3 Luxtera 4x10G (40G) WDM Si Photonics October 2006 press announcement excerpts: Luxtera Inc., the world leader in CMOS photonics, today announced its new technology that multiplexes four 10Gbps wavelengths onto a single fiber, on a production CMOS die resulting in a single fiber 40Gbps link. This advance reduces cost for high bandwidth interconnect over traditional parallel fiber solutions and paves the technological way for next generation 100Gbps Ethernet data center connectivity. Luxtera is currently sampling prototypes to development partners and the company will launch a commercial transceiver product line based on this underlying technology in 2007 years ahead of the competition. 22 March

8 Intel Si Photonics Today February 2015 press announcement excerpts Intel has delayed shipment of a component module required for its silicon photonics technology, The original batch of modules, which was supposed to ship at the beginning of the year, failed to meet Intel specifications and quality requirements, Intel spokesman Mark Miller said. New modules are scheduled to ship at the end of this year, meaning silicon photonics cables for connecting servers won t be installed before Intel's Mark O Miller confirmed the quality issues, saying specifically that the first batch of modules didn't operate over the specified temperature range. Miller said we have found the root cause and fixes have been implemented 22 March

However many teams are working on productizing SiPIC WDM for the Datacenter: Aurrion Cisco Finisar IBM Intel Luxtera Mellanox (Kotura) Skorpios ST Others Difficult technical challenges can always be solved with focused long-term efforts Suggestion going forward: less promises, more deliveries 22 March
