1 8 th Grade Technology and Writing Fourth Quarter Syllabus By the end of the fourth quarter (May 24), you must have all of the following tasks/assignments completed and submitted: Prezi Due Dates: To help keep you on track with your Prezi, we will be submitting several assignments throughout the quarter: o DUE Friday, March 24: Topic Approval Form (15 Points Total) Prezi Exploration Tutorials Handout (38 Points Total) o DUE Friday, April 7: Source Selection and Citations Handout (25 Points Total) Copies of Sources (25 Points Total) o DUE Thursday, April 13: Quotation Selection Handout (25 Points Total) o DUE Friday, April 21: For these following assignments, simple have Mrs. Leis check the following Prezi components during class time: Design Check (10 Points Total) Title Slide Check (10 Points Total) Overview Check (10 Points Total) o DUE Friday, May 12: You must "share" your Prezi with Mrs. Leis (darcy.leis@cslocal.org). It is your responsibility to confirm with Mrs. Leis that she has received your Prezi.
2 Prezi Requirements: o On Prezi and working with one other person if you would like create a carefully researched Prezi (100 Points). The presentation must include o a title frame o an overview frame o a minimum of TEN frames overall o a minimum of FIVE animations o a minimum of TEN graphics (photograph, map, chart, infographic, etc.) o a minimum of TWO quotations taken from your research sources o a minimum of ONE video or other multimedia element o a sources page that includes information (titles, author, web address, etc.) for each of the sources you used when doing your research; you must use at least TWO sources o slide design that is effective, engaging, and professional without being distracting o logical path organization o SUBMIT by SHARING on OneDrive. DUE Friday, May 12 o Present your PowerPoint slideshow (50 Points). Classes that have time will be evaluated on the following skills: o Preparedness o Eye contact o Voice volume and pronunciation o Inclusion of additional information (not just reading exactly what's on the slide) o Ability to answer reasonable questions about your topic Associated Common Core Standards: Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.8.4 Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with relevant evidence, sound valid reasoning, and well-chosen details; use appropriate eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.8.5 Integrate multimedia and visual displays into presentations to clarify information, strengthen claims and evidence, and add interest. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.8.6 Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate.
