5 1. Intrductin 1.1 Purpse This System Requirement Specificatins dcument prvides a descriptin f the requirements given by the client and/r spnsrs f this prject. This dcument will als shw which sftware mdules and features f the ICP Cuntry Sftware will supprt these requirements. This dcument is dynamic in the sense that as new sftware mdules and their requirements are specified by the client, these will be added t this dcument. 1.2 Scpe The scpe f this dcument at present cvers nly the mdules and features f ICP Cuntry sftware and then again fr the Husehld Cnsumptin (HHC) items and Cmpensatin nly. 1.3 Requirement Numbering and Traceability Fllwing is the numbering frmat used in this dcument. The price qutatin is basically the cmplete database recrd that includes infrmatin n the prduct, the utlet (shp, where this prduct is priced, the type f that utlet cde) the mnthly price, the variety descriptin, the gegraphic area cde, the mnth the price was cllected, and all ther attributes such Page 5 f 30

6 Lcatin Types as rural/urban, dmestic/imprted, sale price/regular price, seasnal/nn-seasnal, etc. These are attributes that classify the demgraphy f the survey lcatin, fr example- Rural/Urban, High/Mid/Lw Incme etc. The list f attributes wuld be cnfigurable by the Regin fr their cuntries This is used t take multiple lgical views n the same physical Lcatin hierarchy. The physical nature f the Lcatin hierarchy, which remains the same acrss all the lgical views, is preserved by the parent child relatinship. Weights UI UM / UOM PC HHC Basic Heading IHSN TlKit Outlet Types This refers t the purchasing pwer infrmatin that is captured at the elementary prduct level. User Interface Unit f Measure Price Cllectr Husehld Cnsumptin Items In principle, basic heading cnsists f a grup f similar welldefined prducts, frm which sample f prducts can be selected that are bth representative f their types and purchases in participating cuntries. In practice, a basic heading is defined as the lwest level f final expenditure in the GDP, fr which explicit expenditures can be estimated. Internatinal Husehld Survey Netwrk s (IHSN) sftware tls which prvide features fr string survey questinnaires, dcumentatin n the surveys as well as survey respnses (data). The IHSN Tlkit uses internatinal standards called Data Dcumentatin Initiative (DDI) fr dcumenting the data. Set f five r six chices that characterize an utlet where price bservatins are cllected. 8 2. Overview 2.1 Objective Design, develp and test ICP cuntry sftware that meets the needs specified in this dcument. The system (s) t be designed will be sftware mdules that address a set f clsely aligned functins. Fr example, a price data entry mdule will d just that allw users t enter their price data int the system and save it. The design shuld ensure that each mdule wrks independently. That is, it can be installed and used separately. 2.2 Current Practice In the last rund f the ICP in 2005, cuntries were free t chse the sftware that wuld let them recrd and validate the prices. Sme cuntries used their CPI sftware, thers used their wn-develped sftware, and sme thers used the Price Cllectin Mdule f the ICP Tl Pack develped by the WB. 2.3 Prpsed Slutin HHC The ICP cuntry mdel fr HHC will have Data Entry, and the Data Validatin & Averaging mdules. Observatins will be either directly entered, r, imprted int data entry mdule via frmatted Excel sheets. Price bservatins will be validated and averages calculated in data validatin mdule. All data Validated bservatins will be exprted frm the ICP Cuntry Sftware and manually imprted int IHSN tlkit fr transferring data frm cuntry t regin. At this time nly arithmetic r gemetric means will be supprted. Once the requirements fr weighted averages are prvided, the ptin fr preparing weighted averages can be included Cmpensatin The ICP cuntry mdel fr Cmpensatin will nly Data Entry mdule. Observatins will be directly entered int data entry mdule using the screens prvided in the applicatin. The raw bservatins will be exprted frm the ICP Cuntry Sftware and manually imprted int IHSN tlkit fr transferring data frm cuntry t regin. 2.4 Functinal Overview The Internatinal Cmparisn Prgram is a series f statistical surveys held wrldwide t cllect price data fr a sample f cmmnly bught gds and services. It is a uniquely cmplex statistical exercise invlving natinal, reginal and internatinal agencies and is verseen by a Glbal Office lcated in the Wrld Bank. Surveys are held every three t five years, depending n the regin, and the data cllected are cmbined with ther ecnmic variables frm cuntries natinal accunts t calculate Purchasing Pwer Parities. PPPs help data users and dnr rganizatins target prgrams mre effectively, and assist internatinal markets by identifying the relative prductivity and investment ptential f different cuntries. 10 Figure 2: Large Cuntry Mdel 2.6 Technical Overview f the ICP Cuntry Sftware System will be develped with the fllwing envirnment, Visual Basic.Net 2005 SQLite database Excel 2003/2007 cmpnents DevExpress windws cmpnents User interface will be develped using VB.Net & DevExpress windws cmpnents. Database strage handled in SQLite database. Exprt feature will use the excel cmpnents. Refer t the technical architecture belw. Fr HHC items Data entry mdule will have the capability t stre/uplad the bservatins and als t exprt int excel. Data Entry Mdule Master lists received frm the Regin will be upladed int this mdule and the upladed data will be stred int SQLite database Observatins will be entered / upladed int the data entry screen and bservatins will be stred int SQLite database. Already saved master data will be used here t perfrm the basic validatins in the screen like invalid prduct cde, etc, and als user can select the master list lkup t pick an item frm the list Observatins can be exprted int excel sheet and manually imprted int IHSN tl kit. 14 2.11 Assumptins and Dependencies Fllwing are the assumptins and dependencies made fr this slutin: System will exprt the bservatins that shuld be manually imprted int IHSN tlkit. System will nt supprt any develpment r maintenance activities in IHSN tlkit. There is n autmatic data transfer frm ICP cuntry sftware t IHSN tlkit. The bservatins fr HHC shuld be imprted frm pre-defined excel sheet template. Cuntries using their wn data entry system have t cnvert their data int pre-defined excel sheet template befre uplading the bservatins int the system Assuming ICP team will cnvert the label/text messages used in the applicatin int specific languages. This prvides lcatin/utlet master list and als mapping between lcatin and utlets. These upladed lcatin and utlet details will be used in data entry screen.
