1 Section 1: The SREmu Installation Thank you for trying the Sentinels Republic SWGEmu game launcher. This is a program in development, so please take note of any errors, problems, crashes and any accompanying Windows messages that you might encounter when using the program. Please bug these on the Trello boards. We suggest to temporarily disable any anti-virus you have running as it may interfere with the installation. PREREQUISITES There are some prerequisites that you need to have installed on your computer prior to running the setup file. You should have Microsoft.NET installed as well as Microsoft Visual C edition. Users of Windows 10 *should* already have the.net installed, but you can always try downloading to ensure you have it. 2 This document is for the SREmu Launcher version 3 installation. If this is a first time installation, you can skip forward to Part B. Part A is for those that are upgrading or have a previous version of the SREmu game installed where you need to BACK UP YOUR PROFILES DIRECTORY AND OPTIONS.CFG FILE. Part A Previous SREmu installation or upgrade The following steps should be taken to prepare your PC for the installation of the v3 Launcher. Due to some major changes in the way the game.tre files are structured and a change in the way the Installer works, this version will require the previous version to be uninstalled and then run as a new installation (as in Part B). There are some pre-steps to take before uninstalling your current game in order to preserve your profiles and user options. Please do the following before uninstalling/installing the v3 Launcher. 1. To preserve your profiles and use them in the new installation do the following: a. Locate and make a backup copy of the Profiles subdirectory under your SREmu game directory. b. Locate and make a backup copy of your characterlist text files (if you have them, they will be in the root game directory with all the other files). c. Locate and make a backup copy of the options.cfg file and your aliases.txt files (you may or may not have the aliases.txt file).

3 d. You can create your own temporary fold to hold these, or do it however you like. Just make sure it s in a different folder than the game folder as you will be uninstalling the game folder. e. Once you have these safely copied somewhere else, you need to run the Uninstall SREmu option from your Windows Start menu. 2. Once the game has been uninstalled, continue on to Part B New installation.

4 Part B New first time Installation Ensure you have the necessary PREREQUISITES installed on your computer, double click on the SREmu v3 Setup file to start the installation process. If this is an upgrade, make sure and follow directions in Part A first. Please NOTE: When first starting the setup.exe file, there may be some delay before the program launches. Also, some of the patching and updating my look like the program pauses or goes not responding. Again, please be patient and let the program run. If you experience an extremely long (more than 5 minutes) delay for any installation step, then that is likely a problem, so please report it. 1. The Setup screen will appear. Click Next to continue.

5 2. Read through the license agreement and click the I accept checkbox and click Next to continue. 3. Select your drive and directory where you would like to install the emulator. a. Note: it is HIGHLY suggested to choose an installation directory that is not the default, nor choose C:\Program Files (x86) or C:\Program Data directories. These will almost certainly cause issues with the game and launcher. Any other drive or directory should install without any issues. Click the Next button. 4. Choose if you want desktop and/or Start Menu icons (default is Yes). Click Next to continue. 5. Finally click Install to run the installation.

6 6. During the installation, another window will come up showing the progress of unpacking the data files during installation. 7. Once this is complete, the Installation Completed window will appear. 8. At this point, if you have previously made copies of your Profiles and cfg files, you will need to copy these back into the newly created game directory. Our suggestion is to uncheck the Launch SREmu, then click Finish to close the Installer. Now copy the files back to the newly created game directory. Overwrite any files when prompted. 9. Once the file copy is completed, double click the SREmu Icon on your desktop to launch the game and start the Patching process if required (Section 2 below).

7 Section 2: The Game Launcher Patch Operation 1. As this is the first time installation, the Launcher will need to download required SR game patch files from the server. The Launcher should automatically detect this and pop up a Launcher Update window instructing you to restart to get the new version. Click the Update button. (Note: you may be prompted to run this as Admin depending on your security settings.) 2. The update will download and install the new patches. If the launcher itself is being updated, you will be prompted to Close the Process so it can update itself. Press Close Process to continue.

8 3. Once downloaded and installed, the update dialogue will close and the Launcher will start. 4. Now you can click Start Game to launch SREmu. Enjoy!!!

9 IF THE AUTO-UPDATE DOES NOT WORK 5. If you start the game launcher and you do not get prompted for an update, but there are files that need updating, the Launcher may crash or you may get an error when trying to launch the game. If this happens, just use the Get Updates button to check to see if you have the latest patches. 6. Click the Get Updates button in the top row of buttons to initiate the patching process. (Note: You can always click this button to make a check. If you are up to date, the window will tell you so. It can t hurt to periodically check for updates.) 7. The patcher will start and update as required like the previous steps show.
