9 Notifications Notifications keep you up to date on information from your apps or news about your day. You can customize your notifications in Settings. They appear as badges, banners, or alerts on the screen and can include sounds. Notifications can be seen on the lock screen, at the top of the screen while using the device, and to see all at once by swiping down from the top edge of the screen. To close notifications swipe up.

10 New Features in ios 12 for Notifications Do Not Disturb: New choices for ending Do Not Disturb. See Control Center and Settings for options. Grouped Notifications: Notifications from same app or Messages thread are stacked by default. Tap to see individually. Clear all notifications from Notification Center on lock screen: Tap X next to Notification Center title. Quietly Deliver notifications options: Notification is sent to Notification Center without lock screen or sounds and badges. Tap Manage after moving L to R on Notification. Siri Suggestions: As Siri learns your routine you get suggestions for what you might need at the right time.

15 ios 12 Privacy Updates in Safari Strong & unique passwords are suggested automatically when creating an account or changing a password. Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Prevention: Prevents cookies from being read in a third party context. See Safari Preferences>Privacy. Tracker Collusion Protection: Prevents cookies from being dropped or read on a user s browser during tracking redirects.

17 More Privacy - Location Services (Not new in ios 12 but important to know) With your permission, Location Services allows apps and websites (including Maps, Camera, Weather, etc.) to use information from cellular, WiFi, GPS networks, and Bluetooth to determine your approximate location. If on, a black or white arrow icon appears in the status bar. You must give each app permission before they can access your location. You can reset Location Services in Settings/Privacy. Periodically your device will send locations to Apple for their crowd sourcing database. It is anonymous and encrypted. During emergency calls your iphone s location info may be used even if not enabled.

18 Keyboard New in ios 12 - Trackpad Mode for all devices. Tap and hold the Space bar until all keys blank out. Drag a finger to move the cursor to the insertion point. Devices with 3D Touch: Press the keyboard until the keys go blank. Drag to move cursor to insertion point. ipad Method 2: Place 2 fingers on keyboard until the keys go blank. Move Cursor. Press, hold, drag to select text. Optional method to place cursor: Place finger on screen, hold until magnifier appears with cursor. Move as needed. Select Text: Place finger on a word and hold. Choose Select or Select All from pop-up menu. Double tap on word and drag handles before and after to select more.

23 Voice Memos - Now on ipad Voice Memos saved in icloud. Available in Control Center. In Settings: Location and Quality Options Tap Record to start, Pause or Stop to stop, Play to hear. Scrub the playhead to find desired spot in recording. Slide R to L, tap More for editing/sharing options. Tap Crop icon to Trim and Delete.

25 More than one App on ipad Split Screen Open first app. (ipad Mini 4 and ipad Air 2 and later) Drag 2nd app up from Dock for a floating panel. Release and it floats. Drag selected content from one app to other app. To move photos select and drag. To move text first select it then touch and hold selected item until it lifts up. Drag to other app. To temporarily hide floating panel drag to the right. To see again drag back in from right. Drag down on handle of floating app for split screen view. Adjust size of each app in split screen with handle in the middle. To hide one or the other app drag to left or right. To go directly to split screen open first app. Drag second app all the way to the right To add 2nd app not in dock briefly open so it will appear in right side of dock
