3 II. Contruction (Switching and Interrupting Cubicle) 2.01 SF 6 -Ga Inulation The SF 6 ga hall conform to ASTM D2472. The witchgear hall be filled with SF 6 ga to a preure of 7 pig at 68º F. The ga-tight tank hall be evacuated prior to filling with SF 6 ga to minimize moiture in the tank. The witchgear hall withtand ytem voltage at a ga preure of 0 pig at 68º F. (f) 2.02 Ga-Tight Tank A ga-fill valve hall be provided. A temperature-compenated preure gauge hall be provided that i color coded to how the operating range. The gauge hall be mounted inide the ga-tight tank (viible through a large viewing window) to provide conitent preure reading regardle of the temperature or altitude at the intallation ite. The tank hall be ubmerible and able to withtand up to 10 feet of water over the bae. The tank hall be of welded contruction and hall be made of 7-gauge mild teel or Type 304 tainle teel, a pecified in Section IV. A mean of lifting the tank hall be provided Ga-Tight Tank Finih (for mild teel only) To remove oil and dirt, to form a chemically and anodically neutral converion coating to improve the finih-to-metal bond, and to retard underfilm propagation of corroion, mild-teel urface hall undergo a thorough pretreatment proce compried of a fully automated ytem of cleaning, rining, phophatizing, ealing, drying, and cooling, before any protective coating are applied. By utilizing an automated pretreatment proce, the mild-teel urface of the ga-tight tank hall receive a highly conitent thorough treatment, eliminating fluctuation in reaction time, reaction temperature, and chemical concentration. After pretreatment, protective coating hall be applied that hall help reit corroion and protect the mild-teel urface of the ga-tight tank. To etablih the capability to reit corroion and protect the mild teel, repreentative tet pecimen coated by the manufacturer finihing ytem hall atifactorily pa the following tet: (1) 1500 hour of expoure to alt-pray teting per ASTM B 117 with: (i) Underfilm corroion not to extend more than ¹ ₃₂ from the cribe a evaluated per ASTM D 1645, Procedure A, Method 2 (craping); and (ii) Lo of adheion from bare metal not to extend more than ¹ ₈ from the cribe. (3) Crohatch adheion teting per ASTM D 3359 Method B with no lo of finih. Certified tet abtract ubtantiating the above capabilitie hall be furnihed upon requet. The finih hall be inpected for cuff and cratche. Blemihe hall be touched up by hand to retore the protective integrity of the finih. The finih hall be indoor light gray, atifying the requirement of ANSI Standard Z55.1 for No Viewing Window 2.05 High-Voltage Bu Each load-interrupter witch hall be provided with a large viewing window at leat 6 inche by 12 inche to allow viual verification of the witch-blade poition (open, cloed, and grounded) while hining a flahlight on the blade. Each fault interrupter hall be provided with a large viewing window at leat 6 inche by 12 inche to allow viual verification of the diconnect-blade poition (open, cloed, and grounded) while hining a flahlight on the blade. Viewing window hall be located on the oppoite ide of the gear from the buhing and buhing well o that operating peronnel hall not be required to perform any routine operation in cloe proximity to high-voltage elbow and cable. A cover hall be provided for each viewing window to prevent operating peronnel from viewing the flah which may occur during witching operation. Before intallation of aluminum bu, all electrical contact urface hall firt be prepared by machine abrading to remove any oxide film. Immediately after thi operation, the electrical contact urface hall be coated with a uniform coating of an oxide inhibitor and ealant Proviion for Grounding 2.07 Termination One ground-connection pad hall be provided on the ga-tight tank of the witchgear. The ground-connection pad hall be contructed of tainle teel and welded to the ga-tight tank, and hall have a hort-circuit rating equal to that of the witchgear. The ground poition hall have a ten-time duty-cycle fault-cloing rating. The diconnect hall be provided with an open poition that i readily viible through the viewing window to eliminate the need for cable handling and expoure to high voltage to etablih a viible gap. The open gap of the diconnect hall be ized to allow cable teting through a feedthru buhing or the back of the elbow. An internal indicator hall be provided for each fault interrupter to how when it i in the tripped condition. The indicator hall be clearly viible through the viewing window. Load-interrupter witche and fault interrupter hall be operated by mean of a quickmake, quick-break mechanim. The manual handle hall charge the operating mechanim for opening, cloing, and grounding of the witche and fault interrupter. Operating mechanim hall be equipped with an operation elector to prevent inadvertent operation from the cloed poition directly to the grounded poition, or from the grounded poition directly to the cloed poition. The operation elector hall require phyical movement to the proper poition to permit the next operation. Operating haft hall be padlockable in any poition to prevent operation. The operation elector hall be padlockable to prevent operation to the grounded poition. The operating mechanim hall indicate witch poition which hall be clearly viible from the normal operating poition. A microproceor-baed overcurrent control hall be provided to initiate fault interruption. The control hall be capable of ingle-pole or three-pole tripping of each fault interrupter. The control hall have intantaneou-trip (1 ka through 8 ka) and definite-time delay (32 m through 96 m) etting to allow tailoring of the coordinating-peed tap and coordinating-peed main curve to the application Optional Voltage Indication (Select voltage indication or voltage indication with proviion for low-voltage phaing.) Voltage indication (1) Voltage indication for each load-interrupter witch and fault interrupter by mean of capacitive tap on the buhing hall be provided to eliminate the need for cable handling and expoure to high voltage to tet the cable for voltage. Thi feature hall include a flahing LCD diplay to indicate the preence of voltage for each phae, and a olar panel to upply power for teting of the complete voltage-indication circuit. (2) The voltage-indication feature hall be mounted on the cover for the viewing window on the oppoite ide of the gear from the buhing and buhing well o that operating peronnel hall not be required to perform any routine operation in cloe proximity to high-voltage elbow and cable. Voltage indication with proviion for low-voltage phaing (1) Voltage indication with proviion for low-voltage phaing for each load-interrupter witch and fault interrupter by mean of capacitive tap on the buhing hall be provided to eliminate the need for cable handling and expoure to high voltage to tet the cable for voltage and phaing. Thi feature hall include a flahing LCD diplay to indicate the preence of voltage for each phae, and a olar panel to upply power for teting of the complete voltage-indication circuit and phaing circuit. (2) The voltage-indication feature hall be mounted on the cover for the viewing window on the oppoite ide of the gear from the buhing and buhing well o that operating peronnel hall not be required to perform any routine operation in cloe proximity to high-voltage elbow and cable. Switchgear Encloure 4.01 Tank contruction (for witching and interrupting cubicle) The ga-tight tank hall be made of 7-gauge mild teel. (6) Oil reitance teting coniting of a 72-hour immerion bath in mineral oil with no hift in color, no treaking, no blitering, and no lo of hardne.
