3 1 Intrductin This dcument describes the suite f test cases t be used fr the test rund R4S f the CAE Implementr Frum (CAE-IF). The CAE-IF is a wrkgrup in the CAx Implementr Frum (CAx-IF), a jint testing frum, rganized and facilitated by AFNeT, PDES, Inc., and the prstep ivip Assciatin. The test runds f the CAE-IF cncentrate primarily n testing the interperability and cmpliance f STEP prcessrs based n AP209ed2. The test runds in general cmbine testing f synthetic and prductin mdels. Prductin mdels will in mst cases be prvided by the member cmpanies f the rganizatins ANFeT, PDES, Inc., and prstep ivip Assciatin. When prductin mdels are nt available frm the member cmpanies, prductin-like mdels will be slicited frm the varius CAE-IF participants. This test suite includes synthetic mdels fr testing the fllwing capabilities: exprt /imprt Input FEA mdels fr 3D Linear Static Structural Finite Element Analysis using simple mdels. Mre cmplex mdels, including prductin mdels and dynamic analysis, will be intrduced later 1.1 Functinality tested in this rund The main bjective f the R4S test rund is t check the implementatin f the Structural FEA validatin prperties (mdel level) during an exchange using STEP AP209ed2 translatrs. It is jintly agreed with the CAE-IF users grup (namely EAS wrking grup) t exclude the mass related validatin prperties frm the R4S scpe. Sme extensins are defined t test the exchange f metadata such as mdel title and lad case id. The FEA validatin prperties are characteristic values f a finite element analysis and are assigned during the exprt prcess inside the STEP file with a specific frmat described in the crrespnding Recmmended Practices dcument. During the imprt prcess, the validatin prperties are read and cmpared with the re-calculated values frm the STEP file (see Figure 1). They shuld be used t validate the success f the exchange prcess. 4 1.2 General testing instructins fr this rund The general prcedures fr cmmunicatin f mdels and statistics are utlined in a separate dcument, named General Testing Instructins. The dcument can be retrieved frm the CAx Implementr Frum web sites. The latest versin is v1.13, dated Sept 29, Therefre, the native statistics and target statistics will be submitted t the CAESAR system accrding t the regular prcess described in the General Testing Instructins. Specific statistics will be used t check if the validatin prperties value included in the native STEP file are equal t the calculated values. When reprting statistics related t validatin prperties in the CAESAR system (see Figure 2) : The crrespnding native Val Prp. statistics value shuld be set t the value assigned in the STEP file if the validatin prperty is implemented in the STEP file, r na therwise; The crrespnding target Val Prp. statistics value shuld be the value read frm the STEP file. It will be cmpared t the crrespnding target statistics recalculated value. Figure 2: Statistics related t Validatin Prperties Key issues shuld be reprted using the BRUTUS system (see General Testing Instructins ). Native FEA Mdel use NASTRAN card descriptins. Dcumentatin f NASTRAN input syntax is available in the NASTRAN quick reference guide, which can be dwnlad frm the MSC hmepage at: Original FEA mdel f each test case is available in the xx.bdf file. Nte: CAE mdels are generally unit cnsistent mdels. This means there is n need fr data cnversin. Participants are requested t keep the riginal unit system unchanged and t deliver results and statistics using the same unit system as the native mdels. Nevertheless, the units definitin shall be included in the STEP file, as stated in the recmmended practices. The validatin prperties shall be assigned in the native STEP file as described in the Recmmended Practices fr Structural FEA validatin prperties (v0.6 r higher). CAx Implementr Frum 4

5 1.3 Testing Schedule The fllwing schedule has been agreed n fr Rund 4S: Figure 3: CAE-IF Rund4S Schedule The CAE-IF Rund 4S Technical Wrkshp will be held by cnfcall befre the PDES, Inc. Spring Offsite meeting and a LOTAR wrkshp. Therefre, a sessin will be dedicated t R4S during the Spring Offsite meeting t discuss any feedback. Cnference calls and web sessins will als be available fr thse nt attending the meeting t dial in. The CAE-IF Rund4S Review meeting will take place in cnjunctin with a LOTAR meeting. In additin, cnference calls and web sessins will be available. 1.4 Cpyrights n Test Cases CAE-IF Nne f the prductin test cases which were prvided by the AFNeT, PDES, Inc. and prstep ivip member cmpanies may be publicly released fr any purpse. The test cases can be freely distributed amng the CAE-IF members, and can be used fr any purpses that are related t CAE-IF testing (i.e. testing, dcumentatin f testing effrts, etc.), as lng as a reference t the riginating cmpany is made. The test cases must nt be used fr any purpses ther than CAE-IF testing r utside f ANFeT, PDES, Inc. and prstep ivip. Test cases prvided by the LOTAR prject fr testing f specific capabilities are applicable t the same restrictins and may nt be used utside LO- TAR r the CAE-IF. CAx Implementr Frum 5
