been changed. The reference is now from the standpoint of the field device. Thus, if the controller is ahead of the server, the delta reported in Time Sync says the device is "Ahead". Issues with the Get Time from All command have been corrected when doing group overrides. This was caused by a combined error between the IQ Central Time Sync commands and the Traconex TMM- 500 firmware for IQ Connect. With IQ Central at Version 1.10 and the newest IQ Connect firmware for the TMM- 500 installed (Rev 2.1), this problem has been corrected. This was fixed entirely in the IQ Connect firmware for the 3800EL Master. Refer to the version 2.1 release notes (p/n Rev 3) Page 27 of 30

Issue Workaround Case # Override pattern commands sent through 3800EL masters were resulting in the wrong pattern being displayed in the Current Pattern field. Out of Memory errors being reported in the Map Viewer module when many devices are visible on the map. Changes were made in both the IQ Central Override command and the 3800EL firmware for the IQ Connect translator. Overrides now function correctly for the 3800EL firmware, including both group overrides and individual overrides aimed at the 3800EL master. This was fixed as part of the Map Viewer enhancement described on page 25 of these release notes. 5093, Known Issues Remaining in this Release This product release does not address the following issues. If you encounter any of these problems, please use the workaround. We will resolve these issues at the earliest opportunity. Table 4 Known Issues remaining in IQ Central v1.10 Issue Workaround Case # The Traffic Responsive module does not automatically recognize changes to the configuration On rare occasions, after changing device configurations you may encounter messages related to COM faults. Copying polling configuration from one device to another may result in an error. Export of detector volume and occupancy data using new feature under Device menu > Intersections > Traffic Data Export generates an error IQ Central running on workstations must be shut down before anyone uses the Exit command on the IQ Central Server Manager running in the toolbar on the server. If the server manager is shut down first, this can cause disconnection errors on client workstations. Restart the Traffic Responsive module after changes are made. Close any client instances, Reboot the IQCentral server machine, then restart the clients as desired Use the Polling assistant instead The Export of the detector volume and occupancy data capability was unfinished at the time of the IQ Central v1.10 update release. If the data is needed outside of the IQ Central database, the way to access it now is to open a backup copy of the database using Microsoft Access and generate a report from the stored data. Note that this will require a Joined query to retrieve the device information as all detector data is tagged merely with the IQ Central internal Device ID. If the workstation clients will not restart after the IQ Central server systems have been relaunched, the IQ Central server and workstations must be shut down and restarted again to clear up the error in the Windows DCOM communications module. 4883, 4945, 4946 Page 28 of 30
