1 Fairfax Media Style Guide

2 Introduction This is a guide to assist in the rollout of the new Fairfax Media livery across its divisions. It is an exciting time as Fairfax Media leads media companies into the new age of convergence. Fairfax Media s vision is to connect communities, challenge ideas and enrich lives. We aim to be innovative, dynamic and visionary in what we do. We are leaders not followers. And as New Zealand s largest media company, we need to be unified to achieve this vision. Our new livery reflects these values. The globe of the Fairfax Media logo alludes to the international environment we connect with. It has a wide network that is globally influenced and influential. A globe has no end points, rather it is a continuous form. Evolving, changing and future focused. The blue is fresh and contemporary. It embraces the concept of new horizons, blue sky innovative thinking and the fact that we are a company of synergies. Each orbiting globe is a division, connected to the Fairfax Media globe, but also free to be an entire world itself. Each division is specialist and expert; self contained and able to express itself; and energetic. These guidelines will help to make this transition simple. They are merely a start of the resources that will be provided to you. They cover the key uses within stationary of the Fairfax Media logo and the division logo. Further guidelines will be provided for use of the logo in other communication and use of Fairfax Media in correspondence. 2

4 Fairfax Media Logo Guidelines The Fairfax Media logo is to be used for all corporate correspondence. There are 3 versions available: 4 Colour The preferred version and should be used as the first choice wherever possible. All elements need to remain in proportion as indicated. Please do not recreate. Use only supplied versions. Typeface and colours to be only as specified and provided. 4.5x x 8.25x Globe: 3D 4 colour image (do not recreate) Typeface: Stalemate Medium Media Colour Breakdown: 100k 24m 0y 64k Please ensure there is a clear space around the logo as indicated. There is to be no text, other logos or images within this specified area. Logo should only be used on a white background. 1.5x 2x x 2x 1.5x 4

5 Spot Colour To be used when only one colour is available for printing. Spot Colour: Pantone 3005C Black & White To be used when only printing mono. For any other requirements, please contact Fairfax Media Auckland, (09) to co-ordinate. 5

6 Size Logos should not be used smaller than 10mm in height. 10mm Typeface The typeface for the logo is StalemateLF. This typeface can be used on any communication. However to keep things simple, for letters, memos and faxes we have used Arial, as all computers have this preloaded. Please ensure that all correspondence uses Arial as per the templates. For general text the point size is 11. 6

7 Fairfax Media Division Stationary Guidelines The majority of your requirements will be for your division logo. All divisions have their own unique colour for sub branding purposes. These logos have been designed for your key usage area stationary. They have several design features: - The Fairfax Media logo - The division name - A dotted line which brings to life the stationary, adding further division branding and character. CORPORATE Pantone 548C 100c 24m 0y 64k INTERACTIVE Pantone 376C 50c 0m 100y 0k MAGAZINES Pantone 248C 40c 100m 0y 2k NETWORK Pantone 173C 0c 69m 100y 4k SUNDAYS Pantone306C 75c 0m 7y 0k This look and feel has been designed for use on business cards, letterhead, memorandums, facsimiles and with compliments slips. For all other tailored requirements, we have created standalone logos that remove the dotted line for ease of use. Please refer to the Fairfax Media Division Standalone Logo Guidelines section of each of the Division Style Guides for further informaton. Usage of Fairfax Media Corporate logo for stationary To make things simple, we ve just included the information on your division. If you require information on other division logos, please contact Fairfax Media Auckland, (09) All stationary is to be reproduced as per these guidelines. 7

8 Business Cards The artwork has been set up so each division can simply manage their own stationary. An address block has been created. Please update with your division s details. There is enough room for a level/building name, street address, suburb, postal address, region and country. Then, change out the staff member s name and title, add their DDI phone number, the nearest facsimile machine, their mobile number and their address. In doing so, please do not alter any of the settings on the file. Enough room has been allowed for long names and titles. (add image of business card with change outs indicated) Amend to division address details. Font Size: 7 Leading: 8.5 Name Font Size: 10 Title Font Size: 9 Update with personal information Font Size: 7 Leading: 8.5 Do not change as this is the legal requirement 8

9 Letterhead This artwork has been set up so that all you need to update is your division s address details. Once complete, you can organize printing. Amend to division address details. Font Size: 7 Leading: 8.5 We have also provided you with an example of a Word template. Once you have updated your letterhead with your address details, please create a Word template for your server. All you need to do is replace the word document background within the existing template. All other details should be useable from the example - room has been allowed for address details and salutation. Font is Arial 11 pt for ease of use. 10 Memorandum/Facsimile This artwork has been set up so that all you need to update is your division s address details. A template has also been created (as per the letterhead) so once you have updated your details, you can recreate the template for staff usage. Again, text has been set up as Arial 11 pt for ease of use. 12 Envelopes/Address Labels We have also produced a range of envelopes and address labels. However, rather than produce individual envelopes and address labels for each division, generic Fairfax Media versions have been created. They have been set up in spot colour only. Either use the address details provided or update to your details. However, please leave the logo as Fairfax Media as this allows us to print in spot colour only, minimising expense.
