2 2 S D M P OA C O M M I T T E E R E P O R T S Landscaping Committee - Kathie Samples I am sure you have all noticed the appearance of some of the Ficus hedges on and around our community. The Ficus whitefly infestation has made its way up to Palm Beach County and we have seen the results in a number of our Ficus hedges. We have consulted and employed a new pest control vendor who has experience in the treatment of whitefly and other pests and decided on the most practical and economical method of treatment. The first systemic treatment was applied in mid-july and we were told that it would take several weeks to take effect. The new company will now be treating on a regular cycle. These treatments are designed to prevent pests from taking up residence in our plantings and also fertilize the grass and plants to encourage healthy growth. We will wait to see how the hedges recover. Unfortunately the ones that do not come back will need to be replaced with plants that are less prone to whitefly and other pests. Our new vender has also informed us that he would be happy to spray inside any Homeowners fence for 50 cents per foot This would be at the homeowners expense and be billed separately. He would do this on the same day that he is spraying the rest of the community. If you are interested please call or drop me a note in our lock box at the pool and you will be put on the list. With the assistance of Eli Zakharia we have spent the last several months helping homeowners repair or replace their sprinkler systems so that we can make sure that our lawns and plants get adequate irrigation during the dry season. Please remember that our bi-laws require all homeowners to maintain a working sprinkler system and water all areas immediately bordering their property. If you are in need of assistance with your sprinkler system please call Sandra Dymbort at We are now in the process of planning the replanting of areas that could use sprucing up. If you have any suggestions, please bring them to our attention. In the meantime, we always welcome the efforts of individual homeowners who would like to re-landscape the front of their homes on their own and at their own expense. If you are planning to do this, you will need to submit a drawing and all information on your new landscape plan so that it can be approved by the Landscaping Committee. Parking Committee Jean Cruz As we all know that our streets have limited parking but please, if you have a choice, choose to not park by a homeowner's mailbox. According to the guidelines set forth by the United States Postal Service, our mail carrier does not have to deliver to a mailbox that cannot be accessed by normal traffic patterns. Our nice mailman may wave as he goes by skipping your mailbox because a car is parked too close to it. He is perfectly within his rights to drive by and skip service to that homeowner. Bet you haven't seen any of our mail carriers jump from the vehicle to place mail in the mailbox! Please make his job easier and show some consideration and remind visitors, family members, vendors and service employees that may be parked for an extended time near mailboxes. Appearance Committee Sandra Dymbort While we are on the subject of Mailboxes. Is yours covered with green mold and dirt? The appearance committee has noticed a lot of dirty mailboxes. You might have even gotten a reminder. Please go out and check yours and if it is a mess please clean it up. The easiest way to do this is to spray it with Clorox or even some chlorine that you use in your pool. It will only take a minute of your time and make a big improvement in our communities curb appeal.

We are still having a problem with some residents putting their trash out at the wrong times, and sometimes even in the wrong places! Please try and remember MONDAYS. garbage and recyclables THURSDAYS. garbage, brush and trimmings Items should not be placed outside your home until after 7PM on the evening prior to the scheduled pick-up. Your waste receptacles and bins should be placed in your garage or out of sight as soon as possible after pick-up. Please do not block your mailbox with items for pick-up as the mail carrier will most likely skip delivery. If you require a special pick-up due to the amount of debris, rubbish, etc., it is YOUR responsibility to call Solid Waste Authority at SWA-info or If you have called for a special pick-up and been advised that the service cannot be provided within 24 hours, you must move these items out of sight until closer to pick-up time. PICK UP YOUR PET POOP!!! It s the law PLEASE Carry a bag each time you walk your pet and take a minute to scoop the poop. It's the law and the right thing to do! It's disgusting, dangerous to water sources and just plain offensive to leave your dog's poop on someone property or our common areas. So if you are guilty of this please STOP! If you see someone not picking up Please tell them to stop. Our Children are heading back to school and will be out and about on our streets in the early mornings and late afternoons For your safety and that of our many residents, children and pets, Please Slow Down!!! There is a Posted 15 MPH speed limit in our community. How much barking is too much? All dogs bark sometimes but excessive barking is barking that is persistent and occurs for an extended period of time or on a repeated basis. We have had some complaints from homeowners about their neighbors dogs barking too much. PLEASE try and be considerate of your neighbors quiet enjoyment and PLEASE do not leave your pets outside in your yard when you are not home. Although we are all separated by a nice privacy fence, the last time I checked they were not soundproof Disaster Survey If you are new to our community, live alone, are disabled and in need of assistance and/or have not yet filled out a Disaster Preparedness form you can now go to our website at and click on the forms page. You can then download a copy, fill in your information and place the form in our drop box at the pool. This is not mandatory, but if you would like to submit it to us, we would be happy to do what we can to help you in an emergency.
