General nformaton about the FIBARO System FIBARO s a wreless smart home automaton system, based on the Z-Wave protocol. All of avalable devces can be controlled through a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet. Z-Wave devces are not only recevers, but can also repeat the sgnal, ncreasng the Z-Wave network s range. It gves advantage over tradtonal wreless systems that requre drect lnk between transmtter and recever, as a result the constructon of the buldng could affect network s range negatvely. Every Z-Wave network has ts unque dentfcaton number (home ID). Multple ndependent networks can exst n the buldng wthout nterferng. Transmsson securty of FIBARO System s comparable to wred systems. Z-Wave technology s the leadng soluton n smart home automaton. There s a wde range of Z-Wave devces that are mutually compatble, ndependently of manufacturer. It gves the system the ablty to evolve and expand over tme. For more nformaton vst:

3 3 #1: Descrpton and features FIBARO Wall Plug s a remotely controlled plug-n swtch wth the ablty to measure power and energy consumpton. It uses a LED frame to vsualze the current load and operatng mode wth color changng llumnaton. Our smart plug makes t possble to control electrcal devces n a convenent and mantenance-free way. It s also equpped wth a USB chargng port wth power meterng. Man features of FIBARO Wall Plug: Compatble wth any Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ Controller. Supports Z-Wave network Securty Modes: S0 wth AES-128 encrypton and S2 wth PRNG-based encrypton. Extremely easy nstallaton - smply plug the devce nto the mans socket. Equpped wth USB chargng port. Works as a Z-Wave sgnal repeater. Actve power and energy consumpton meterng for plugged devce and the USB port. Current value of the load and operatng mode are ndcated by the mult-color LED frame. Ths devce may be used wth all devces certfed wth Z-Wave Plus certfcate and should be compatble wth such devces produced by other manufacturers. Z-Wave Controller must support Z-Wave Securty Mode n order to fully utlze the product. FIBARO Wall Plug s a fully compatble Z-Wave PLUS devce. Descrpton and features

4 4 #2: Basc actvaton When powered, the devce wll ndcate Z-Wave status wth color of LED frame: Green - the devce s already added to the Z-Wave network. Red - the devce s not added to any Z-Wave network. 1. Plug the devce nto a socket nearby the man Z-Wave controller. 2. Set the man controller n (Securty/non-Securty Mode) add mode (see the controller s manual). 3. Quckly, trple clck the button located on the casng. Button 4. Wat for the devce to be added to the system. 5. Successful addng wll be confrmed by the controller. 6. Plug a devce you want to control nto the Wall Plug. 7. Test the devce by turnng t on and off usng the button. Basc actvaton

5 5 #3: Addng the devce Addng (Incluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to add the devce to exstng Z-Wave network. To add the devce to the Z-Wave network: 1. Plug the devce nto a socket nearby the man Z-Wave controller. 2. The LED frame wll glow red sgnalng not beng added (reset or remove the devce otherwse). 3. Set the man controller n (Securty/non-Securty Mode) add mode (see the controller s manual). 4. Quckly, trple clck the button located on the casng. Button In case of problems wth addng the devce, please reset the devce and repeat the addng procedure. 5. If you are addng n S2 authentcated mode, type n the devce pn code (underlned part of the publc key avalable on the devce or n the manual). 6. Wat for the addng process to end. 7. Successful addng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. Addng the devce

6 6 #4: Removng the devce Removng the Wall Plug from the Z-Wave network restores all the default parameters of the devce. Removng (Excluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to remove the devce from exstng Z-Wave network. To remove the devce from the Z-Wave network: 1. Plug the devce nto a socket nearby the man Z-Wave controller. 2. The LED frame wll glow green sgnalng beng added (removng s not necessary otherwse). 3. Set the man controller nto remove mode (see the controller s manual). 4. Quckly, trple clck the button located on the casng. Button 5. Wat for the removng process to end. 6. Successful removng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. Removng the devce

7 7 #5: Operatng the devce Controllng the Wall Plug usng the button: Wall Plug s equpped wth a button, whch allows to use the menu and addtonally perform the followng actons: 1x clck: turn controlled devce ON/OFF, confrm selected menu opton (f menu s actve) 3x clck: add/remove the devce to/from a Z-Wave network Hold: enter/navgate through the menu! CAUTION To avod rsk of electrcal shock, do not operate the devce wth wet or most hands. Vsual ndcatons: The Wall Plug s equpped wth a LED frame, sgnalng sensor s operatng modes and current actve power consumpton. In addton the vsual ndcator may nform of the Z-Wave network range. Vsual ndcator frame sgnalng modes: Actve power consumpton by default, when the devce s turned ON, the color wll vary dependng on the current power. Z-Wave network ncluson status once plugged nto a mans socket the devce sgnals t wth blnk (green - added, red - not added). Range of the Z-Wave network sgnaled wth color dependng on type of communcaton or the lack of t (only n range tester mode) Menu poston sgnaled wth color assgned to poston. Ongong software update sgnaled wth cyan blnkng. Hardware fault state error n communcaton wth rado chp, devce secured, plug the devce out and back nto the socket. Menu allows to perform Z-Wave network actons. In order to use the menu: 1. Press and hold the button. 2. Wat for the devce to ndcate desred poston wth a color: GREEN - erase energy consumpton memory VIOLET - Z-Wave network s range test YELLOW - devce reset 3. Release the button. 4. Clck the button to confrm selecton. Menu s preceded by two whte flashes of the LED frame 6 seconds after the button s pressed. Operatng the devce

8 8 Dsablng the LED frame ndcatons wll also affect alarm sgnalzaton. Dsablng vsual ndcator: Vsual ndcaton frame may be turned off for status sgnalng (turned ON/OFF, power consumpton). That means each status change wll be sgnaled by a short whte blnk of the frame. Dsablng t wll not change operaton of the devce. To dsable the LED frame: 1. Insert the Wall Plug n a socket. 2. Press and hold the button for about 3 seconds. 3. Release the button after LED frame starts pulsng whte. To restore vsual ndcatons perform above procedure agan. Controllng the Wall Plug wth FIBARO Home Center controller: The Wall Plug after successful addng s represented n the Home Center nterface wth two cons. Devce allows to turn on and off the devce and dsplays current actve power and cumulatve energy consumpton. USB port con dsplays current actve power and cumulatve energy consumpton Resettng the devce s not the recommended way of removng the devce from the Z-Wave network. Use reset procedure only f the prmary controller s mssng or noperable. Certan devce removal can be acheved by the procedure of removng descrbed n Addng the devce on page 5. Resettng the devce to factory defaults: Reset procedure allows to restore the devce back to ts factory settngs, whch means all nformaton about the Z-Wave controller and user confguraton wll be deleted. 1. Make sure the devce s powered. 2. Press and hold the button. 3. Wat for the LED frame to glow yellow (3rd menu poston). 4. Release the button. 5. Clck the button once to confrm selecton. 6. After few seconds the devce wll restart wth factory settngs, whch s sgnaled wth the red frame color. OPERATING THE DEVICE

9 9 #6: Power and energy consumpton The Wall Plug allows to montor the actve power and energy consumpton. Data s sent to the man Z-Wave controller, e.g. Home Center. Measurng s carred out by the most advanced mcro-controller technology, assurng maxmum accuracy and precson (+/- 1% for loads greater than 5W). Power and energy are reported accordng to parameters For loads under 5W power s reported for every 0.2W change. For USB port power s not reported for loads under 0.4W. Electrc actve power - power that energy recever s changng nto a work or a heat. The unt of actve power s Watt [W]. Electrc energy - energy consumed by a devce through a tme perod. Consumers of electrcty n households are blled by supplers on the bass of actve power used n gven unt of tme. Most commonly measured n klowatt-hour [kwh]. One klowatt-hour s equal to one klowatt of power consumed over perod of one hour, 1kWh = 1000Wh. Resettng consumpton memory: Wall Plug allows to erase stored consumpton data (turnng t off/on or removng t from the socket wll not erase consumpton): 1. Make sure the devce s powered. 2. Press and hold the button. 3. Release the button when the LED frame glows green (1st menu poston). 4. Press the button brefly. Power and energy consumpton

10 10 #7: Assocaton Assocaton ensures drect transfer of control commands between devces, s performed wthout partcpaton of the man controller. 2nd assocaton group commands are sent only n case of manual operaton through the button. 3rd assocaton group commands are sent automatcally, dependng on parameters 21 to 27. Assocaton (lnkng devces) - drect control of other devces wthn the Z-Wave system network e.g. Dmmer, Relay Swtch, Roller Shutter or scene (may be controlled only through a Z-Wave controller). The Wall Plug provdes the assocaton of three groups: 1st Assocaton Group Lfelne reports the devce status and allows for assgnng sngle devce only (man controller by default). 2nd Assocaton Group On/Off (Button) devces n ths group wll be swtched on or off when relay status s changed usng the button (uses Basc command class). 3rd Assocaton Group On/Off (Plug power) devces n ths group wll be swtched on or off dependng on the current load of plugged devce (uses Basc command class). The Wall Plug n 2nd and 3rd group allows to control up to 5 regular or multchannel devces per an assocaton group. LfeLne group s reserved solely for the controller and hence only 1 node can be assgned. To add an assocaton (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Clck the Settng Assocaton button. 4. Specfy to whch group and what devces are to be assocated. 5. Save the changes. 6. Wat for the confguraton process to end. Assocaton

11 11 #8: Z-Wave range test The Wall Plug has a bult n Z-Wave network man controller s range tester. Follow the below nstructons to test the man controller s range: 1. Press and hold the button. 2. Wat for the LED frame to glow volet (2nd menu poston). 3. Release the button. 4. Clck the button once to confrm selecton. 5. Vsual ndcator wll ndcate the Z-Wave network s range (range sgnalng modes descrbed below). 6. To ext Z-Wave range test, press the button brefly.! CAUTION To make Z-Wave range test possble, the devce must be added to the Z-Wave controller. Testng may stress the network, so t s recommended to perform the test only n specal cases. Z-Wave range tester sgnalng modes: Vsual ndcator pulsng green - the Wall Plug attempts to establsh a drect communcaton wth the man controller. If a drect communcaton attempt fals, the devce wll try to establsh a routed communcaton, through other modules, whch wll be sgnaled by vsual ndcator pulsng yellow. Vsual ndcator glowng green - the Wall Plug communcates wth the man controller drectly. Vsual ndcator pulsng yellow - the Wall Plug tres to establsh a routed communcaton wth the man controller through other modules (repeaters). Vsual ndcator glowng yellow - the Wall Plug communcates wth the man controller through the other modules. After 2 seconds the devce wll retry to establsh a drect communcaton wth the man controller, whch wll be sgnaled wth vsual ndcator pulsng green. Vsual ndcator pulsng volet - the Wall Plug does communcate at the maxmum dstance of the Z-Wave network. If connecton proves successful t wll be confrmed wth a yellow glow. It s not recommended to use the devce at the range lmt. Vsual ndcator glowng red - the Wall Plug s not able to connect to the man controller drectly or through another Z-Wave network devce (repeater). Communcaton mode of the Wall Plug may swtch between drect and one usng routng, especally f the devce s on the lmt of the drect range. Z-Wave range test

14 14 #10: Advanced parameters Enterng nvald value of parameter wll result n not settng the value and response wth Applcaton Rejected or Supervson CC frame and (dependng on the controller). The Wall Plug allows to customze ts operaton to user s needs. The settngs are avalable n the FIBARO nterface as smple optons that may be chosen by selectng the approprate box. In order to confgure the Wall Plug (usng the FIBARO Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Modfy values of chosen parameters. 4. Save the changes. GENERAL SETTINGS 2. Remember devce status before the power falure Ths parameter determnes how the Wall Plug wll react n the event of power supply falure (e.g. power outage or takng out from the electrcal outlet). After the power supply s back on, the Wall Plug can be restored to prevous state or reman swtched off. Avalable settngs: 0 - devce remans swtched off 1 - devce restores the state from before the power falure Default settng: 1 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 3. Overload safety swtch Ths functon allows to turn off the controlled devce n case of exceedng the defned power. Controlled devce can be turned back on va button or sendng a control frame. By default ths functon s nactve. Avalable settngs: 0 - functon nactve ( W, step 0.1W) - power threshold Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] POWER AND ENERGY MEASUREMENT The default values of the parameters sut most types of devces. They were selected to show n real tme the nstantaneous power values, whle not overloadng the Z-Wave network n the process. In specfc cases t may be necessary to modfy default settngs n order to optmze Z-Wave network s use. In extreme cases t s recommended to turn off reportng completely and confgure power pollng or perod- Advanced parameters

15 15 c reports n the Z-Wave controller. The Wall Plug reports the power load wth specfed frequency. Below confguraton parameters allow to specfy how frequently power load wll be reported. 11. Power reportng Ths parameter determnes the mnmum percentage change n actve power consumpton (n relaton to the prevously reported) that wll result n sendng new power report. Avalable settngs: 0 - power reports nactve power change n percent Default settng: 15 (15%) Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 12. Energy reportng threshold Ths parameter determnes the mnmum change n energy consumpton (n relaton to the prevously reported) that wll result n sendng a new report. Parameter 11 s not relevant for loads under 5W. In extreme cases, reports may be sent every second f rapd and sgnfcant load power changes occur. Frequent reportng may overload the Z-Wave network so these parameter s settngs should reflect sgnfcant changes n power load only. Avalable settngs: 0 - energy reports nactve (0.01-5kWh, step 0.01kWh) - threshold Default settng: 10 (0.1kWh) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 13. Perodc power reportng Ths parameter defnes tme perod between ndependent reports sent when changes n power load have not been recorded or f changes are nsgnfcant. By default reports are sent every hour. Avalable settngs: 0 - perodc reports nactve (n seconds) Default settng: 3600 (1h) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 14. Perodc energy reportng Ths parameter defnes tme perod between ndependent reports sent when changes n power load have not been recorded or f changes are nsgnfcant. Measurng energy consumed by the Wall Plug tself Ths parameter determnes whether power meterng should nclude the amount of power consumed by the Wall Plug tself. Depends on the actual measured power (accordng to parameters 21 and 22 settngs). Avalable settngs: 1 - general alarm 2 - smoke alarm 4 - CO alarm 8 - CO2 alarm 16 - hgh temperature alarm 32 - flood alarm Default settng: 63 (all) Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 31. Response to alarm frames Ths parameter defnes how the Wall Plug wll respond to alarms (devce s status change). In case of values 1 or 2 the Wall Plug s operatng normally and LED frame sgnals an alarm through tme defned n parameter 32 or untl the alarm s canceled. In case of values 5 to 50 the Wall Plug does not report status change, power changes, gnores BASIC SET command frames. After tme defned n parameter 32 or after the alarm cancellaton, connected devce s set to the prevous state. Avalable settngs: 0 - no reacton, 1 - turn connected devce on 2 - turn connected devce off 5-50 ( s, step 0.1s) - cyclcally change devce state wth set perod Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] Advanced parameters

18 18 The alarm may be canceled by pressng and holdng the button. 32. Alarm state duraton Ths parameter specfes the duraton of alarm state. If a devce sendng an alarm frame through the Z-Wave network sets alarm duraton as well, ths settngs are gnored. Avalable settngs: (n seconds) Default settng: 600 (10mn) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] COLOR SETTINGS 40. Power load for volet color Ths parameter determnes maxmum actve power value, whch when exceeded, causes the LED frame to flash volet. Functon s actve only when parameter 41 s set to 1 or 2. Avalable settngs: ( W, step 0.1W) Default settng: (1800W) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 41. LED frame color when controlled devce s on When set to 1 or 2, LED frame color wll change dependng on actve power and parameter 40. Other colors are set permanently and do not depend on power consumpton. Avalable settngs: 0 - llumnaton turned off completely 1 - color changes smoothly dependng on actve power 2 - color changes n steps dependng on actve power 3 - whte, 4 - red, 5 - green, 6 - blue, 7 - yellow 8 - cyan, 9 - magenta Default settng: 1 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 42. LED frame color when controlled devce s off Ths parameter defnes the llumnaton color after turnng off. 20 20 #11: Specfcatons Rado frequency of ndvdual devce must be same as your Z-Wave controller. Check nformaton on the box or consult your dealer f you are not sure.
