24 New feature in SIMIT Figure 4-10: Setting the diplay format Decimal number can be poitive or negative. In hexadecimal notation negative number are alway repreented a a two' complement. When converting to hexadecimal number you need to pecify how many byte are to be included (1, 2, 4 or 8 byte). A hexadecimal number are diplayed with a fixed number of character, thi etting alo determine the number of hexadecimal character diplayed (2, 4, 8 or 16 place). In the Character diplay format only the pecified number of byte are included, tarting with the leat ignificant byte, reulting in a diplay of 1, 2, 4 or 8 character. A character correponding to the coding of the (extended) ASCII code i diplayed if it i a diplayable character. NOTE The data width etting i alo relevant for the diplay of decimal number. If the data width i et to le than 8, the actual value of an integer input variable may not be diplayed in ome circumtance. If you enter value uing the Digital Input control, you mut ue the pecified diplay format. If the yntax ued doe not correpond to the pecified diplay format, the input i interpreted a zero. The data width doe not affect the input of a value a the effective value i not limited. However, the way the value i diplayed will depend on the data width etting. Figure 4-11 how example of the effect of different diplay format and data width. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 What' New In SIMIT V7.1? Proce Automation Page 16

25 New feature in SIMIT Figure 4-11: Effect of different diplay format and data width Correction in the Stepping Switch with Image control In the "Up-Down" parameter etting the value of the Stepping Switch with Image i now incremented when you click in the top half of the control and decremented when you click in the bottom half New converion component Two new component type are available for converting REAL value Real2Byte component type Symbol Function The Real2Byte component type convert the value of an analog ignal at the REAL input into the binary repreentation of a ingle preciion floating-point number a defined in IEEE 754. The converted floating-point number i mapped to the four byte value B i, i = 0,...,3, at the integer output, a hown in Figure Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 What' New In SIMIT V7.1? 26 New feature in SIMIT Figure 4-12: Single preciion floating-point number a defined in IEEE 754 NOTE Mapping the analog ignal (double preciion type) to the ingle preciion number format limit the preciion and the value range. Note alo that thi converion cannot be ued to convert a floating-point number to a whole number (integer). The Analog2Integer component type hould be ued for that converion. If you want to tranfer analog ignal to a Simatic controller, you normally et the data type of the correponding ignal in the gateway to REAL. The analog ignal i then converted automatically. A component of the Real2Byte type i neceary, however, if you want to tranfer analog ignal directly to bit memorie or data block of a Simatic controller, for example Byte2Real component type Symbol Function The Byte2Real component type convert the binary repreentation of a ingle preciion floating-point number a defined in IEEE 754 at the integer input B i, i = 0,...,3, to the value of an analog ignal at the REAL output, a hown in Figure Figure 4-13: Single preciion floating-point number a defined in IEEE 754 Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 What' New In SIMIT V7.1?
