1 Trinity ISD 2015 E-Rate RFP Frequently Asked Questions Trinity ISD is seeking bids for the following items as part of the E-Rate bidding process for E-Rate Funding Year This FAQ should answer most of your questions, but if you still need more information, please and CC Please remember that any questions answered will be added to a future FAQ. Local/Long Distance Telephone Services The district currently has 3 Campus Locations, with 4 Analog POTS Lines per Location (4th line for is FAX/DSL only). There is a Trixbox installation with 3 Digium FXS ports at each location, running on older hardware. We are satisfied with the performance of the current system, but we would like to use an Internet-based long distance service to reduce costs and to possibly reduce the number of POTS lines in use. Hosted Solutions that do not incorporate a local IP-PBX will not be acceptable. Internet Access Three Locations, with a dedicated (minimum of) 50MB, 30MB, and 20MB synchronous service per location, respectfully. Static IP addresses for up 16 devices ( subnet mask) per location. Data Distribution-Wired Location ID: LES Core Switch:* 10GB SFP+ x6 or more ports, 100/1000 BaseT x 20 or more ports, Location ID: TMS Core Switch:* 10GB SFP+ x6 or more ports, 100/1000 BaseT x 8 or more ports, Location ID: THS Core Switch:* 10GB SFP+ x8 or more ports, 100/1000 BaseT x 16 or more ports, *All core switches are of type Hewlett Packard 5400 series, or similar. Switches should include a lifetime warranty. Include all necessary software, licenses, trays and modules.

2 Data Distribution-Wireless Wireless Access Points/Arrays, and controller(s) coverage for each campus (please see Drawings below). The district is requesting a bid for replacing the wireless systems at all three campuses. Currently, a legacy Xirrus system, managed from a local virtual XMS server, is in place that was designed for broad coverage needs to be replaced by a system that allows for the density and speeds needed by of our 1-1 program. The district would like the outcome of this process to be a wireless network that fully covers each location with quality wireless connection at the fastest speeds, without over-saturating the wireless spectrum. Bids for one AP per classroom will not be considered. Each access point must be of commercial grade, 802.1x aware, ac compliant (wave 2 if available by time of installation), POE/POE+ compliant, dropped ceiling mountable. All required software or hardware licenses must be included for the maximum allowable time period, with optional extensions clearly detailed of any nonallowed time periods (e.g., years 4 and 5 of a software assurance agreement). The devices must be manageable from a local or cloud-based controller (real or virtual, Citrix XenServer-compatible virtual preferred). The required cabling and will need to be shown as a separate line item, as it will be open to bids on a per-drop basis. The cable must be of type Cat6 or better and of the proper type, as specified by applicable fire and building codes. All drops must have documented support for 1 Gb/s Ethernet connections. The winning bidder must perform a site survey to demonstrate that all instructional areas are adequately covered by the proposed AP layout. All classrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias and one wirelessly connected outdoor AP located at the football field, should be included. Unit must be sized for a student population of 700 each and capable of caching local and web-based videos, files, digital TV, etc for access by students and faculty at a later date. Must be capable of handling an Internet connection of 100mb or better and at least 2TB of expandable RAID V storage.

3 Drawings: The attached floorplan drawings depict the LES, and TMS/THS campuses. The dark blue dots on each drawing represent the current general location of our wireless access points. The map of the TMS/THS campus was originally intended to show the fire alarm system, but it outlines the floorplan layout of both campuses, with the TMS portions in color. The high school has brick/cinder block outer walls, with some inner, load-bearing walls constructed with cinder block, but most of the inner walls are sheetrock with high ceilings. The elementary campus has brick or cinder block outer walls, with bold lines representing cinder block inner walls.
