10 Flw Table Each switch maintains a Flw Table 3 Flw tables cntain entries (flws) f the frm: <Header Fields Cunters Actins> Packets are matched against header fields Cunters are then updated based n the matching packet Actins are then applied t packets

11 Matching Matching Fields Ingress Prt Ethernet surce/destinatin address Ethernet type VLAN id/pririty IP surce/destinatin address IP prtcl/ts Transprt surce/destinatin prt Fields can be partially matched (e.g. IP subnets) r wild carded

12 Cunters If a packet matches a flw entry it can update the relevant cunters. Cunters can be maintained: Per table Per flw Per queue Cunters can track: Received packets Received bytes Duratin Transmitted Packets Transmit/Receive errrs Etc..
