10 Page 10 f 23 Netwrking ntes: A Mdbus netwrk and a RS-485 netwrk are physically identical but cannt be mixed due t the difference between the cmmunicatin prtcls. The internal cnfiguratin f the HC2 prbe determines which cmmunicatin prtcl (RO-ASCII r Mdbus) will be used by the cmbinatin f prbe and adapter. RO-ASCII is the factry default cmmunicatin prtcl fr the HC2 prbe and is autmatically used whenever the prbe is interrgated by the HW4 sftware. The prtcl used by the prbe when nt cmmunicating with HW4 can be changed between RO-ASCII and Mdbus with the HW4 sftware > Device Manager. After interrgating r cnfiguring the prbe with HW4, cycle pwer t the prbe t enable the selected prtcl. When cnnecting the prbe t a RS-485 netwrk be sure that the prbe is cnfigured t use the RO-ASCII prtcl. RS-485 Cmpatibility: the RO-ASCII prtcl is nt cmpatible with the prtcl used by the previus generatin f ROTRONIC prducts. D nt cnnect legacy prducts and the adapter / HC2 prbe cmbinatin t the same RS-485 multi-drp netwrk. Within a RS-485 netwrk, the cmbinatin f HC2 prbe and adapter is always seen as a slave. The RS- 485 address is that f the HC2 prbe. The factry default is address 0. The master is anther ROTRONIC device with an interface cmbinatin such as RS-485 and USB r RS-485 and TCP/IP. Please nte that each device cnnected t a RS-485 netwrk, including the master device, must have a unique address. As lng as the factry default address f the HC2 prbe (0) has nt been changed, the HW4 sftware will autmatically change the address f the prbe t the next available address at the time that the prbe is added as a slave t a RS-485 netwrk mnitred by HW4. The RS-485 address f the HC2 prbe can als be changed manually with the HW4 sftware Device Manager. Each adapter can be pwered either by an individual vltage surce r centrally pwered frm the netwrk with a single vltage surce. In the case f a netwrk that bth prvides pwer and transmits data, a shielded cable with tw twisted pairs is required fr the main bus. User t supply all necessary cnnecting hardware such as T-cnnectin bx, terminal bx, etc. Prir t using the adapter, we strngly recmmend cnsulting the fllwing dcuments: E-M-HW4v3-Main, E-M-HW4v3-F2-001 and E-M-AC3000-CP ;
