Functioning of the Profinet IO gateway 2 FUNCTIONING OF THE PROFINET IO GATEWAY The Profinet IO gateway enable a communication between SIMIT and one or more Profinet IO controller. SIMIT imulate the behavior of the Profinet IO device on the bu and allow data to be exchanged between the Profinet IO controller and SIMIT. Dedicated hardware interface module are required for SIMIT to communicate with Profinet IO controller. NOTE SIMIT imulate the behavior of the Profinet IO device. In principle it doe not matter which Profinet IO controller i connected. However, configuring the Profinet IO gateway require the hardware configuration to be imulated to be created with HW-Config (STEP7-Software). 2.1 How it work To illutrate the principle of the Profinet IO gateway with SIMIT, a hown in Figure 2-1, it i aumed that a non-redundant PLC with a ingle Profinet IO ytem i to be configured. A dedicated Profinet IO interface module then form the gateway between SIMIT and the PLC. The Profinet IO cable i connected to the interface module intead of the Profibu device (ee Figure 2-2). The interface module imulate the configured Profinet IO device, i.e. it communicate with the Profinet IO controller in exactly the ame way a the Profinet IO device. Otherwie communication via the Profinet IO would not be error free. Figure 2-1: Configuration with a ingle fieldbu Profinet IO Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 2

Functioning of the Profinet IO gateway Figure 2-2: SIMIT interface for Profinet IO If your original configuration conit of everal Profinet IO ytem, you need one IM-PNIO for each ytem (Figure 2-3). Each IM-PNIO ha to be connected to one Profinet IO controller and to the SIMIT PC. Each interface emulate the device that are configured for thi Profinet IO ytem. 9 Functioning of the Profinet IO gateway 2.2 The Profinet IO interface module The Profinet IO interface module i available in two configuration: IM-PNIO-128 Interface module imulating a maximum of 128 Profinet IO device with RT protocol IM-PNIO-256 Interface module imulating a maximum of 256 Profinet IO device with RT protocol The interface module i alway equipped with four Profinet IO plug (ee Figure 2-4) but only the firt one labeled Ethernet Port 1 (Figure 2-4) i uable. A 24V 1300mA DC power upply i needed to operate each interface module. Thi power upply i not upplied with the interface module. The interface module ha a ocket labeled PS1 for a main power adapter with a round plug. Where appropriate, you can alo ue the 24V power upply of a Profinet S7-300 and connect it to the interface module with a 2-pin plug-in terminal block. Figure 2-4: Connector of the Profinet IO interface module Pleae plug the connection cable to your PC to the RJ45 plug labeled Control Port 1. A croed or uncroed LAN cable (twited pair) can be ued a connection cable to the interface module, a it port upport auto-croover. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 4

Functioning of the Profinet IO gateway CAUTION The network coniting of the IM-PNIO and your SIMIT PC mut not include additional participant to avoid communication problem. The bet cae i to connect the IM-PNIO to the PC network adapter olely. Apply an IP-adre to thi network adapter that i unique to all network that can be reached from your SIMIT PC. If you ue more than one interface module, connect each of them to a eperate network adapter or ue a network witch. If you ue a eparate PC to configure and monitor your PLC uing the SIMATIC - or PCS7- oftware, you only need an Ethernet connection from thi PC to the PLC, it will not be connected to the SIMIT PC (. Figure 2-5). In cae you do not have an additional communication proceor at the PLC you will get a configuration like the one hown in Figure 2-6. The econd network adapter (NC2) in the SIMIT PC i now connected to the Profinet IO controller and thu mut have an IP addre that belong to the addre range of the Profinet. 11 Functioning of the Profinet IO gateway Figure 2-6: Configuration without additional communication proceor and with a ingle PC CAUTION The Ethernet port and the Control port of the IM-PNIO mut not have IP addree belonging to the ame ubnet. Thi i the reaon why two network adapter are ued in the example above. A mixed configuration of real and emulated Profinet IO device i alway poible. Jut connect your real device to the Ethernet connection between interface module and your controller via a network witch. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 6

Configuring the Profinet IO Gateway 3 CONFIGURING THE PROFINET IO GATEWAY To configure a Profinet IO gateway, three tep are required: 1. Adding the gateway 2. Importing the ytem data block and optionally a ymbol table 3. Aigning a channel in the interface module For each Profinet IO ytem one gateway i to be configured according to thi cheme. 3.1 Adding a Profinet IO gateway Double click New Gateway ( ) in the project navigation to create a new gateway and elect Profinet IO in the election dialog to follow (ee Figure 3-1). Figure 3-1: Chooing a gateway A name of the gateway you may ue the default name Profinet or aign an arbitrary name. 3.2 Importing ytem data block After adding the gateway elect the ytem data block (db file) in the import dialog (ee Figure 3-2). Optionally you may alo import a ymbol table. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 7

Configuring the Profinet IO Gateway Importing ytem data from TIA portal You may alo import a hardware configuration from the TIA portal V11. If you have modeled a SIMATIC S7-300 or S7-400, the configuration will be read from ytem data block (.db file), in cae of a S an.xml file i ued. For TIA portal to provide neceary data, on the machine TIA portal i intalled on you need either to intall SIMIT V7.1 or launch UnlockHWConfig.exe once. You find thi tool on the SIMIT intallation CD in the Tool\SIMATIC folder.tia portal will then place configuration file in the folder <Shared Document>\TIAExport. In order to import ytem data of a S chooe Sytem data (*.xml) a file type in the file dialog (Figure 3-7) Figure 3-7: Importing ytem data from TIA portal NOTE When importing the hardware configuration of a SIMATIC S7-1200, there i no preview available. Therefore, it i not poible to exclude individual lave or device from the imulation during import. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 11

Configuring the Profinet IO Gateway 3.3 Importing the configuration file Uually, all information that i required for configuring the gateway can be read from the ytem data block. Only in cae your configuration ue one of the following HARTmodule of an ET200M-tation, the configuration file i required additionally in order to configure all ignal of a module correctly: 6ES TF00-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES TF01-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES PF00-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES PF01-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES PF10-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES PF11-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC 6ES SF00-0AB0 AI8x16Bit HART/TC You can create the configuration file uing the hardware configuration tool (HW-Config) in Step 7 by exporting the.cfg format. The import dialog Figure 3-8 allow you to elect the configuration file. Figure 3-8: Importing the configuration file 3.4 Retropective import of the ymbol table Uually you will import the ymbol table along with the ytem data block into the Profinet IO gateway. 18 Configuring the Profinet IO Gateway Figure 3-9: Import-Dialog für die Symboltabelle When importing a ymbol table you can decide how ignal hould be handled that exit in the gateway already. There are three alternative available: New All ignal that exit in the gateway already are removed. The gateway i newly built baed on the imported ymbol table. If neceary, ignal are plit or merged to match the data type a required by the ymbol table. Add If a ignal ha a ymbolic name pecified in the imported ymbol table but ha no ymbol name in the gateway yet, it i aigned the ymbol name a pecified in the ymbol table. Symbol name that exit in the gateway already are not overwritten! If there i a ignal in the imported ymbol table that overlap with ignal that exit in the gateway already becaue they hare an addre range, it will be ignored. There i no merging or plitting of ignal. Replace If a ignal exit in the gateway already and ha a ymbolic name pecified in the imported ymbol table, it i aigned the ymbol name a pecified in the ymbol table, even if it had a ymbol name aigned in the gateway already. If there i a ignal in the imported ymbol table that overlap with ignal that exit in the gateway already becaue they hare an addre range, it will be taken into the gateway configuration and will be aigned the ymbol name a provided by the ymbol table. All overlapping ignal will be plit or merged in order to make the data type available a required by the ymbol table. 3.5 Configuring the gateway for IRT ytem The Profinet IO gateway alo upport the IRT protocol. When importing the ytem data block (Figure 3-10) the option IRT-Sytem mut be checked and the IRT device that i the firt device in the network configuration (from the point of view of the Profinet controller) mut be elected (Firt IRT device). All available channel are made available in the Hardware Channel uing the interface module name (ee Figure 3-14). After aving, a channel that wa aigned to a gateway will not be available any more. Figure 3-14: Aigning a hardware channel Loading the interface module If you have configured a Profinet IO gateway, or have changed it configuration, the configuration mut be loaded into the interface module before tarting the imulation. The interface module only behave like the real field device in their communication with the automation ytem, i.e. with the Profinet IO controller in the automation ytem, when they have been loaded with Profinet IO configuration that match the automation ytem. If you tart a imulation for a project that contain a Profinet IO gateway, a check i automatically performed during tartup to ee whether the interface module have already been loaded with the correct configuration data. If not, you can ue the dialog in Figure 3-15 to load the interface module or to cancel the tart of the imulation. The imulation can only be tarted if the interface module have been loaded with the correct configuration data. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 16

Configuring the Profinet IO Gateway Figure 3-15: Dialog for loading the interface module Thi dialog alo appear on tarting the imulation if your PC ha been witched off ince the lat loading. CAUTION When turning off the interface module, i.e. turn off power upply, or uing an application different to SIMIT and interfere with the configuration, SIMIT cannot make ure anymore that the currently loaded configuration matche the SIMIT project. Thi may lead to unpredictable behavior! You can alo initiate the loading of the interface module manually at any time. Jut click Save and Load in the Profinet IO gateway tool bar (ee Figure 3-16). Figure 3-16: Loading the interface module in the gateway CAUTION While the interface module are being loaded, they will not be able to communicate with the connected Profinet IO controller, at leat for a hort time. Automation ytem could therefore go into the Stop tate Configuration in RUN (CiR) CiR allow for certain change in the hardware configuration to be performed in full operation. SIMIT doe not upport CiR. You need to change your hardware configuration in HW Config and import the modified ytem data block into the Profinet IO gateway again. Then the interface module need to be newly loaded. Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 17

Editing the Profinet IO gateway 4 EDITING THE PROFINET IO GATEWAY Thi chapter provide information about editing the Profinet IO gateway in the gateway editor. You learn how to edit ignal and how to ue propertie of device and module. 4.1 Editing ignal The gateway editor will diplay ignal in an input and an output ection. A uual in SIMIT, input ignal are input of the PLC, output ignal are output of the PLC. Signal are hown in the gateway editor with propertie a follow: Symbol Name, Addre, Data Type, IO ytem number, Device number, Module lot number and Comment All propertie of the currently elected ignal are viible in the propertie view. Here you can edit caling information uch a type of Scaling, Lower Scale Value and Upper Scale Value for analog ignal (ee Figure 4-1). Figure 4-1: Propertie of an analog ignal Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 18

Editing the Profinet IO gateway NOTE Pleae note that only ignal of data type WORD can be caled Providing default value The firt column Default i ued to provide default value for input ignal, e.g. etting binary input in the PLC (ee Figure 4-2). Figure 4-2: Input ignal in the Profinet IO gateway Merging and plitting ignal When the ytem data block are imported, the ignal belonging to the imported Profinet IO configuration are created automatically in the gateway. Thi take into account whether they are binary ignal with the data width "bit" or analog ignal with the data width "byte", "word" (2 byte), "double word" (4 byte) etc. In certain cae the data width may need to be changed, e.g. to merge eight ucceive binary ignal into one ingle byte ignal. Jut elect all ignal to be merged and chooe Merge in the context menu (ee Figure 4-3). Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 19

Editing the Profinet IO gateway Figure 4-3: Merging ignal Signal can be plitted accordingly. Jut elect the ignal to be plitted and chooe Split in the context menu (ee Figure 4-4). Figure 4-4: Splitting a ignal Table 4-1 how how a ignal data width can be modified. To merge ignal, read the table from left to right; to plit ignal, read the table from right to left. Number of ignal Data Type Data width Number of Signal Data Type Data width 8 BOOL 1 Bit 1 BYTE 1 Byte 2 BYTE 1 Byte 1 WORD (INT) 2 Byte 2 WORD (INT) 2 Byte 1 DWORD (DINT, REAL) 4 Byte Table 4-1: Way to change data width Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 20

Editing the Profinet IO gateway Note Changing the data width may caue the lo of ymbol name. Signal can only be converted if they have been created in the Profinet IO gateway by importing the ytem data block. Addre range cannot be removed or created by changing the data width of ignal, a the entire addre range i determined by how Profinet IO i configured in the SIMATIC Manager. NOTE Signal that are not on the ame module, a well a failafe ignal, cannot be merged! Failafe ignal When a fail-afe configuration i imported, the aociated quality ignal for all binary failafe ignal are automatically created and labeled accordingly (ee Figure 4-5). Figure 4-5: Quality ignal in the gateway of failafe ytem Copyright Siemen AG, 2013 Proce Automation Page 21

Editing the Profinet IO gateway All quality ignal have a default etting of one, i.e. "valid". If you wih to deliberately et a ignal to "invalid", for example to tet the reaction of your control program to a ignal fault, you only need to et the correponding quality ignal to zero. Jut uncheck the Quality Bit property. NOTE After loading the interface module with a failafe configuration, the connected SIMATIC CPU need to be retarted! 4.2 Propertie of a Profinet IO gateway After opening the Profinet IO gateway the left ide of the propertie view will how a tree tructure of device and their module (ee Figure 4-6). Figure 4-6: Propertie view of a Profinet IO gateway You can define propertie of the gateway a follow: Cycle Here you can define the cycle the gateway will ue for data exchange. Ue the project manager to aign abolute value to the eight available cycle throughout the project. The default value for cycle 2 i 100m. For further detail concerning a gateway data exchange pleae ee the general SIMIT gateway manual. Mnemonik Here you can chooe between international (I/Q) and german (E/A) yntax of input and output. The Property F-Sytem i for your information only and indicate whether you are uing a failafe ytem Activating and deactivating device If a device i elected the right ide of the propertie view will how it propertie (ee Figure 4-7).
