Log in to Media Client CAUTION: Although the Media Client, and the prep forms in particular, appear to provide a dedicated workspace for the operator, many operations make use of Device Server resources such as devices and media lists. In a multiple Media Client environment if these resources are not dedicated to a specific Media Client, there may be operational conflicts. Wherever possible, each Media Client should be provided with dedicated resources. Where this is not possible, it the responsibility of the operators to ensure that potential conflicts are avoided. Recommendation: In this environment, coordinate the actions of Media Client operators to ensure like operations do not overlap. 1. From the desktop, double-click a Media Client icon. There may be more than one icon. Each icon will log into a different Device Server so make sure you choose the correct one. 2. Only on initial startup of an installed Media Client: If your system has only one active Network connection to the Media Client, skip to step 3. If your system has two active Network connections to the Media Client, the Active Network Interface dialog is displayed prompting the operator to select an interface. Select the required LAN (for example, select the "Automation LAN"). If the LAN your require is not clearly indicated and you are uncertain which one to select, please contact your Network Administrator for guidance. Press OK. The system creates a Network.ini file in the system s designated installation location. (Once correctly set, this dialog will not be displayed for any subsequent restarts.) o If the incorrect network connection was selected, Media Client will not connect. To correct this delete the Network.ini file from the systems designated installation location, restart the Air Client, and then select the correct network connection from the Active Network Interface dropdown Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 5
3. The Login dialog is displayed. 4. Enter the following: User Name: Admin Password: <No password. Leave blank> 5. Click OK, or press [Enter] 6. Ensure you have logged in as Admin. Confirm the screen says Admin, not Default. The Default user has limited rights and permissions. If you attempt to login as anything else, it will eventually let you in, but it will log you in as Default user. Set Admin Password By default, Media Client does not require a password for administrator access; however, in broadcast facilities using multiple accounts, a password for administrator access might be required. Use the following procedure to specify a password for administrator access (or change an existing one): 1. From the Properties tab select the Set Password icon ( ). The Set Admin Password dialog is displayed 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 6
2. If you have previously specified a password for administrator access, type it in the Current Password: field; however, if this is a new installation and no administrator password is assigned, leave it blank. On the Set Admin Password dialog, set the following parameters: Current Password: (Enter the current password.) New Password: (Enter a new password.) Confirm Password: (Re-enter the new password just entered.) IMPORTANT: The maximum supported password length is 32 characters. 3. When finished click OK. If the password you typed in the Confirm Password: field does not match the password you typed in the New Password: field, a dialog box opens, informs you of the error and allows you to retype the password and click OK. A password is now assigned to the "Admin" user name. Changing Users Using the Automation Security Administration Tool, user accounts are configured to allow access to administrator-approved functions. This section assumes multiple accounts have been created and is limited to instructions on how to log in as a user of one of those accounts and log out. To log in as another user 1. From the File ribbon tab select the Change User icon ( ). The Change User dialog box opens. 2. Type the user name in the User Name: field 3. Type the password in the Password: field. 4. Click OK. To Logout The Change User dialog box is also used to log out. Logging out at the end of a session requires another user to log in with their own user name and password to use the Media Client workstation Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 7
Managing Server/MultiServer Connections Use the following procedure to manage Device Server connections for the application. IMPORTANT: To be able to select multiple servers, the file multiserver.bin must be present in the installation directory. Contact Automation Technical Support for details. Note: Multiple server login (multiserver login) is only available to customers who have purchased it. Clients supporting this feature will have a Servers menu on the Media Client desktop. Limitation of Multiple Login Function in Media Client: Media Client's multiple login feature provides a convenient means for an operator to exploit multiple login functions that are implemented in an Air Client application. However, Media Client functions, such as prep form editing or auto copy, can only work with the primary Device Server application. Limitation of Multi-Device Server Environment with Media Client: Configuring main/backup Device Servers in the client shortcut is not dependent on Multiserver login feature. Ensure the MAIN and BACKUP Device Servers are configured identically in terms of devices and assignments. It is expected a Main/Backup configuration is to be used with a serial transfer switch to move devices from the MAIN Device Server to the BACKUP Device Server. Do not configure both main/backup Device Servers in the shortcut and the multiserver login at the same time (on a per client basis) as it can cause issues with prep form displays during connection/reconnection. Set up separate desktop shortcuts for connecting to the Main Device Server and the Backup Device Server. Device Server Connections (No MultiServer Logon) If the multiserver login feature is not enabled, the "Servers" tab on the ribbon is absent, and it is impossible to edit the available Device Servers connections list. The only connection available is the startup-defined connection. The Client tries to establish this connection as soon as it is started. If connection attempt fails, and there no Backup Device Server was defined at the startup, only "Retry" and "Abort" options are suggested to the operator. If there is a Backup Device Server is defined, the system also suggests "switching to backup". To Connect to a Device Server (w/ MultiServer Logon) With Air Client v4.16 / Media Client v4.16 and higher, ADC Device Server connections are implemented as follows: 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 8
Each "connection" is defined as a pair of servers (pair of server names) "main" and "backup" Servers in pair must be of the same generation (both ADCv12) Each server may have its IP defined (this used to manage the "Connect by IP" feature) Duplicate Device Server names are not allowed. If one server (with particular name) is used in any role (either as MAIN or as BACKUP) in some connection, it cannot be used for any other connection. Only one Device Server in the pair can be connected at the moment The connection may have no Backup Device Server name defined. If the connected Device Server fails And the Backup Device Server name is defined for this connection the client initiates the "server swap" procedure and shows the server reconnection dialog with retry/swap/ignore options. After the "swap" all the client s features stay completely available. If, for some reasons, the Backup Device Server fails too, the client tries to connect back to the Main Device Server of the Device Server pair. And the Backup Device Server name is not defined for this connection, there is no "swap" option in the Device Server reconnection dialog. Each configured Device Server has its own AsRun and Error Log configurations Auto List Save and Auto Bin Save (used for main-backup swap) are related to the connection (Device Server pair) as a whole. Connecting to a Device Server (w/ MultiServer Logon) 1. From the Servers Ribbon tab select the Connect... icon ( ). The Connect to server dialog box is displayed listing the device servers Media Client can connect to. In this dialog each line in a list of available servers describes the connection, which, in its turn, has its server version (mandatory), main server name (mandatory) and backup server name (optionally). The first line in the list is always a startup-defined connection, which cannot be edited or removed. If no additional server connections are configured, it will be the only one in the list. Note: Currently connected servers are displayed in green text and it is impossible to perform a "connect" action to these servers (the OK button is grayed-out). 2. In the Connect to server dialog box, select a server from the Available Servers: pane and then click OK Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 9
3. To connect to another server, repeat Step 2. The Media Client can connect to a maximum number of eight (8) servers. Disconnecting from a Device Server (w/ MultiServer Logon) To remove access to transmission lists and device storage and device status windows on a server connected to Air Client, disconnect from a server by the following procedure. 1. From the Servers Ribbon tab select the Disconnect... icon ( ). If multiple servers are connected, a Choose Server dialog is displayed. 2. Select the server to disconnect from and then click OK. 3. The System prompts to confirm disconnect. Click OK to disconnect. To Add/Edit/Remove/Scan Available Device Server Entries (w/ MultiServer Logon) Use the following procedure for managing Device Server connections in a multi-server environment Imagine Communications Corp. Server version: Select the version of the Device Server to connect to If "v.11" is selected, only v.11 Device Servers are listed in and available for selection from the drop-down list. (Option): If v11 is selected and the system is using IPv4, check to use IP and then specify the IP Address to use for the Device Server. If "v.12" version is selected, only v.12 Device Servers are listed in and available for selection from the drop-down list. Backup Server: Enter the Server Name. A Device Server name entered in the alternate server name edit box is not listed in the drop-down, since it is prohibited to use the same Device Server as main and backup at the same time. (For example: Compare the following screenshot with the previous screenshot.) (Option): If v11 is selected and the system is using IPv4, check to use IP and then specify the IP Address to use for the Device Server. When finished click OK Imagine Communications Corp. 15 Dublist Management The Dub List window displays a list of the records of spots or segments to be prepared. These records are drawn from dub list (.dub) files generated by the traffic department. These files must be translated before their records are added to the main dub list. The first column (with the asterisk heading) indicates that the spot has been dubbed. This appends the.lrf file (or the.ord file) if the TurboMedia compatibility box has been checked under Properties Dub List General. About the Dub List "LRF" file: The format of the dub list "LRF" files was changed in Media Client version 2.2. Due to the changes, LRF files created by Media Client 2.2 and earlier cannot be read and displayed properly by later versions of Media Client. Existing LRF files should therefore be deleted before the dub list window is opened or another dub list is translated. These files are located in the directory configured as the "Output Spot Directory". This directory is selected on the General "Dub List Translation Parameters" dialog, accessible from the Properties menu under Dub List/General. Translate DubList Record information generated by the traffic department is compiled in a dub list file. Using the Media Client Dub List Translation tool, the record information from a dub list file can be exported to a prep list. When dub list parameters are specified, a dub list can be translated and its records exported to the prep window. When a new dub list file is made available by the traffic department, use the following procedure to translate the file. Note: This procedure assumes Dub List translation has been properly configured. 1. From the Utilities ribbon tab select the Translate Dublist icon ( ). 2. From the Translate Dublist options select Single Spot/Multi-Spot OR Multi-Segment dublist. The Translate Dub List search window is displayed. 3. Use standard Microsoft Windows procedures to manually specify a dublist and/or search for a dublist (e.g. *.dub). Locate the file, select it, and then click Open. 4. Once the proper dublist has been selected, click OK. The dublist is imported and translated to automation parameters. A popup Record Counts dialog provides a summary of the records translated. Following is a description of each statistic reported by the Record Counts dialog box: Records imported: indicates how many records (or spots) were imported to the dub list from the dub list text file Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 15
Old records kept: indicates how many records that are already translated were not expired or did not contain the same ID as a newly translated record and, as a result, remained on the dub list. The expiration date is determined during the configuration of dub list translation parameters. Old records replaced: indicates the number of records already translated and replaced by newly imported records containing the same ID. Old records deleted: indicates how many records were either expired or contained the same ID as a newly translated record and, as a result, were deleted from the dub list. New Records rejected: indicates the number of lines in the text file that did not contain valid alphanumeric characters for the ID number and were not imported to the dub list window. 5. Click OK to close the Record Counts dialog box. The dub list can now be viewed from the prep forms. Move a Dublist Record to the Prep Form Window Once a Dublist has been translated and is available, it can be viewed and its record contents moved as required. 1. From a preparation window click the Dub List function button ( ). The Dub List window is opened and the active dublist contents displayed. EXAMPLE: The following figure provides an example of the type of information displayed in a Single Spot Dub List window. (Your window may appear different. Display skin colors have been modified to enhance readability.) EXAMPLE: The following figure provides an example of the type of information displayed in a Multi- Segment Dub List window. (Your window may appear different. Display skin colors have been modified to enhance distinctness.) 2015 Imagine Communications Corp. Proprietary and Confidential. 15-May-2015 Page 16
IMPORTANT: A multi segment dub list must contain a line with the box ID and no segment number above the lines with segments. The Dub List window displays all the translated spots and divides their information into five familiar fields: ID, title, duration, user data and purge dates. A sixth field, marked with an asterisk, indicates which spots are prepped. When a spot is selected, the date the spot was added to the dub list is displayed in the left tray at the bottom of the dub list window. In the right tray is the dub list filename and the directory in which it is located. 2. To move records appearing in the Dub List window to the preparation list, highlight the required records, and then click Dub. The currently selected records are copied from the dub list into the prep form. When a record is highlighted, the Dub List window's status bar displays the date the record was added to the dub list, and the dub list (.dub) file from which the record was generated. Mark a Spot as Completed without Dubbing the Spot The operator can mark spots in the dub list as completed without actually dubbing the spots. 1. Highlight an event on the dub list. 2. Right mouse button is clicked while the cursor is over the dub list display window. A popup menu appears. 3. From the popup menu select: "Mark Done", to mark a spot as completed. (Option) To undo, highlight a spot marked as done, right lick and from the popup select "UnMark Done".
