The Heat Controller contans lthum-on polymer battery pack, heed all followng warnngs: If an unusual odor or malfuncton s detected, avod sources of open flame and remove the devce from the radator. In the event of damage from crashes, etc., carefully remove to a safe place for at least a half hour to observe. Do not leave the devce unattended whle chargng. Do not attempt to replace the battery! General nformaton about the FIBARO System FIBARO s a wreless smart home automaton system, based on the Z-Wave protocol. All of avalable devces can be controlled through a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet. Z-Wave devces are not only recevers, but can also repeat the sgnal, ncreasng the Z-Wave network s range. It gves advantage over tradtonal wreless systems that requre drect lnk between transmtter and recever, as a result the constructon of the buldng could affect network s range negatvely. Every Z-Wave network has ts unque dentfcaton number (home ID). Multple ndependent networks can exst n the buldng wthout nterferng. Transmsson securty of FIBARO System s comparable to wred systems. Z-Wave technology s the leadng soluton n smart home automaton. There s a wde range of Z-Wave devces that are mutually compatble, ndependently of manufacturer. It gves the system the ablty to evolve and expand over tme. For more nformaton vst:

3 3 #1: Descrpton and features FIBARO Heat Controller s a remotely controlled thermostatc head to control temperature n your room. It measures the temperature and automatcally adjust the heat level. It can be mounted wthout tools on three types of thermostatc radator valves. You can create schedules va app to easly manage temperature throughout the week. Man features of FIBARO Heat Controller: to be nstalled on three types of valves: M30 x 1.5, Danfoss RTD-N and Danfoss RA-N, compatble wth any Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ Controller, supports Z-Wave network Securty Modes: S0 wth AES-128 encrypton and S2 wth PRNG-based encrypton, bult-n battery recharged through standard mcro-usb port, easy nstallaton - no tools requred, can use a dedcated temperature sensor - FGBRS-001, supports heatng schedules, automatc calbraton, ant-freeze functon, decalc functon, unconstraned rotaton sphercal knob to set desred temperature. FIBARO Heat Controller s a fully compatble Z-Wave PLUS devce. Ths devce may be used wth all devces certfed wth Z-Wave Plus certfcate and should be compatble wth such devces produced by other manufacturers. Z-Wave Controller must support Z-Wave Securty Mode n order to fully utlze the product. Descrpton and features

4 4 #2: Basc actvaton! Frst chargng may take up to 3 hours. CAUTION Install the devce n horzontal poston only! 1. Connect the charger to the mcro-usb port to charge the devce. If you have the temperature sensor: a. Use a con to open the battery cover by turnng t counter-clockwse. b. Remove the stcker underneath the battery. c. Use a con to close the battery cover by turnng t clockwse. 2. Dsconnect the charger when the LED rng pulses green (devce fully charged). 3. Dsmount your current thermostatc head. 4. Dependng on type of your thermostatc valve: M30 x 1.5 Proceed normally!! CAUTION If you use one of the adapters, double check that t s mounted properly. It should clck when puttng on the valve, hold tght after nstallng and not rotate! CAUTION Do not cover or vel the thermostatc head. Danfoss RTD-N Danfoss RA-N Use adapter: Use adapter: 5. Mount the devce on the valve and tghten t by turnng the cap clockwse. 6. Use the ncluded key to clck the button. 7. The LED rng wll start blnkng blue. If you have the temperature sensor: a. Clck the button on t now. b. The LED rng wll blnk green 5 tmes f the connecton was successful. Basc actvaton

5 5 #3: Addng to Z-Wave network Addng (Incluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to add the devce to exstng Z-Wave network. To add the devce to the Z-Wave network: 1. Make sure the devce s wthn the drect range of your Z-Wave controller. 2. Set the man controller n (securty/non-securty) add mode (see the controller s manual) 3. Use the ncluded key to quckly trple clck the button on the thermostatc head. 4. The LED rng wll start blnkng whte. 5. If you are addng n S2 authentcated mode, type n the devce pn code (underlned part of the publc key on the label). 6. Wat for the addng process to end. 7. Successful addng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller. Addng to Z-Wave network

6 6 #4: Removng the devce Removng the devce from the Z-Wave network restores all the default parameters of the devce. Removng (Excluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to remove the devce from exstng Z-Wave network. To remove the devce from the Z-Wave network: 1. Make sure the devce s wthn the drect range of your Z-Wave controller. 2. Set the man controller nto remove mode (see the controller s manual). 3. Use the ncluded key to quckly trple clck the button on the thermostatc head. 4. The LED rng wll start blnkng whte. 5. Wat for the removng process to end. 6. Successful removng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller. Removng the devce

7 7 #5: Controllng the temperature You can set temperature usng app (10-30 C) or drectly on the devce (16-24 C). Durng manual temperature change LED rng colour corresponds to the temperature set-pont. To check and change the temperature on the devce: 1. Brng your hand close to the sphere. 2. LED rng wll: Glow f temperature was set manually, Pulse slowly f devce s n schedule mode, Pulse quckly f devce s n overrde schedule mode. Wth colour dependng on set temperature: Z-Wave Mode Temperature [ C] Colour OFF Valve closed (ant-freeze) Whte 16 C or lower Blue 17 C Azure 18 C Cyan 19 C Sprng green HEAT 20 C Green 21 C Chartreuse 22 C Yellow 23 C Orange 24 C or hgher Red MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC Valve fully opened Magenta 3. Turn the sphere counter-clockwse to lower temperature or turn clockwse to rase the temperature. Lower temperature Rase temperature 4. Remove the hand from the sphere, after 5 seconds LED wll fade and new temperature wll be set. If devce s currently durng normal schedule, settng temperature manually wll set Overrde Schedule (see Overrde Schedule on page 18). Controllng the temperature

8 8 #6: Extra temperature sensor FGBRS-001 s the only compatble temperature sensor.! CAUTION Ths product s not a toy. Keep away from chldren and anmals! The devce can be used wth an addtonal, dedcated temperature sensor (FGBRS-001) to provde the best temperature regulaton. It can be placed anywhere n the room and the devce wll use t as a reference pont for the room temperature. Before usng, the sensor must be pared wth the thermostatc head. One thermostatc head can be pared wth only one sensor, but one sensor can be pared wth up to three thermostatc heads. To par the FGBRS-001 wth the devce: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see blue LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton, the LED rng wll start blnkng blue. 4. Wthn 1 mnute clck button on the sensor. 5. The LED rng on thermostatc head wll blnk to confrm the result: 5 tmes green sensor pared successfully, 5 tmes red sensor not pared. 6. Place the sensor n same room as head, no further than 5 meters from t. To remove all pared heads from the sensor s memory: 1. Press and hold the button on the sensor for 2 seconds. 2. The LED on the sensor wll blnk 3 tmes to confrm unparng. Extra temperature sensor

9 9 #7: Dsmountng the devce Before dsmountng, the devce must be put n Standby Mode to ensure safe removal. See chapter Standby Mode on page 13 for more nformaton. To dsmount the devce: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see cyan LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. 4. Turn the cap counter-clockwse and remove adapter f used. 5. Store the devce n temperature: -10 C to 25 C. Dsmountng the devce

10 10 #8: Menu Menu allows to perform mportant confguraton and mantenance actons. In order to use the menu: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see desred LED colour: Colour Blue Red Whte Green Magenta Cyan Yellow Acton par dedcated temperature sensor enable/dsable local control protecton perform head calbraton addng/removng to/from Z-Wave network Z-Wave network s range test put devce n Standby Mode factory reset 3. 11 11 #9: Local protecton After enablng the local protecton changng temperature drectly on the devce (by turnng t) wll not be possble. Enablng local protecton s recommended f you want to prevent accdental temperature change, e.g. by chldren. When attemptng to change temperature f local protecton s enabled: The devce wll not set new target temperature, The LED rng wll blnk red 3 tmes. To change the temperature use the app or dsable the local protecton. To enable/dsable local protecton usng the menu: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. Local protecton can also be enabled/dsabled usng Z-Wave protocol Command Class Protecton 2. Release the button when you see red LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. Local protecton

12 12 #10: Head calbraton Calbraton cannot be performed whle the devce s beng charged. Calbratng the devce to your radator valve s requred for proper controllng the temperature. Calbraton s performed: Automatcally, after 10 mnutes from turnng on f no operaton on the devce has been made (only at frst nstallaton), Automatcally, after 10 mnutes from last state change (only at frst nstallaton), Manually, usng the menu (see below), Manually, va applcaton. To perform calbraton usng the menu: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see whte LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. Head calbraton

13 13 #11: Standby Mode In Standby Mode the devce s n deep sleep state allowng safe dsmountng, transportng and low as possble battery consumpton. The devce s shpped n Standby Mode. Enterng the devce n Standby Mode wll not factory reset the devce nor wll result n loosng any data. To enter Standby Mode: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see cyan LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. To ext Standby Mode clck the button once, the devce wll enter frst nstallaton procedure. Standby Mode

14 14 #12: Factory reset Resettng the devce s not the recommended way of removng the devce from the Z-Wave network. Use the reset procedure only f the prmary controller s mssng or noperable. Reset procedure allows to restore the devce back to ts factory settngs, whch means all nformaton about the network and user confguraton wll be deleted. To perform factory reset: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see yellow LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. 4. After fnshng resettng the devce wll be put n Standby Mode. Clck the button to actvate t agan. Factory reset

15 15 #13: Z-Wave range test The devce has a bult n Z-Wave network man controller s range tester. To perform range test: 1. Use the ncluded key to press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when you see magenta LED colour. 3. Clck the button to confrm the selecton. 4. LED rng wll ndcate the Z-Wave network s range: Pulsng green - the devce attempts to establsh a drect communcaton wth the man controller. If a drect communcaton attempt fals, the devce wll try to establsh a routed communcaton, through other modules, whch wll be sgnaled by vsual ndcator pulsng yellow. Glowng green - the devce communcates wth the man controller drectly. Pulsng yellow - the devce tres to establsh a routed communcaton wth the man controller through other modules (repeaters). Glowng yellow - the devce communcates wth the man controller through the other modules. After 2 seconds the devce wll retry to establsh a drect communcaton wth the man controller, whch wll be sgnaled wth vsual ndcator pulsng green. Pulsng magenta - the devce does communcate at the maxmum dstance of the Z-Wave network. If connecton proves successful t wll be confrmed wth a yellow glow. It s not recommended to use the devce at the range lmt. Glowng red - the devce s not able to connect to the man controller drectly or through another Z-Wave network devce (repeater). 5. To ext Z-Wave range test, press the button brefly. Z-Wave range test

16 16 #14: Battery and chargng! CAUTION Make sure you are usng certfed charger Class II, marked whch comples wth parameters specfed n the manual.! CAUTION Do not leave the devce unattended whle chargng.! CAUTION Set the devce to OFF (whte) before chargng or dsmount the thermostatc head f not possble. Do not use cables longer than 3 meters for chargng the devce. The devce s equpped wth a rechargeable lthum-polymer battery pack that can be charged va mcro-usb port usng standard 5V charger (not ncluded). When battery s low the LED rng wll start to blnk red. The devce wll also report low battery status of tself and dedcated temperature sensor (f pared) to the controller. The devce does not operate the valve durng the chargng and mantans the last valve poston. To charge the battery: 1. Connect charger to the mcro-usb port. 2. Durng chargng the LED rng wll pulse red and valve control wll be dsabled. 3. When LED starts pulsng green, dsconnect the charger. 4. The devce wll restore ts prevous operaton. Battery and chargng

17 17 #15: Normal Schedules The devce allows to create multple heatng schedules to manage temperature n the room throughout the week. Schedules are created va controller nterface or app. Up to 253 normal schedules can be created. The lower the schedule ID number, the hgher the prorty. Schedules wth hgher prorty overrde those wth lower prorty n case of overlappng schedules. Schedules can be dsabled wthout deletng t. Schedules allow to set target temperature for HEAT mode (usng Thermostat Setpont CC) and one of operatng modes: HEAT, OFF or MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC (usng Thermostat Mode CC) Only SET commands are permtted. To create normal schedules user must specfy: Day of the week, Startng tme (hour and mnute), Duraton, Temperature Setpont for HEAT mode n range C (usng Thermostat Setpont CC) One of the operatng modes (usng Thermostat Mode CC):»» HEAT for settng temperature,»» OFF for valve fully closed,»» MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC for valve fully opened. Schedule CC Set command payload must not be greater than 22 bytes lmt or t would be rejected. Normal Schedules

18 18 #16: Overrde Schedule Overrde Schedule s a specal type schedule that has the hghest prorty; thus t overrdes other schedules. The Overrde Schedule starts rght after settng and lasts for specfed tme, then t s removed and current schedule or normal operaton s restored. To create Overrde Schedule user must specfy: Startng tme (START NOW), Duraton, Temperature Setpont for HEAT mode n range C (usng Thermostat Setpont CC) One of the operatng modes (usng Thermostat Mode CC):»» HEAT for settng temperature,»» OFF for valve fully closed,»» MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC for valve fully opened. Overrde Mode can be enabled n two ways: By turnng the knob, whle normal schedule s actve. The LED rng wll pulse wth selected adjustment. Va controller, by creatng schedule wth ID set 255, start tme set to NOW and duraton (n mnutes/hours/days). To ext Overrde Mode grab knob wth your hand for 5 seconds. Overrde Schedule

19 19 #17: Z-Wave specfcaton Endpont 1: Generc Devce Class: GENERIC_TYPE_THERMOSTAT Specfc Devce Class: SPECIFIC_TYPE_THERMOSTAT_GENERAL_V2 Descrpton: represents thermostatc head, allows to set temperature, schedules and check ts battery level. Endpont 2: Generc Devce Class: GENERIC_TYPE_SENSOR_MULTILEVEL Specfc Devce Class: SPECIFIC_TYPE_ROUTING_SENSOR_MULTILEVEL Descrpton: represents dedcated temperature sensor, allows to check temperature and ts battery level (f not pared reported temperature and battery level are always 0). Response to Basc Command Class: Value Acton 0 Set OFF mode (unfreeze functon) 99 Set HEAT mode (last set temperature) 255 Set MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC mode (valve fully opened) Assocaton Command Class: The devce supports only Lfelne assocaton group that reports the devce status and allows for assgnng sngle devce only (man controller by default). 23 23 #18: Advanced parameters The devce allows to customze ts operaton to user s needs. The settngs are avalable n the FIBARO nterface as smple optons that may be chosen by selectng the approprate box. In order to confgure the devce (usng the FIBARO Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Modfy values of chosen parameters. 4. Save the changes. Enterng nvald value of parameter wll result n not settng the value and response wth Applcaton Rejected or Supervson CC frame (dependng on the controller). GENERAL SETTINGS 1. Overrde Schedule duraton Ths parameter determnes duraton of Overrde Schedule after turnng the knob whle normal schedule s actve (set by Schedule CC). Avalable settngs: (n mnutes) Default settng: 240 (4h) Parameter sze: 4 [bytes] 2. Addtonal functons Ths parameter allows to enable dfferent addtonal functons of the devce. Avalable settngs: 1 (bt 0) - enable Open Wndow Detector 2 (bt 1) - enable fast Open Wndow Detector 4 (bt 2) - ncrease recever senstvty (shortens battery lfe) 8 (bt 3) - enabled LED ndcatons when controllng remotely 16 (bt 4) - protect from settng Full ON and Full OFF mode by turnng the knob manually Default settng: 1 Parameter sze: 4 [bytes] 3.
