2 Purpose of Alabama SAF-T-Net Save Lives Prevent Injuries Protect Property. by providing advance alerts of potential threats to increase the amount and improve the timing of safety information available to Alabama s residents.. by enhancing severe weather information for EMAs.. by enhancing the exchange of information between Public Safety personnel and Alabama s residents to help make them aware of danger and to mitigate damage.

4 April 27, confirmed tornadoes across Alabama Alerting /Warning Recommendation from Governor Bentley s Tornado Recovery Action Council (TRAC) Report: Implement a statewide, integrated severeweather alert system that provides moreprecise alerts for individuals and businesses than current countywide warnings, allows individuals to enroll phone numbers, and takes advantage of smartphone technologies. Alabama SAF-T-Net fulfills the requirements specified in the TRAC Report
