2 Title: Mobile application development comparison Aim To develop comparable mobile applications for both ios and Android. Brief The current smartphone market is progressively becoming dominated by Apple s ios devices and Google s Android devices. This assignment is to use ios and Android application development tools and libraries and to use both these environments to develop a comparable application for both an ios and an Android device. App Development Design a 2D graphics based app and implement and test the app on both mobile OSs. The apps functionality should be as identical as is possible on the two devices. The app should be interactive and use touch input. A typical app would be a 2D drawing app which allows you to sketch using touch. There should be the ability to draw in different colours and thickness of lines as well as to erase all or parts of the sketch or start a new sketch. Meaningful extra features, which will warrant extra marks, might include, for example the use of networking or file input/output to enhance the functionality of the app by being able to transfer, save or load the graphical output Deliverables A report is required to be submitted to TurnitIn by 23:59 on 14 th January, Your report should include the following sections: Virtual Demo consisting of screenshots and commentary as would have been given in a class based demonstration. Specification. Design of the app to be implemented for both Android and ios. This includes the user interface and how the app will operate. A system diagram, if appropriate. This should be OS agnostic as much as possible. Implementation of the design of the two apps. Test of the two implementations. This should include a test plan and evidence of testing, such as screenshots. References. Appendices, which should include the source code of the two implementations. The virtual demonstration consists of a section with screenshots and commentary as would have been given in a class based demonstration. The quality of your report will also warrant extra marks such as the use of pagination and sections, a table of content with page numbers, introduction and conclusions. Please note that the work you produce must be your own and you may be asked for a viva.
