1 How to Install McAfeee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam For Gateway Technical College Students Important: Beforee installing McAfee Anti-virus/Anti-spam, you must uninstall any anti-virus software that may currently bee installed on your computer. Use add/remove programs in the control panel to do so. Launch a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and navigate to Gateway s web page, Click on the Blackboard button. Log-in to Blackboard using your Gateway issued Studentt ID and password. Page 1

2 Click on the Student Support Tab as shown below: From the Student Support web page, (scroll down if necessary) and click on the link called Players, Plugins and McAfee Antivirus as showing below. Page 2

3 From the Players and Plugins page, click on the link called Install First: Click Here for the Anti-Virus install as shown below. A login prompt will be displayed. Key in your Gateway issued Studentt ID and password and click on the OK button. Page 3

4 After successful authentication, the following prompt will be displayed.. Click on the Yes button. Click on the Run button to begin the installation. Page 4

The McAfee End User License Agreement is displayed. Select Perpetual from the drop down list for the License expiry type. Click on I accept the terms in the license agreement. 6 Select Typical as the setup type and click on the Next button. Page 6

7 Select Standardd Protection and click on the Next button. Click the Install button to begin the installation. Page 7

8 After the installation process has completed, you will be presented with the options to update the DAT/scan engine files and to run a scan of your computer to check for any potentially unwanted files. Select to do both. The On-Demand scan may take in excess of 30 minutes to complete, depending upon the size of your hard drive. The install program will contactt McAfee, to check for and obtain any updates as shown below. When updating as completed, click on the close button. Page 8

9 Upon completion of any updates, the On-Demand scan process will begin, as shown below: Important: The On-Demand Scan will scan your entiree hard drive.. As a result, this process may take in excess of 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion of the On-Demand scan, click the Close button. Congratulations! Installation of McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise is complete. Click on the OK button. Page 9

10 Return to the Players and Plugins page, and click on the link called Install second: : Click here for AntiSpyWare install A login prompt will be displayedd as show below. Key in your Gatewayy issued Student ID and password. Click on the OK button to continue. Page 10

11 Click on the Run button to begin installation of the McAfee Anti-Spyware module. Click Run when prompted for the publisher verification as show below: When prompted for installation, click on the Yes button as shown below. Page 11

12 Click on the Next button to begin installationn of the AntiSpyWare module as shown below. As with the Anti-Virus installation, The McAfee End User License Agreement is again displayed during the Anti-Spyware plug-ithe license agreement. Click on the OK button. installation.
