1 ipad for Marketing 9/10/ IPAD TRAINING TOUR THE IPAD Turn On Putting it to sleep and waking it up Volume and Locking the Screen Power Off GETTING ON THE WIRELESS NETWORK AT MSTC 1. Tap on Safari 2. Choose the MSTC Guest Network 3. Choose Continue 4. Type in the Username and Password: guest *When your ipad goes off, you may lose connection to the Internet for some of your apps. If this happens, just tap on Safari again and re-enter the username and password. This will not open on your home wireless networks. If you are using another browser such as Mercury or Dolphin, you will still need to go to Safari, sign into the wireless, then go to the other browser. GETTING ON THE WIRELESS NETWORK 2. Tap Wi-Fi 3. Choose an available network 4. If it is a locked network, you will need to enter the network password. Unlike MSTC s guest network, this password will stay in place once it is set. In the future, if you are in range of the network, it will automatically connect you. 5. Turn off and on wi-fi in this area. If are going to be working on the ipad but not using the Internet, turning off the wi-fi will save battery life. SET UP APPLE ID ON COMPUTER (NO CREDIT CARD METHOD) 1. Tap on the App Store and search for a free app. (Try Educreations). 2. Tap Free, then Tap Install 3. When a prompt appears, tap Create New Apple ID. 4. Choose the appropriate store by tapping Store, and select the country in which you are located. Tap Done to confirm your selection, then tap Next to proceed to the next screen. 5. The next screen will display the itunes Store Terms and Conditions. 6. To agree to the Terms and Conditions, tap the Agree button which is located in the bottom-right of the page. Tap Agree again when the confirmation appears. 7. Once you've agreed to the terms and conditions, you'll need to enter an address, password, and choose security questions and provide answers to them. 8. You can also enter an optional rescue address.

2 ipad for Marketing 9/10/ The address you provide will be your new Apple ID (which is what you will use to log in to the itunes Store). Enter your address and then tap Next. 10. Next, you'll be required to enter your billing information. Select None. 11. Tap Next. 12. You'll then see a screen that says Verify Your Address. 13. Tap Done and check your for a verification from Apple. 14. Open the and tap the Verify Now link enclosed in the to activate your account. 15. You'll be taken to a secure page to enter your Apple ID and password to complete your account verification. 16. Once you've entered your address and password, tap Verify Address. Apple ID: Password: SET UP DROPBOX ON IPAD 1. Tap on the Dropbox App 2. Tap on Create Free Account 3. Follow the instructions to set up the account Dropbox Username: Password: TO SYNC FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER AND IPAD 1. Go to 2. Tap on Login 3. Put in your username and password 4. Your files will be there Any files uploaded to dropbox will appear on the ipad, any files put into dropbox from your ipad will appear in your computer drop box account. *We will be having a meeting with IT in the near future to discuss the possibility of putting the desktop version of drop box on your computers. Remember, it is only a possibility. IPAD SETTINGS SETTING UP 2. Tap Mail, Contacts, and Calendars 3. Tap Add Account 4. Choose Hotmail Account 5. Fill in the required information (including the domain) 6. Tap Done 7. Scroll down to the Signature line and add your signature.

3 ipad for Marketing 9/10/ SETTING A PASSCODE A passcode protects the information on your ipad if someone else picks it up and tries to unlock it. 2. Tap General 3. Tap Passcode Lock 4. Tap Turn on Passcode 5. Enter the Passcode 6. Re-enter the passcode 7. Set the amount of time that passes before the passcode must be entered to unlock. SOUND SETTINGS 2. Tap General 3. Tap Sounds 4. Turn change with buttons to the on position 5. Leave ringtone on and set it at a level that you will be able to hear when someone is trying to contact you via FaceTime. All others can be set to off. SETTING BRIGHTNESS AND WALLPAPER 2. Tap Brightness and Wallpaper 3. Play with the brightness setting. (You will definitely want to be aware of this if you are using your ipad in darker places.) 4. Tap on either on the first wallpaper screen. (This is the image that will show on the locked screen.) 5. For now choose wallpaper (once you have some pictures on the camera you can come back and use your own photos) 6. Select your wallpaper choice. 7. Go back to wallpaper and do the same for the unlocked screen. SETTING UP FACETIME 2. Tap FaceTime 3. Make sure FaceTime is turned on 4. If it is not picking up your MSTC , add that *Note, your facetime will not ring if you are not connected to the Internet DOWNLOADING APPS 1. Tap App Store 2. Search for National Geographic Today when it asks for a password, use your Apple ID Password.

4 ipad for Marketing 9/10/ Click Free, Click Install *If you want to buy an app, you will need to put in your own credit card information. Apps bought under your own account will be available for other devices, even when your ipad goes back to MSTC. ORGANIZING APPS ON THE IPAD To move, delete, or combine apps, do the following: 1. hold your finger on an app for a second 2. the apps will begin to shake Delete: The apps that can be deleted will have an X. Tap the x and the app will disappear. Move: Move an app from one screen to the next by taping on it and dragging it to the edge of the screen in the direction you want it moved. Group: Group apps into a set by dragging one app on top of the other. A box will appear with the two apps inside. You may rename the box. Drag more apps into the box to add them to the set. To remove an app from the set, drag it outside of the box. TYPING ON THE IPAD Practice in Notes- Write a sentence or make a list that you can use to practice the following skills 1. Getting your cursor in the right place to make corrections a. Hold your finger on the word b. When the magnifier appears, move your finger until the cursor is in the right location 2. To select a word or a section for cutting or copying a. Hold your finger on a word in the section needing cut or copied until the magnifier appears b. Pull your finger up c. Choose select d. Use your finger to drag the dots to cover the section needing copied or cut e. Tap the selection with your finger again f. Select copy to make a copy of the section, or select cut to move the section somewhere else g. Hold your finger in the location where the new information will be pasted and choose paste 3. Note that when you hold your finger on a word, you can also choose define to find the meaning of the word. USING FACETIME 1. Tap the FaceTime app 2. Add a Contact by clicking on the FaceTime button you will need to enter the name and the FaceTime of the person you are contacting. 3. Click on the address and it will call the person on the other end.
