3 Power On The Ipad Power Button Primary button to use if all else fails

6 Enable Location Services

7 Choose a Wireless Network

8 Enter a Password If Needed

9 Set up a new Ipad Unless have an itunes Account

10 Please press 'Skip This Step' when prompted about signing into or creating an Apple ID during this first setup phase. (It keeps the instructions accurate)

11 Press 'Skip This Step' for now

12 Use Dictation

13 Automatically Send Diagnostics and Usage

14 Register with Apple ON (Helps on Support)

15 Almost Done with Setup

16 5 More Things to set up STJA Labs 2. Security Pin - Mitigate Other Users Access 3. itunes store - purchasing Apps 4. icloud - Sync data to the cloud, which means no computers. 5. Redeem Apps

17 Setup Press Settings

18 Press Mail, Contacts, Calendars tab Then Press Add Account (by the finger)

19 Then Press GMail

20 Replace ITSTJA with your own Academy

21 Click Next and you should See GMail

When you get Email the 'Mail' icon shows

22 When you get the 'Mail' icon shows you new messages with a red highlighted number

23 To set up a security pin press 'settings'

24 Press 'General' then 'Passcode Lock'

25 Press 'Turn Passcode On'

26 Type in a 4 digit pin (Don't use your ATM pin)

27 Now you're ready to set up an itunes account. When prompted, write down your security questions

28 Now Click App Store

29 Click Download All

30 Either create your own Apple ID or log in using your current Apple ID

31 Create your own Apple ID Press 'Next'

32 Press 'Agree'

33 For the Apple ID use a non Academy Address. i.e Google, hotmail, yahoo

34 Write down your questions as your answer them

35 Fill in your Birthday then press 'Next'

36 Please select "NONE" for Credit Cards. Enter your home address for the Billing Address. Then press Next.

37 Turn all these options to 'ON' itstja

38 Now you're ready to set up your icloud account. This account should be created with the intention of mimicking your Apple ID (Its easier to remember that way). Also, this icloud account will store all your data on the device to the cloud allowing you to access it on other devices or computers.

39 Setting up icloud account. Press 'Settings'

40 Press 'icloud' either sign in or 'Get a Free Apple ID'

41 Fill in the information press 'Next'

42 Press 'Get a free Cloud address' and below use your Apple ID you either created or used earlier in this slide.

43 Press 'Agree'

44 Press 'OK' to use icloud location... Great for if its lost

45 Turn everything on except 'Mail'

46 Press 'storage and backup'

47 Press 'ON' for icloud Backup then press 'Back Up Now'

48 Now to Get free Academy provided Apps, which is by redeeming them

49 Press the App Store

50 At the bottom of the App store press "Featured" then Press "Redeem"

51 Enter the codes provided to you by your teacher. Each code is unique to you...do NOT share them.

52 You are Done! Play with the Ipad. You will not break it unless you drop it! It the best way to learn how to use it.

53 Don'ts 1. Don't plug into a school computer to sync (icloud makes it so you don't need a computer) 2. Don't give out your pin 3. Don't leave it in extreme heat or freezing temperatures...it affects the battery longevity.

54 Do's 1. Play with the Ipad. 2. Set up pin number and not share it 3. Write down your security questions and remember address used with it 4. Keep in mind people (students and other Faculty) can see your Ipad so, be aware of your content on the device
